Story
Banjo is a loving 10 year old cattle dog mix who has been a cherished part of our family. He is loyal, sensitive, and happiest when life feels calm and predictable. As our home has become busier with a toddler, Banjo has been showing us that he needs a quieter environment to feel safe and relaxed. We want him to spend his senior years in a home that fits who he is. Banjo is house trained, healthy, and knows basic commands. He bonds deeply once he trusts someone and likes slow walks, sunny spots, and being near his person. He would do best in an adult only home with no other pets. He has shown reactivity to dogs and cats, so he will thrive as the only animal. Banjo is a gentle soul who deserves a peaceful home where he can exhale. If you understand sensitive, intelligent breeds and want a devoted companion, he has so much love to give.

Story
Borris.  This mellow guy loves cuddles, sofa time, toys, bones, and mealtime. He enjoys walks and car rides, and would thrive in a calm home. He’d be happy as an only dog or with a canine buddy. Looking for a laid-back companion? Borris is your guy! Energy Level?  Low House trained?  Yes Describe how they are on a leash?  He walks with a loose leash but does move from side to side—no reactivity to cars, bikes, or dogs.  Describe how they are with other dogs?  Friendly with all dogs, big and small  Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  Good with our cat and our dogs Commands they know?  Sit and come What are their favorite things? Laying on the sofa and watching a movie.  What do they need to work on?  He could benefit from additional training.  He's a fast learner. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  He can free roam the house. He has been alone for 8 hours.  Where do they sleep?  Borris sleeps on his dog bed What is their ideal home?   Borris is looking for a calm, adult home with someone kind and gentle. He’s a sweet boy who needs a little understanding. He doesn’t like to be grabbed by the collar and will give a gentle warning if he feels unsure. Borris loves his walks, car rides, and cozy downtime. He’d be happy as an only dog or with another mellow pup by his side. A peaceful home where he can feel safe and loved would be perfect for him.  October 8, 2025, 5:01 pm

Story
Clover is a 1yo female spayed 30lb cattle dog mix. She is crate trained, learning how to walk on a leash, and is doing well with housebreaking. She does great with other dogs and she really would benefit from living with another more confident dog to follow. She is non-destructive in the house but can be a creative collector of items she stashes lol. She might be fine with an indoor only cat. Please no young children or apartments. She’s a very sweet girl, skittish until she trusts you, but is sweet and not aggressive. She is young and still has a lot to learn what life can offer! Please contact Diana at (510) 333-4420 or theperfectdogrescue@gmail.com or fill out the adoption application:  http://www.theperfectdog.org/TPDadoptapp.doc September 11, 2025, 5:50 pm

Story
Charlie was brought into a shelter as a stray, though he was clearly loved and trained. He was adopted by someone I know who had some life changes and is unable to keep him so I stepped in and said i would foster him until a home could be found. So here we are. Charlie is a really good dog. He has been friendly and playful with all dogs so far and well-mannered with ones who aren't interested. He is excellent off leash with 98% recall (2% fail involving squirrel chases). He loves to be active though he also settles well when there is nothing going on. He is very affectionate with whomever he picks as his person.

Story
Meet Bandit! - Fosterd in Florida Bandit is a young and handsome energetic pup. He is around 40lbs and is a year old.  He needs a person willing to spend time continuing his training as he is young and still in the chewing stage. He is treat and attention motivated.  He is crate trained, rides well in car, he has made great strides on leash walking and potty training. Bandit has a silly, fun personality. He is very curious and has a lot of potential, I would say medium to high energy but he does have an off switch.  He was a little nervous during thunderstorms but just needs to know where his person is. Bandit is an all around love bug that gets along well with other dogs, is neutered, current on immunizations and on preventatives. If he sounds perfect for your family, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration ane transfer to his new furever family.  All adoption fees are used for future rescue eforts. ##2085124##

Story
Fostered in Salt Point, NY.    Meet Baby Blue a diamond in the ruff. He is a blue healer mix who is around 2 years old. He came into the shelter as a stray so nothing is known about his earlier life but since coming to my house he has been working on manners and basic obedience. This will need to continue in his new home. He is a big dog at 65 pounds and can be pushy, rude, and sometimes pulls hard while on leash. He loves to cuddle and will force himself onto your lap and flip your hand to make you pet him. He is very active and needs a home who will exercise his body and mind. No cats or small children, he will knock them down, but older dog savy kids are ok. He loves to chew bones, is good loose in the house, and sometimes sleeps upside down in the cutest way. Baby Blue gets along with all the dogs in the house and needs a fenced in yard to run and sunbathe. If you would like more information about Baby Blue I would love to share more. He is currently in foster in Salt Point, NY. If you think Baby Blue is the a perfect fit for you and your family  please submit our adoption application at the link below. https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There are some additional fees: $20 microchip transfer fee to register and transfer him to his new furever family. ##2089054##
