Story
I've been sponsored by the Petfinder Kia Grant to help reduce adoption fees. Thanks to the wonderful Petfinder Foundation my adoption fee is only $25.00! Hello there! I'm Maise, your future best friend. I'm a bundle of joy, full of playful energy and smart as a whip! I'm brave and independent, but don't let that fool you, I'm also as sweet as can be. I'm looking for a home with a privacy fence, it's just my preference. I love older children, they understand my playful nature and I can learn so much from them. I do prefer to be the only pet in the house, I like all the attention on me! I promise to fill your life with laughter, love, and loyalty. Adopting me means gaining a friend for life! Oh did I mention, I just finished a 7 week training program where I earned my certificate of compleation. I know how to come, sit, stay, down, leave it and many more tricks. I also love car rides, tug of war and fetch! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##1095560##

Story
Hi there! I'm BiBo, a 1 year old Heeler mix with tons of love to share! I'm a sweet and happy girl that was found wandering, but luckily someone swooped in and offered to help me out! I'm living with a foster now and he says I am a good girl. I've got a great little personality and would love to be someone's furever friend. I do good with other dogs and love to play. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2130401##

Story
We did Brownie's DNA! He's about half cattle dog and the next biggest result was Boxer but he is mixed with many other breeds. Brownie is a sweet, energetic and spunky guy who had a rough start in life. He loves affection and is a good boy. He was found as a stray in Bonne Terre and got picked up by animal control, which is just a shed. We believe Brownie would do best in a more quiet home with older or no kids and an active owner that would spoil him and give him the life he deserves. Brownie will need a fence as he has a high prey drive and loves to chase the yard critters. If there are other dogs in the home they should be about his size or bigger. He loves to play with the other dogs. He has been introduced to the dog savvy catin the house and they get along okay.We only adopt to people in the St. Louis METRO area. Please see our Adoption Policies here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TZjrOP29mqXvcHEC3zPaKXXnS80LaVGMA45Lc0-Z2MI/edit?usp=sharingInformation about the rescue and adoption process can also be found at www.stlpetrescue.com along with a full listing of our adoptable pets. Our adoption fees:Cats range from $150 to $175. Exotic breeds may be more. Dogs range from $250 to $350. High demand puppies and small dogs may be more. This fee includes: felv/fiv/heartworm testing, worming, flea and ear mite treatments, age-appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, lab work, dental or other medical or surgical treatments as deemed necessary by our team of veterinarians and a microchip with free registration.

Story
Oscar is a happy, energetic dog who is looking for a new home where he can have space to play and relax. Oscar is very loyal and loving. He is a cuddler who loves belly rubs and getting scratched behind his ears. If he could, he would spend all day every day playing fetch! Oscar is a survivor. When he was very young, Oscar overcame an aggressive bout of parvovirus that had landed him in the hospital. Then, when he was about a year old, he was sadly hit by a car, which broke his pelvis and required extensive surgery. But that didn’t stop Oscar either! He made a full recovery and can run and jump just as well as ever, though sometimes after a long day of play his limp is visible. Oscar thrives in a home where he can have some personal space, preferably without young children. He has shown some signs of aggression in the past due to anxiety from his safe spaces being infringed upon. Oscar is housebroken, crate trained, and has had basic manners and in-home aggression training.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Lenny is an 8 month old red heeler, who weighs about 40lbs. Lenny found himself at a rural animal control with a badly fractured leg that unfortunately was not able to be repaired. Lenny had to have his right rear leg amputated. He is adapting very well and it has not stopped him from being a normal pup one bit. Lenny plays close attention to people and other dogs and picks up quickly on the household routine. He even gently plays with our tiny kitten. He loves toys and will dig through his toy box to find just the right one. He is always happy to share his toys, even better if he can talk someone, either dog or person into a game of tug. He likes to be outside as long as the weather is nice, but storms still scare him so his parents will need to cuddle him a bit. He is a bit more relaxed than one would expect for a cattle dog, and happily lays by the couch in the evenings for pre-bedtime toy time or nap. He also likes napping in the sunshine and rolling in the grass. He is eager to please his people and wants nothing more than to be with them. Now, that whole "3 legged dog might having a few applicants thinking twice, but he wants his family to know that it really doesn't make any difference and that the expensive surgery and recovery is all over, so just think of him as really good boy who just makes a few less pawprints! He will live a normal life. There is even an online community of tripod dog parents offering help if you have any questions. Some prospective parents might wonder about a need for a prosthetic leg, but most dogs, including Lenny, do very well adjusting to three paws, so that really isn't necessary. He would love a home with access to an semi-active lifestyle, after all he is young heeler and he wants to play. He doesn't have a dominant or protective personality and seems thoroughly happy with simple things in life like a soft dog bed. He is a laid back happy boy who gets along with a wide variety of pets in his foster home. Come meet this handsome heeler! Lenny is being fostered in Washington Mo His adoption fee is $325 Please submit your application at istodaymydayrescue.org
