Story
Meet sweet Poppy! Poppy was found in a field with her siblings, on the verge of dying. Dehydrated, emaciated, full of parasites. Thankfully a good Samaritan got them all rounded up and called us. All were a bit shy at first but have come out of their shell and are nothing short of adorable. Cattle dog/shep mix, going to be medium size dogs we think. Born in April of this year and currently around 15 pounds. RECOMMENDATIONS & PROCEDURES Please note, the following are recommendations for puppies and different breeds of dogs. We will evaluate each application on an individual basis to see what is best for the dog/puppy and the potential adopter. Puppies are very fragile and not toys. We recommend children be at least six years old to be considered to adopt a puppy. Small breed dogs ( such as chihuahuas, yorkies, shih tzus , etc) we recommend children be at least eight years old. Herding, working breeds we recommend children to be at least 12 years old. Again these are recommendations. Adoption Procedures: We will travel up to two hours ( one way) to do physical home visits and we do not do virtual home visits. ( we are in Cleveland County NC) Most of our dogs come from bad situations and we want to know where their forever home is going to be. While we do not require fencing on all dogs, certain dogs that need a fenced in yard, will not be adopted unless potential adopter has one. We also adopt some dogs to people who live in apartments ( as long as the landlord approves) but not all dogs. We do not adopt to anyone under 21 years of age. We also do not feel college students are the best fit for most of our dogs. Most of our dogs again, come from bad situations and need lots of attention. Most college students have financial responsibilities and we feel need to be focused on school. Our goal is to match the dog with a family that fits the dog’s needs. We are solely focused on what is best for each dog in our rescue. These dogs have had enough moving around, dumped out like trash, and we want to ensure they find their forever home. We do require you sign a contract and if at any time you cannot continue to provide for the dog, the dog comes back to the rescue. Your first step to adoption is filling our our on line application. You will then get an automated email stating we got your application Next our adoption coordinator will be in touch either by phone or email If your references check out, a home visit will be scheduled. After the home visit is done, a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in and/or any other available dogs we have will be scheduled If the dog and you are a match, contract will be signed and you may take your new family member home. Story
Teddy is 2 years old. He’s a big silly puppy. He’s so sweet and high energy (half because his siblings fire him up). He’s honestly the best and sweetest pup we have towards our 1yr old baby and they are buddies. Unfortunately, we have managed with all of our animals and baby but JUST found out we are expecting twins and we just can’t maintain giving all of our dogs the attention they deserve too and us stay sane :) Teddy is getting fixed this week at our vet and he is well trained to report to his kennel when needed (night time, day time while at work, etc). I’d love to find him a happy carefree home like he has now! I think he’d be a great solo dog but also loves his siblings.

Story
I’m Tuxedo, a 2- to 3-year old cattle dog mix with the most gorgeous eyes! I’m a love bug who likes to lean into my people with all 40 pounds of me, or climb into a lap when one’s available.I came to the Humane Society as a stray. I’m still new to the shelter and haven’t made new dog friends yet, but I joined the other HSYC dogs for a long trek along the Riverwalk recently. I’m a great leash-walker and car rider!I’m up to date on vaccines and preventions, neutered and microchipped. If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Hi, I`m Charlie!I`m a 2 year old mix looking for my forever home. Could you help me? I am a well-mannered dog and I show it by walking well on my leash and listening to commands. I know sit, down, and roll over! My favorite activity is playing fetch with a tennis ball and also eating lots of treats. I`m already neutered and up-to-date on my vaccines. All I need is a place to call home! Come see me at the shelter today!

Story
Blue Tellico is a lively 15-month-old Blue Heeler boy that is smart and everything you expect in a Blue Heeler/Cattle Dog. Trained by professionals, Blue Tellico showcases impressive agility and quickness with a strong passion to spend lots of time outdoors looking for adventures and romping in the local creek and looking for squirrels to chase. Despite his energetic nature, Tellico is incredibly affectionate and adores cuddle sessions. The ideal home is a setting with space to run and explore in the woods, a creek or water source nearby for him to play in, too.  BlueTellico gets along well with other animals but isn't suited for households with young children because he tries to herd them and the current children are scared of him and his desire to round them up.  He would truly be good on a horse farm or someplace that caters to his outdoor need. We do encourage anyone interested, to be sure you understand the Blue Heeler breed and are willing to be his leader.  Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 22, 2024, 10:09 pm

Story
Critter Cavalry Rescue is trying to help several dogs like Lyla out of a small rural shelter that is cramped and hard on the spirit of the kind of dog like Lyla.  She came to the shelter as an owner surrender forced by the animal control of the shelter.   She and her sister were being crated 24.7 just about and this was negligent and cruel.  She has been in this little shelter for almost 3 months now and her Blue Heeler spirit is just being stifled to get out and have some time to roam a yard, go for a fun run of fetch the ball or just be sleeping on a soft cozy dog bed at your feet.  It is just hard on the spirit when these dogs are stashed away and unnoticed and very little attention except to feed them.  She is 1-2 years old and 38 pounds.  Shas is mostly Heeler from what we can tell but on the darker side and she is warm and friendly but cautious too because of the confinement she has experienced.  Help us if you love the breed or love rescuing and fostering or even adopting.  She is fully vetted and ready to go!  Email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   It is time to free Lyla! PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 22, 2024, 10:09 pm
