Story

We rescued Buddy from the shelter in January of 2024. We thought our 1yr old puppy needed a friend his size/age. He has always been a sweet and loving boy, but seems to like to jump our fence and greet the neighbors. Some like it, most do not. He doesn't bother them other than sniffing and sitting. This breaks our hearts, but we believe Buddy would be happiest on a farm or large acreage. And constant attention and loyalty will ensure his happiness. He is very much a velcro dog, following you everywhere. Comes when called and sits, speaks on command and gives paw. He's just 2.5 years old and 40 lbs (he loves treats). If you have cats, make sure they are confident. He enjoys playing with toys, belly rubs, chew bones, car rides, tussling with his fur family and hoomans, and performing a few tricks. He's so smart! Come meet this guy, give him his dream life! We are greatly saddened that we cannot.

Referred to by many as a “Handsome Boy,”Cassius is an active and incredibly smart boy, who’s pastimes include: chasing squirrels in the yard, munching on a chew toy, flashing his puppy dog eyes for treats and curling up with his person(s) for a nap. Cash’s energy and desire to please his owner, pair well with his healthy appetite - Food incentives, obedience training and puzzles are a sure way to get this boy tired out. Cassius is playful, sporty and incredibly loyal to his people - the perfect outdoorsy companion for an active family of adults or older children. Those with a fenced in yard, ready to play fetch and be loved by this sweet boy, could be the perfect fit. Cassius has been a blessing to our family, however he would thrive best in a single dog household - a need we ourselves could not meet for him. Critter Cavalry Rescue is trying to help several dogs like Lyla out of a small rural shelter that is cramped and hard on the spirit of the kind of dog like Lyla. She came to the shelter as an owner surrender forced by the animal control of the shelter. She and her sister were being crated 24.7 just about and this was negligent and cruel. She has been in this little shelter for almost 3 months now and her Blue Heeler spirit is just being stifled to get out and have some time to roam a yard, go for a fun run of fetch the ball or just be sleeping on a soft cozy dog bed at your feet. It is just hard on the spirit when these dogs are stashed away and unnoticed and very little attention except to feed them. She is 1-2 years old and 38 pounds. She is mostly Heeler from what we can tell but on the darker side and she is warm and friendly but cautious too because of the confinement she has experienced. Our sweet Red Heeler girl is called Calamity Jane and she is a sharp shooter girl when it comes to being smart, capable to handle herself and cute as a bonus. She was born the end of May and is currently 7.5 pounds at just 9 weeks of age and expected to be a 4o-45 pound adult dog. She and her mom and siblings were dropped off at a small town shelter in East Tennessee and Momma was all Red Heeler with stand up ears and dad was missing in action. Seems that these pups of hers are all taking after Momma in looks and temperament. She is a little taller than her sibling so she may be taller than a typical Red Heeler. If you want to know what she is like then all we can say is that she is super sweet and a huge cuddler! In a perfect world she would be a lap dog 24/7. She appears to be very smart and is a playful girl who is super fast! She has been great around other dogs. She has not met a person she did not like. Calamity will do best with a family that will help her to gain confidence in her environment by getting her out and about seeing new places and meeting new people. We call it socializing a puppy on a consistent basis and many people forget that they need to do that for a well-rounded adult dog.
