Story
Pop is a sweet girl with just the right amount of energy. Not too much, not too little. She loves everyone she meets and is great with kids, dogs and cats. She is very hard of hearing but tends to stay close to you. She is mostly house trained but does need to learn the routine first. It took a few weeks for her in her foster home. She is so gentle and loving, she would make a great addition to any family! Come meet Pop today! (PA 5/1/24)

Story
Loui is a puppy with discriminating tastes. He likes to wear clothes, loves Puppuccinos, and has been to boarding school. He has already learned the sit, stay, come, no, down, off, and shake commands. School really paid off! He walks well on a leash. He might run away while off leash but will come back if you call him. He is very social and gets lonely easily so he needs companionship. He weighs 31 pounds and is very energetic. He likes car rides, fetch, running, chew toys, walks, swimming, and wrestling. He likes cuddling and being petted. He is respectful and fearful around cats. He loves dogs and going to the dog park where he is easygoing, friendly, and playful. He has no experience with children and will need to live with kids at least eight years old because he is jumpy and mouthy. He only got into trouble for chewing. He is mostly house trained and learned how to use a doggie door. He always had free roam of the house. He was given up because his owner couldn't afford the expense nor time needed to raise a puppy. He is excitable and curious. Please offer lovable Loui the home and family he needs. (tw 4/28/2024)

Story
Lotus was a lost older pup who rode well in her finder's car. She was friendly and playful with her finder's dogs. She acts like she wants to play with her shelter neighbors too. She gets anxious to get near and barks if she can't. We haven't seen her with children yet. She seems to be house trained because she knows to do her business outside but please give her time to adjust to a new environment. She weighs 34 pounds and walks well on a leash with only occasional pulling. She might know the sit command. Or might not. She is curious and loves to explore outside. She is friendly, excitable, and jumpy. Please offer sweet Lotus the home and family she deserves. (tw 4/8/2024)

Story
Lily thinks her job is to protect her home and family and she takes this job very seriously. When she through "working" for the day, she'll want to cuddle and sleep at the foot of your bed. She is affectionate and loves being petted and sitting on a lap. She weighs 36 pounds and is moderately active. She likes running and chase. Speaking of chase, she can't live with cats because she thinks they are there to be chased. She prefers to lead while on a leash. She is house trained and will scratch or bark at the door when she needs to go out. She spent her days freely roaming the house. She is obedient and knows the sit, come, and stay commands. She is easygoing, friendly, and playful with children of all ages. She is friendly and playful with some dogs but dominant with others. If you have a dog, you'll need to bring it to meet her to be sure they are compatible. She was given up because her family no longer had time for her. She got into trouble for barking, digging, begging, and racing out the door. She is wary of strangers so give her time to warm up to you. Please offer mellow, lovable Lily the home and family she needs. (tw 5/1/2024)Are you a senior too? CAP offers free adoptions to adopters over 60 if the animal is over seven years old!

Story
I am a happy and healthy young guy - just recovered from that accident with the car. My hip is working great and I am (almost) good as new. I live in a home with other dogs, cats and a small child. I'm fine with everyone. I'll play in the yard and then settle in for a nap and cuddle time.

Story
Brisbane is shy but friendly. He is also jumpy and excitable, active and playful. He was abandoned at CAP and can't figure out why his family isn't around anymore. He seems to have learned a few things in the past like the sit command and he might be house trained because he seems to know to do his business outside. Please be patient though if he needs more training. He weighs 46 pounds and enjoys leading the way on a leash while curiously inspecting his surroundings. We haven't seen him interact with children or other dogs but he is very interested in his shelter neighbors. His response to other dogs is inconsistent so you'll need to bring yours to meet him to be sure they get along. He is alert. He is a determined snuggler and likes sitting on a lap. Please offer affectionate, shy Brisbane the home and family he deserves. (tw 4/19/2024)Brisbane is eligible for CAP's Foster to Adopt program due to some medical needs. Please ask a CAP staff member about the program.

Story
Est dob: 1/22/2019 Drax is a calm, friendly, affectionate, and very easy going guy. He’s about 4 years old and is an Australian Shepard mix. He is in a home with other dogs and has been with teenage kids as well. Drax is house broken, but always expect an adjustment when any pet enters a new environment. Unfortunately, Drax was fed way too much by his previous owners and has become a little overweight. He currently weighs in at 160 lbs which is way too much for him! He is on a vet supervised caloric diet which he has done very well with and has already started to lose some of those extra pounds! He is becoming more energetic as 4 year old dog should be, by playing more with his current foster's dog and toys. He would be a great addition to a family wanting to help him on his journey with starting off with slow short walks as he works towards his goals. Drax is in a foster home with other dogs and adults that he does well with.  Please consider making this handsome boy a member of your family. As we are a foster based rescue, we do require a completed application to be submitted before we arrange a meet.  This can be found on our website at :  https://almosthomepetrescue.org/apply-now-1  $200 (including tax) adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heart worm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heart worm prevention while the dog is in our care. All breed and size categorizations are estimates.  If transporting out of state, the total adoption cost will be $500. This amount is inclusive of adoption fee, transport fee, health certificate, and taxes.May 6, 2024, 11:52 pm

Story
Our apartment complex is no longer allowing us keep our dog Alfie due to a neighbor complaint. We are stuck in our lease until October so we are attempting to find him a foster situation or temporary home until we can move out and get Alfie back. We are also comfortable with him finding his forever home as we do not him to have to move around over and over again. He’s such a sweet soul and will love you every second of the day. Very puppy energy and gets excited loves kisses and pets. He is great with our almost 2 year old and crate trained. He is getting better at not tugging on the leash. Something we have been working on. We rescued him from an abuse situation from a friend and he still can cower if you tell him no or course correct.
