Story
Meet Lily! Lily is a smart, sweet, and spunky 1-year-old Collie/Australian Cattle Dog mix. At just 30 pounds, she’s a petite pup with a velvety-soft coat and a heart-melting expression. Lily gets along well with other dog friends in her home and would thrive with a confident canine companion her size or larger who enjoys a little rough-and-tumble play. Lily would love to have a large yard to run like the wind! A true cattle dog at heart, Lily is intelligent, loyal, and happiest when she has a job to do or someone to bond closely with—she tends to be a “one-person” dog and will happily claim your lap as her favorite seat. She’s crate trained, walks nicely on a leash (with the occasional reminder), and adjusts quickly to new situations once she gets her bearings. Lily would do best in a cat-free home with patient adopters who understand (or are eager to learn about) her working dog instincts. She can be a bit stubborn at times, but with the right structure and stimulation, she’ll be your most devoted sidekick. Her current family is happy to help with the transition and can recommend trainers to set everyone up for success. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and clever companion, Lily may be the perfect match! Fenced yard required. Please apply at houstoncollierescue.org

Story
Adalynn “Addie” is a very sweet, but timid girl. She and her brother were dumped at a park as very young puppies to survive on their own. By miracle, they did for about two weeks until I was able to trap her and have been working with her trusting humans. She has been making amazing progress and we are seeing her adorable personality blossom. Addie is fully vetted, microchipped, crate trained, potty trained, needs some leash training. She would do best with another well balanced medium to larger dog to play with, older kids and she does very well around cats! Addie is going to need a lot of patience and time to adjust to change. If you feel you can offer Addie this, please apply at www.HTXDOGRESCUE.com

Story
Meet rosie. Rosie is about to turn 5 years old on June 26. Rosie was born in San Antonio, Texas in 2020. Rosie is a very loving girl. She enjoys being outside and running around so she will enjoy a lovely backyard. Rosie also enjoys scenic hiking trails and lakes. Rosie also enjoys being inside and cuddling with you on the couch. Rosie is potty trained inside and usually you can tell when she has to go outside because she sits by the door. Rosie so far is okay with other dogs as long as they don’t play aggressive with her. She is a shy girl, she can be intimated by other dogs and will bark. Especially if she is around you, she is very protective of her owners. She is okay around kids however she may be super excited and jump on them. Rosie deserves a loving home and would do great with a young couple. Especially one with a huge property.

Story
Sasha has brought so much joy to our home, and we hope you find she brings joy to yours as well!Sasha loves to play! Toys that squeak, crinkle, or have stuffing are her favorites. She is also a huge fan of bones and balls. She knows how to retrieve a toy and bring it back to you and loves a good game of tug. She will drop the toy for you when giving the “drop” command. Chase is another activity Sasha loves (you chase her, she chases you).Sasha also loves to play with water in a pool or coming from a hose. She does not like rain—go figure! She is potty-trained but does not like to go outside while it is raining or the grass is wet. We keep her kenneled until she potties to make sure there are no indoor accidents during rain events.Thunder and lightning do not bother Sasha and neither does the sound of fireworks. This sweet girl enjoys her walks! We enjoy a mile walk each morning and evening. She knows to sit at crosswalks when given the command “sit” and to wait until she hears “free” before stepping off the curb. She is working on leash manners, but no longer pulls as much as she first did. She is intrigued by squirrels, but understands that a firm “no” means she cannot chase them. She’s a pretty easy dog to walk around our neighborhood, but she still pulls quite a bit here at the Humane Society.Sasha will take some time to warm-up completely to you. She is curious about people she doesn’t know, but often doesn’t want to be touched by them until she has completely warmed up. It would probably be wise to leave a leash attached to her at all times for the first several days until she feels comfortable with you. Feeding her treats will help her learn to trust you. Her favorite treats are Purina Moist and Meaty Steak flavor.I hope y’all love Sasha as much as we do!
