Story
TOP OF HIS OBEDIENCE CLASS Appr. DOB 8/28/23, weight 41 lbs Hey Hooman, they call me Willie! If you do choose to adopt me - just know that wherever you are, I'll be napping nearby to wait for the next moment that I can climb in your lap for some snuggles or just some well-placed pats. Although I adore being loved by my people, I don't pester them for affection. I'm playful when it's playtime, but I settle down and happily chill out at my hooman's feet while they read. I'm very intelligent (hello, Cattle Dog!) and catch on quickly to training. (I was top of my obedience class!) I also LOVE treats - so training me is not only a fun experience for us both but also a challenge for me to learn more tricks to show off to your friends. I already know how to automatically sit to say "please!" and have great eye contact. I'm curious when I meet other dogs on my walks (and tug on my leash when I see a cat that I want to chase). With some structure and delicious chicken, I’ve started making better choices in no time, and now I get along with all but alpha dogs. Even though I look like a basic-black Cattle Dog - don't judge me by my looks! Because if you ask the humans who helped rescue me, they'll say that it's my "if-you're-down-I'm-down!" attitude that makes me so lovable. So much so that a group of people have rallied behind me to find me my forever home. My rescue story is one that really shows how "it takes a village" to make rescue happen! A Good Samaritan found me as a stray who was probably dumped on the side of the busy Grand Parkway in front of the PetSmart in Richmond. He posted on Facebook and knocked on doors to find my owner or a foster home since he couldn't keep me. After bouncing around to several homes for my first few days post-rescue, I was ecstatic when my rescuer connected with HOPE, who networked to find a foster mom to love and care for me. At first being left alone in an apartment was something I struggled with, and believe me, my barking was frowned upon by the management. However, since my foster mom started leaving me with a delicious foraging item in my crate, I'm much more amenable to waiting for my partner in crime to get back home. Eventually my time ran out with my temporary foster mom - so I now live in a boarding facility until someone falls in love with me. Now the only eyes I'm trying to catch are those of my forever pawrent! I’m ready to bring my affectionate loyalty, boundless energy, and wicked intelligence to my new family. Could that be you? My perfect home would be out in the country where I could explore my territory without the constraints of a leash. I promise that I don’t wander far and always come back because my favorite part of the day is chilling out at my hooman’s feet (or snuggled next to their leg on the sofa!). Arrange to meet me today! My heart has so much love to give - all I need is YOU! Story
Echo is a sweet approximately 15 months old pup, who was rescued from a high kill Animal Shelter of Texas, where she spent a long time cooped up. She got lucky due to her sweet disposition. She was a shelter favorite. Echo is a very sweet and calm girl who loves her humans. She lives with both dogs and cats, and usually does not bother them as she is velcro and finds her humans to follow. She would do good as an only pet, getting all the attention and affection. She is laidback and obedient. She is also highly trainable as she is a quick learner. A home with a fully fenced yard would be mandatory for her, as well as a family who can dedicate time, patience and love. Echo is currently about 50 pounds. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. She is heartworm negative and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. Her adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, Harness, leash, and Interstate Health Certificate for our out of state adopters. Sweet Echo is being fostered in Texas, but can travel to any state, and even Canada for the right home. To meet this gorgeous girl via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, and the ones who are taken to our shelters, where they are euthanized if they are not rescued or adopted. By adopting one of our pups, you are actually saving two lives - the one they adopt, the one who takes their space in the foster home.

Story
Meet Clyde! You may remember Clyde’s sad story of cruelty and neglect.  We were shocked when we saw his pictures and heard how he had literally been strangled with a belt by his so called owner.  His strangulation caused a massive deep cut all around his neck and caused the blood not be able to circulate resulting in his face ballooning until he was unrecognizable.  He was confiscated from his owner and charges are pending.  In the meantime, we brought him into our rescue and have nursed him back to health. We could tell he didn’t know what it was like to be treated kindly, but after talking to him a bit and giving him love, he started wagging his tail. He is BEYOND sweet!!  Check him out HERE playing with his friends at daycare! We are happy to report that with the help of the vets, we provided pictures and info on the extent of his injuries to the Harris County DA's office. His former owner was prosecuted and justice was done! Clyde is about 4-5 years old and a Cattle Dog mix of sorts.  He’s friendly and fun-loving but cautious with new people until he knows you mean him no harm.  He does great with most other dogs that are medium to large in size.  He is high-energy, so he would do best in an active home and with another active dog that can play, and play, and play with him!  He’s not especially fond of cats, so a home without cats is a must. Clyde is just the sweetest, although he does get his feelings hurts easily when corrected, so he is a quick learner and pleaser.  Makes training a piece of cake! Clyde is doing fabulous in his foster home with his 2 canine siblings, but he would really love to find a forever home where he never has to worry again!  Contact us at  info@scoutshonor.org if you can help! No surprise here in Houston and considering the condition he was in, Clyde is heartworm positive, but don’t worry. Scout’s Honor is taking care of that for him and if you want to adopt Clyde before he's all clear (which would be great!) we will continue to cover the expense of his medicine and next heartworm check. We can explain it all but he's going to be just fine.     Check out Clyde playing with his friends at daycare HERE   Scout's Honor Rescue is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill TX shelters. EIN # is 87-0773073 Follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/scoutshonorrescue or Instagram at www.instagram.com/scoutshonorrescue We have multiple ways to donate: Venmo:  @ScoutsHonor-Rescue Paypal: www.paypal.me/scoutshonorrescue   https://scoutshonor.org/take-action/donate/ We are strictly volunteer based, no salaries are paid and 100% of donations go towards rescuing dogs November 5, 2024, 1:18 am

Story
LOVES TO SNUGGLE AND GET OODLES OF ATTENTION  Estimated DOB 3/25/24, weight 40 lbs. This young girl Calliope is very sweet and playful, and has energy to spare!  Her foster home has several dogs and Calliope wants to play -- er -- wrestle with all of them.  She loves to go on walks, meet new people, play with her stuffed animal toys, and snuggle on the couch for movie time. Calliope was abandoned in the parking lot of a PetSmart but fortunately, her future foster mom worked at the store and scooped her right up! Calliope knows Sit and Wait, and likes to sleep in her crate at night.   Calliope would love a home where she can get lots of attention and exercise as well as have a canine brother or sister to play with.  Is that you? Story
OPTIMISTIC GOOFBALL  Estimated date of birth is 8/8/22, weight 55 lbs. So what is a Blue Lacy, you might ask? Why, it’s the State Dog of Texas, of course!  https://www.thesprucepets.com/blue-lacy-breed-profile-4769790 Kip is a fun junky that loves to play with other dogs (sometimes it looks like Wrestlemania), but his second favorite activity is to hang out with his foster mom, chewing on a good bone.  He’s such a goofball, always optimistic, always sure that a treat is hiding in your pocket and it has his name on it!  A sweet potato – yes.   A couch potato – not so much, although when he’s worn out, he does relax and loves to be petted while he snoozes on his dog cot. Kip has been to obedience school and knows the basics (Sit, Down, Place, Wait).  He also knows how to use the doggy door and stairs, is OK with baths (he splashes around in the pond at the dog park), and looooves to go on walks (and doesn’t pull much). This boy had a rough first year of his life: abandoned at a large park, found his way to a kennel, was picked up by the City Pound, caught parvo at the pound and wound up on the euthanasia list before his foster mom sprung him!  Kip’s ideal home environment would have a mom / dad with an active lifestyle, a spunky little canine sister to play and snuggle with, and a nice size backyard to run around and get the zoomies out.  Are you up for it!? HOPE ID: D24-0113-0003 If you are interested in Kip and would like to fill out a Dog Adoption Application, please go to: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php.
