Story
Hi! My name is Sasha and I am looking for my forever home after healing from a broken leg. I am a playful pup with lots of energy. I love playtime with my humans, and I am great at playing with my toys independently. While I would rather zoom around the house all day, I am crate-trained and sleep through the night. I am learning basic commands, I love other dogs, and I am working on house training, but will need a patient family to work with me. I am shy and will take some time to warm up to you, but once I do, I`ll happily be your loyal companion. I don`t give many kisses, but I gently boop the people I love. If you are interested in meeting me, take a few minutes to complete an application, and I`ll do my best to be brave when I meet you.

Story
Hi, my name is Skye because of my beautiful blue eyes! My sister, Oakley, and I were found as strays and are now looking for our new forever homes. I'm still young, estimated DOB 12/10/2024 and probably have some Cattle Dog and Terrier in my ancestry. I'm learning so much at my foster home with other dogs, visiting kids and even some kitties and I love 'em all. I love to be held and petted, give kisses, and play until I drop. I'm crate, house and doggy door trained and have started my leash training and learning how to ask to go outside when the doggie door is locked. I'm making great progress on learning to ask to go out, but you will need to take me out often until I understand the new house rules. I love being with people and other pets. I don't jump on the bed or furniture unless I'm invited to sit or lay next to someone. I'm gentle, happy and a bit independent in that I don't need to be entertained all the time, I will entertain myself with a chewie or toy (squeaky and pull toys are my fav!). Since I'm still so young, I may find something to else to chew on in the house, so you'll need to be willing to give me lots of gentle guidance and appropriate toys. My foster says I'm excellent in the house and the car and ready to go wherever you go or just lay at your feet while you are using the computer. I'm also quite taken by the TV which my foster says is cute and entertaining. The good news is that with the right gentle training and LOTS of love, I'll be the best addition to your family ever and your best bud.  If you are interested in her, please send an email to SCP! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to SCP for review! All dogs typically show on Saturdays from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Petco in Clear Lake at 2410 Bay Area Blvd near Space Center. Since all our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule. If you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com so that the Dog Coordinator can let you know if the dog will be at the Saturday Adoption Event at Petco. If you just want to meet some great dogs looking for their forever home, please come visit with us on Saturday! The adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas. June 28, 2025, 8:50 pm

Story
TOP OF HIS OBEDIENCE CLASS  Appr. DOB 8/28/23, weight 41 lbs Hey Hooman, they call me Willie! If you do choose to adopt me - just know that wherever you are, I'll be napping nearby to wait for the next moment that I can climb in your lap for some snuggles or just some well-placed pats. Although I adore being loved by my people, I don't pester them for affection. I'm playful when it's playtime, but I settle down and happily chill out at my hooman's feet while they read. I'm very intelligent (hello, Cattle Dog!) and catch on quickly to training. (I was top of my obedience class!) I also LOVE treats - so training me is not only a fun experience for us both but also a challenge for me to learn more tricks to show off to your friends. I already know how to automatically sit to say "please!" and have great eye contact. I'm curious when I meet other dogs on my walks (and tug on my leash when I see a cat that I want to chase). With some structure and delicious chicken, I’ve started making better choices in no time, and now I get along with all but alpha dogs. Even though I look like a basic-black Cattle Dog - don't judge me by my looks! Because if you ask the humans who helped rescue me, they'll say that it's my "if-you're-down-I'm-down!" attitude that makes me so lovable. So much so that a group of people have rallied behind me to find me my forever home. My rescue story is one that really shows how "it takes a village" to make rescue happen! A Good Samaritan found me as a stray who was probably dumped on the side of the busy Grand Parkway in front of the PetSmart in Richmond. He posted on Facebook and knocked on doors to find my owner or a foster home since he couldn't keep me. After bouncing around to several homes for my first few days post-rescue, I was ecstatic when my rescuer connected with HOPE, who networked to find a foster mom to love and care for me. At first being left alone in an apartment was something I struggled with, and believe me, my barking was frowned upon by the management. However, since my foster mom started leaving me with a delicious foraging item in my crate, I'm much more amenable to waiting for my partner in crime to get back home. Eventually my time ran out with my temporary foster mom - so I now live in a boarding facility until someone falls in love with me. Now the only eyes I'm trying to catch are those of my forever pawrent! I’m ready to bring my affectionate loyalty, boundless energy, and wicked intelligence to my new family. Could that be you? My perfect home would be out in the country where I could explore my territory without the constraints of a leash. I promise that I don’t wander far and always come back because my favorite part of the day is chilling out at my hooman’s feet (or snuggled next to their leg on the sofa!). Arrange to meet me today! My heart has so much love to give - all I need is YOU! HOPE ID D24-0810-0029 Willie's $150 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas. Online application: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site Willie will be this week-end, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com, and a volunteer will get back to you.
