Story
Meet Paco – Your Loyal Shadow and Playful Pup Paco is a handsome brown and white hound mix with a heart as big as his floppy ears. This affectionate boy is thriving in his foster home and is now ready to find a forever family of his very own — ideally one with a fenced yard, a playful dog friend, and humans who will include him in their daily life. He bonds deeply and loves nothing more than being close to his people. Paco is house-trained, great on a leash, and eager to please. He loves to romp and wrestle with other dogs and is surprisingly respectful around chickens — a true southern gentleman. He’s curious with cats and learning to be polite with them, taking gentle correction well. After a fun day, Paco prefers to sleep snuggled up with his foster mom, but he also does great overnight in a crate when needed. Being outdoors is Paco’s happy place. He enjoys exploring, sunbathing, and relaxing in the grass, and he’s a fan of splashing in the water to cool off on warm days. Car rides are becoming more comfortable for him, and with continued positive experiences, he’ll soon be a confident travel buddy. Paco is the perfect match for someone seeking a loyal, cuddly, dog-friendly companion with a sweet spirit and a playful heart. If you’re ready for a devoted shadow who will follow you from the garden to the couch, look no further — Paco is ready to love you for life. Paco is being fostered in a home in Seguin, TX but can be transported to the PNW and NE. To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link. Story
I have tested heartworm positive. This means I have a parasite and need treatment. While my friends at HSNBA desperately want to help me, the shelter is too stressful an environment to undertake treatment and treatment itself is very expensive. The shelter has a few options to help with treatment, and if I steal your heart you should talk with them and your vet about what my treatment is like. For more information on heartworms, please visit the American Heartworm Society here https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basicsI am currently in a foster home and not at HSNBA, if you are interested in meeting me, please contact the nice folks at HSNBA so they can put you in contact with my foster family to set up a meet & greet. E-mail HSNBA at adoption@hsnba.org, call us at: (830) 629-5287 or stop by and speak with the folks at HSNBA at 3353 Morningside Dr. to get your information sent over to my foster home. My foster family is the best and can give you more information on me.Ru or Ru-Ru, as her foster calls her. She is a 3-year-old cattle dog going through heartworm treat. She has two more treatments left, but she is doing great. Ru-Ru is a sweet girl that craves love and affection and loves being near her foster mom. She is a little shy at first and gets startled by loud noised, but warms up to you pretty quick. Ru-Ru gets along great with my 3 dogs and my four cats. Though she seems to be in love with Luck, my black cat. Ru-Ru is crate trained and does great in her kennel overnight. She doesn't like being left in the crate during the day, but she settles down after 15 - 20 minutes with chew toys and treat. She has not had any accidents in the house or in her kennel because she has access to a doggy door and comes and goes as she pleases. Ru-Ru love to lay out the patio in the sun or be lazy in bed. Ru-Ru is the perfect match for someone looking for an affectionate, loving and loyal girl with a lot to give.HSNBA lists all animals online from the moment of intake, and our listings are updated automatically every midnight. Story
King is a sweet 1-year-old Blue/Red Heeler. In February, his mom passed away suddenly in her home. Then the police came, then the ambulance and the coroner. Sirens, bright lights, strange people in his home, not understanding what was going on, King was scared. The town had no animal control to help with pets at a time like this. The police felt that King was threatening the first responders, so they shot him in the face with a rubber bullet. The bullet pierced his nose and broke his jaw. The owner's daughter, Amy, arrived some time later and King was still laying there in the yard. She brought him home and rushed him to the vet. The bullet had pierced his nose and broken his jaw, which required surgery. IKing is now completely healed, and is an amazing dog who now needs a family to care for him through his recovery and for the rest of his life. There is currently a gofundme campaign to help pay his vet bills.   King is young and a herder breed, so he's super smart and energetic.  He needs things to do.  If he is left aone for long periods of time, his pent up energy just explodes when his people come home.  He is great with nost dogs, chases cats, and loves kids though he is too much for very young children.  He is jumpy and nippy but our trainer is working with him and will continue to work with any foster or adopter,  He is UTD on his shots and neutered.  An application for King is avaialble  at https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/57447/generic ##2344540##

Meet Sunka! 🖤🐾This smart and spirited cattle dog is just over a year old and ready to stretch her legs outside the shelter. At 54 pounds, Sunka is full of confidence, curiosity, and playful energy! 🎾🐕 She’s a bright, outgoing girl who loves to explore, learn, and be part of the action.Sunka seems to enjoy the company of other dogs — she really hit it off with Scruff! 🐶💕 She knows some basic commands, listens when corrected, and appears to be mostly house trained. With her sharp mind and big heart, she’ll thrive in a foster home that can give her the structure, attention, and fun she craves.Because of her energy level and enthusiasm for life, Sunka wouldn’t be the best match for an older adopter — but she’d be perfect for someone active who can keep up with her zest for adventure! 🏞️✨🏡 Could you be the one to give Sunka a break from the shelter and show her what home feels like? A little time, love, and play will mean the world to this smart, loving pup. 💖HSNBA lists all animals online from the moment of intake, and our listings are updated automatically every midnight. Story
Meet Lefty & Loyal – Two Brave Australian Shepherd Brothers Looking for a Patient, Experienced Foster Lefty and Loyal are beautiful 2-year-old Australian Shepherd brothers who have survived more than any dog ever should. Found abandoned, injured, and covered in porcupine quills, these boys have fought their way back with quiet strength and gentle spirits. They are now fully vetted, healing well, and slowly learning that humans can be kind. Currently, they are being cared for at an auto mechanic shop, where we work with them daily—earning their trust one step at a time. They’ve begun taking food from our hands, showing us just how much they want to open up and move forward with their lives. These brothers are not aggressive, just scared and unsure, and they need someone patient, calm, and experienced with shy or previously neglected dogs. A foster who can offer consistency, compassion, and a peaceful environment will make all the difference in their journey. What Lefty & Loyal Need: A foster experienced with timid or unsocialized dogs A quiet, secure home environment Patience and gentle guidance to help build their confidence Someone committed to helping them take their next steps toward adoption Preferably a fenced yard and another balanced dog (not required but helpful) Lefty and Loyal are incredibly special boys—sensitive, intelligent, and full of potential. With the right foster, they will blossom into the loving companions they were always meant to be. If you have a heart for helping dogs who need a second chance and the patience to guide them through the healing process, please reach out. These brothers deserve to finally know safety, comfort, and family.
