Hello everyone! I am Goose in Terryville! Yes, yes, thank you - I am very handsome, aren’t I? Even if I am carrying a few extra pounds these days. Well, who isn’t at the age of 7 (or thereabouts - I’m not saying)? Although I do tolerate dogs and cats, I tend to want to be in charge all the time (duh), and of course all the people belong to me, so there can be conflict with others who won’t get with the program. And those kitties are SOOOOOO fun to herd that my foster Moms and the lady who picked me up think I’m probably best suited to a home where all the attention is mine and I don’t have to share (YES!!). I *may* be ok with a submissive female, but that would need to be evaluated with a meet and greet, and if there are other dogs / cats in the home, my adopted would need to be very experienced with how to manage different personalities so we were all set up to succeed. Because I like to herd, and because I am a bit of a drama queen when startled by young children, it is recommended that I go to a home without them. Older dog-savvy kids are OK. I can be loud and uneasy at first with strangers. If allowed some time to get used to them (and/or bribed with treats), I quickly lose interest in being dramatic and go for all the pets! I LOVE attention. Once I decide you’re ok, I want to be everywhere you are. In your lap, in whatever room you’re in, getting pet - I’ll roll right over for belly rubs once I’m comfortable. I give the BEST snuggles and smooches! I’m great in the car, not especially fond of vets but am muzzle-trained. I could also be given medication for that. I would do great with regular walks and my very own butler - er, person to love me and be my world. Marmaduke is a big goofy lovebug! He adores children and other dogs. He is very curious about cats and chickens and is probably best in a home without those (or where he can be separated from them). He is only about 1 year old and has been in rescue all his life. He had a medical issue as a puppy that required surgery and he is completely healed from that. He will do best in a home with a secure fenced yard, another dog or dogs to play with that are not tiny since he's so big, and respectful animal-loving children that will love him as much as he loves them. Available In Old Lyme, CT This very handsome dude is Kumo! He is currently in a board/train facility in CT. He is a 2 year old energetic boy. After working with him I have learned that the best place for him would be a place with no children or other animals and an area that will have a fenced in yard with a calm area neighborhood. Kumo is a young energetic dog that loves to eat. Kumo knows his basic commands and tries to push the envelope when it come to wait and stay. When he relaxing he would prefer to be left alone. Kumo enjoys his chew toys. Kumo needs time to warm up to new people. He likes to be asked to do something over being pushed physically. Kumo will go far in the right home. He wants to work and be loved. Kumo likes to walk, jog, snuggle and get lots of pets. He is high energy with a big appetite. Kumo is neutered, current on immunizations, housebroken and on preventatives. Pebbles is about 1 year old and she was surrendered to our shelter when her owner was no longer able to care for her. She is a very friendly girl who loves all people! We are told Pebbles is an Australian Shepherd mix. She is a young and active girl who still has a puppy personality. Pebbles is a very trainable girl, already knowing how to sit and lay down. She likes to play with stuffed toys and lay in a big soft bed. Pebbles can still be jumpy/mouthy, but she takes correction well. She is looking for her forever family to take her home! We would love her new family to have experience owning Australian Shepherds or other herding type breeds. Pebbles is good with other dogs and we are told she is fine with cats. Phoebe and her babies were dropped at an older man’s home and he asked for help. This sweet momma worked hard protecting her babies and nursing them. She deserves special love and treatment now for herself. She is learning all the things in foster care to be a good pet. Phoebe loves affection and willfully responds with plenty of love back. She is good on a leash and rides great in the car. She will be a wonderful family member. Her laid back manner is so sweet and she attaches to whomever is kind to her. She loves to run and is quite athletic. She is a cute size and has a sweet loving spirit! She needs a family of her own. Phoebe is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are adopted at an event, or foster home. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. It’s obvious that Chet has STAR quality! Not only is he the most handsome guy around, but he is also a very affectionate dog and he is very smart. He went to puppy school as a youngster and learned his basic commands. He being on the receiving end of his human’s attention, snuggling with them on the couch, sleeping in the bed with them and he always gives kisses freely. He’s a lot of fun too… loves to play with toys, and if you’ll throw them, he will catch and retrieve balls and frisbees. Chet is a fairly quiet and a little shy and he want’s all of his human’s attention for himself. That being said, he needs to be the only dog in the home. He gets along with other dogs as long as they are laid back/submissive, but prefers not to live with them. He hasn’t been around little kids, but would be fine around older kids that would respect him and treat him with kindness. Chet will make a wonderful companion for some lucky family! He is three years old (dob 11/9/21) and weighs 40-45 pounds, has been neutered, micro-chipped, 4DX heartworm tested, fecal tested, is current on all vaccinations, worming, heartworm and flea prevention. His adoption fee is $400. Chet is being fostered in Tennessee. Once adopted he will be transported to his pickup location by a professional dog transport company. Our rescue ships to the Northeast area every week and his fee includes transportation. Due to state laws, we cannot accept applications from residents of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Maine since we can’t adopt directly to those states.
