Story
Hello everyone! I am Goose in Terryville! Yes, yes, thank you - I am very handsome, aren’t I? Even if I am carrying a few extra pounds these days. Well, who isn’t at the age of 7 (or thereabouts - I’m not saying)? Although I do tolerate dogs and cats, I tend to want to be in charge all the time (duh), and of course all the people belong to me, so there can be conflict with others who won’t get with the program. And those kitties are SOOOOOO fun to herd that my foster Moms and the lady who picked me up think I’m probably best suited to a home where all the attention is mine and I don’t have to share (YES!!). I *may* be ok with a submissive female, but that would need to be evaluated with a meet and greet, and if there are other dogs / cats in the home, my adopted would need to be very experienced with how to manage different personalities so we were all set up to succeed. Because I like to herd, and because I am a bit of a drama queen when startled by young children, it is recommended that I go to a home without them. Older dog-savvy kids are OK. I can be loud and uneasy at first with strangers. If allowed some time to get used to them (and/or bribed with treats), I quickly lose interest in being dramatic and go for all the pets! I LOVE attention. Once I decide you’re ok, I want to be everywhere you are. In your lap, in whatever room you’re in, getting pet - I’ll roll right over for belly rubs once I’m comfortable. I give the BEST snuggles and smooches! I’m great in the car, not especially fond of vets but am muzzle-trained. I could also be given medication for that. I would do great with regular walks and my very own butler - er, person to love me and be my world. If you think I would be a good fit for you, please fill out an application for me at https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to my new furever family.

Story
Meet Rocky! He is a 6 month old precious boy that came into rescue at just 1 week old. His entire litter has been adopted and he was in a foster to adopt home when we discovered he needed surgery to correct an injury he had when we got him at just 1 week old. He has now had that surgery and is 100% healed but his original home realized they were not ready or able to care for a dog after going through his medical process. So now this big goofball is almost grown up and needs his true FURever home! He is 90% potty trained, super playful, loves kids and dogs (hasn't been around cats) and will do well in almost any environment. He is still a puppy so has puppy energy. If you are interested in meeting Rocky please apply at our website forrescue.net. Rocky is fostered in the Huntsville, AL area.

Story
Meet Porsche! Just like her name, she's classy, impressive, and draws attention! She is a typical velcro aussie and wants to be loved on and touching her person. She thinks she's the boss but does play well with almost all other dogs. She will not do well with a dominant female and will do fantastic with a playful male! As a matter of fact, if you want two, she and Felix are fostered together and are BFFs!! She has not been around cats so she may or may not do well with them. She just wants to be loved and to play. She is about 5 years old, clearly had had at least one litter before she came to the shelter but she will never have any more! She is up to date on all her shots, spayed, chipped, HW negative and on monthly prevention. She is fostered in the Huntsville, AL area and could be available for transport but note that transport fees are in addition to our adoption fees. If you are interested in Porsche, please fill out a non-binding application on our website, forrescue.net.

Story
Available In Old Lyme, CT This very handsome dude is Kumo! He is currently in a board/train facility in CT. He is a 2 year old energetic boy. After working with him I have learned that the best place for him would be a place with no children or other animals and an area that will have a fenced in yard with a calm area neighborhood. Kumo is a young energetic dog that loves to eat. Kumo knows his basic commands and tries to push the envelope when it come to wait and stay. When he relaxing he would prefer to be left alone. Kumo enjoys his chew toys. Kumo needs time to warm up to new people. He likes to be asked to do something over being pushed physically. Kumo will go far in the right home. He wants to work and be loved. Kumo likes to walk, jog, snuggle and get lots of pets. He is high energy with a big appetite. Kumo is neutered, current on immunizations, housebroken and on preventatives. If you think this boy is a good fit for your family, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts. Disclosure: Kumo has a bite history, however he has been in a board/train facility for a few months and the trainer has seen no sign of this behavior.

Story
Meet Carly in Terryville, CT! Howdy y’all! My name is Carly, and I’m looking to capture your heart. I am a 5-year-old spayed female Australian Shepherd. I’m currently a curvy 60lbs. My foster mamas have me on this thing called a diet and are making sure I exercise every day. I enjoy the company of cats & dogs, and I do enjoy teenagers but I don’t have experience with younger children. I love my foster mamas but they say I deserve a family of my own. I’m shy at first but once I come out of my shell I love belly rubs & cuddling! If I’m excited I try to jump on occasion and love to talk with you. In the house I’m well mannered and really enjoy being a couch potato. I have my basic manners in the house and on leash. I am even happy with car rides and walks! I will get right in the car, but it’s important to tether me, or I will jump right up front with you! I sometimes get very nervous with high stress situations like grooming and vet visits, so I take medicine to help with that. With the medicine, I was a very good girl at my last vet visit. It is very important that my new family set reasonable rules for me and be consistent, because I get nervous when I don’t have consistent structure. When I know what the rules are, I’m a super sweet love bug. If allowed, I’ll happily cuddle up on the couch with you for as long as you’ll let me. I am available for adoption in CT through Australian Shepherds Furever a 501c3 non profit. If you’re in a surrounding state, please feel free to apply as we can almost always help with transport. Here is the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to her new furever family.
