Marmaduke is a big goofy lovebug! He adores children and other dogs. He is very curious about cats and chickens and is probably best in a home without those (or where he can be separated from them). He is about 1 year old and has been in rescue all his life. He had a medical issue as a puppy that required surgery and he is healed from that but needs 24/7 dog door access - he is doggie door trained. He will do best in a home with a secure fenced yard, another dog or dogs to play with that are not tiny since he's so big, and respectful animal-loving children that will love him as much as he loves them. However, as the ONLY pet (no dogs, no cats) and no children, I will be your sweet, playful, loyal and fun companion. If you have a heart for the special needs and want to be rewarded 10,000 times beyond, consider adopting this precious boy. Derek is about 9ish months old and 45ish lbs but he may grow a tad more. He came from a very small rural shelter where his chances of getting out safely were slim. He LOVES to play with other dogs, lives for attention and scratches from his human, and is 110% typical velcro aussie. He needs someone that is willing to work patiently with him to learn hand signals so he better understands how to please you (that's all he wants to do). He is learning house training but has not yet mastered it (he is close - it's the excited piddles that get him). He must have a securely fenced in yard (non negotiable) and another playmate would be great. His human needs to have the time to spend with him to train him while he is still young, so he is an even more perfect adult aussie. As an aussie, he has energy and needs to be able to run and play.
