Story
Fleury is a 6 year old mini Australian Shepherd (40lbs), and needs needs a home with no other dogs and no children. Fleury is neutered, up to date on vaccines, on flea/tick and heart worm prevention. Fleury is affectionate, loyal, and loves butt scratches and belly rubs. He is smart, food-motivated, house trained, and does well alone for several hours at a time. He enjoys tug with a rope, fetch, and jumping through obstacles. Although he's an Aussie, he's grown out of the puppy energy, and doesn't herd or nip ankles! Fleury has a history of reactivity and anxiety. He's loyal and protective of owners. Strangers, other dogs, and children frighten him. He had 1 incident biting our toddler, which is why we need to rehome. We believe it's related to upping his anxiety medication. In the meantime, we're working to find a good balance of medication for him. He needs an experienced owner, training for reactivity/anxiety, and a calm household where he can chase a ball to his heart's content!

Story
Meet Beau! He’s a 6-year-old blue merle Aussie, neutered, and one of the sweetest dogs you’ll meet. He loves belly rubs, wiggles his whole butt when he’s happy, and is a champ on a leash and loves sniff walks! Beau needs to be an only pet. This isn’t negotiable as he’s attacked our other dog multiple times, completely out of nowhere, and we’re worried it’ll end badly if we wait any longer. He’s been fine with kids before, but given how unpredictable he can be, we wouldn’t recommend him for a home with children. He’s surprisingly low-energy for an Aussie and happy to just chill. He does love fetch and going on errands where people can fuss over him. He’s terrified of thunder and fireworks (a calming wrap and a quiet basement help), and he will go after the blender or vacuum if you turn it on without a plan so it’s best to have someone take him outside or cover his ears when those are running. He takes meds daily. He’s a loving, goofy dog who just needs to be someone’s whole world.

Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. MICHIGAN RESIDENTS—>PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/TAP/2450-michigan-adoption Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications. The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport. Thank you SO MUCH for giving a homeless Arkansas pup a chance at a real life with a family of their very own!
