Story
Meet Dakota! Dakota is a vibrant one-year-old aussie/cattle dog mix who's enthusiastic spirit will bring happiness and fun-filled days to your family for years to come. All 56 pounds of her is ready and willing to join you on your next adventure! Dakota is a clever girl who has already mastered the basics like "sit". With continued training and instruction, Dakota will no doubt excel in learning manners and additional commands. She is eager to please and will thrive with daily exercise and enrichment. After her time in the yard, she heads right back into her kennel. Dakota is an explorer at heart, loving nothing more than to follow her nose wherever it may lead. A yard for her to enjoy is a must for intrepid gal. Whether you're heading out for a walk or hitting the road for a trip, she will make a wonderful companion. She's great on a leash and is always up for a snuggle after playtime is done. Based on our evaluation, we feel Dakota would do well in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She may have the potential to live with other animals as well and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you're looking for a loyal, smart, and loving furry addition to your family, Dakota might just be your perfect match. Visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today to submit your application for our darling Dakota!

Story
This wonderful girl was part of a neglect case and was forcefully surrendered. She is such a sweetheart despite the hardship of her young life. She is friendly to everyone she meets and likes kid. She does have the Aussie energy so will need an active family to keep her busy. She will also need all the basic general training as she was kept outside. We don't think she has ever been inside a house so it will be an adjustment for her, please be patient. She also spills her food as she was fed by having food thrown to her. She doesn't know what to do with a dog bed and is protective over any toy/treat she is given since she was never given these either. Any family will love the joy and smiles she brings as she is just happiness in a puppy body. We also use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Susie is a beautiful Aussie mix. She is a 1 year old and is 40lbs. Susie is fearful when meeting new people and takes time to be comfortable. She does jump up on people when she is happy to see them. She loves to play with toys and other dogs. She does love to chew Nyla bones and antlers. She will bark when someone comes to the door and she sees things in the yard. She is housebroken and knows some basic commands. Susie will chase cats when they run and may try and play rough with them. She is an active dog but calms down in the house..Susie would love a fenced in yard to play in. She will bark at things she sees went outside in the yard. She would not do good in an apartment.Susie would be a great family dog. HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter.&#226&#128&#139 Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a    $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee    to change information.   Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
Meet Gemma! Gemma is a soulful Aussiepoo girl who weighs 18 lbs. and is as sweet as can be! She is taller and slender, and has a very graceful look about her. Gemma is an affectionate snuggler who loves anyone who will pet her. She loves to follow her foster mom everywhere she goes, and will sit on the couch or chair right by your side. Gemma has a low to medium energy level, especially for an older puppy. She loves to play gently with dogs her size or smaller, and her energy level is determined by her playmate. (Gemma likes to run if they run, or to lay next to them if they stop for a rest). She is a bit intimidated by bigger dogs and may bark at them. She does seem to bond more with one person than others, but is happy for anyone to love on her. Gemma hasn't necessarily had the best life, so if she is scared she will pancake (lay down) on occasion. She is very smart and loyal to her person, she wants to please. Gemma takes treats nicely and has done well on leash. She would prefer not to be crated for long hours, and needs a family who will let her sleep in their room (crated or in their bed). Gemma has just now learned about toys, and will play for short periods with stuffed squeaky toys; but she's more about paying attention to her person and being near them. PLEASE NOTE: Gemma's hair grows long and is curly, so she gets matted easily. She has a summer haircut now, but will need to be groomed every 4-6 weeks (even if it's a bath/brush out) to keep her skin healthy and her coat free of mats. This little Gem is sure to win your heart with her love, and be the best friend you have ever had!

Story
Cooper is a very sweet and loyal shepherd mix. He's kind and playful, completely house-trained and knows all of his basic commands. He doesn't have any special needs and is up-to-date on his vaccinations. He loves to play when it's time, enjoys going for walks, running around outside, and playing with other dogs when he goes to the dog park. He also loves to be in the water. When inside, he typically likes to just chill out and takes lots of naps (usually right beside your feet). While we love him dearly, after lots of thinking and trying to find alternatives, we've come to the extremely difficult decision that its time to re-home him. We just don't have the time or capacity to give him the amount of love and attention he truly deserves so we're hoping to find him a new home that can. We'll send all of his items and adoption is free. We just want to find him a good home and avoid having to place him in a shelter.

Story
We are looking to rehome our 1 year old Australian Sheppard, Charlie. He recently bit our 9 year old niece, due to being scared. He is a reactive dog, but loves us. I just had a new baby and he loves her so much and is so good with her. He has been such a great addition to our life since we got him and we are devastated to get rid of our boy, but know it needs to happen for our baby. He is very skittish of new people and it takes time to get comfortable, but once he is he is a lover! He loves the outdoors, playing, water and cuddles! I am hoping to find him a home with someone that is patient and has a lot of time to train him and give him lots of exercise! He needs a place with a big back yard to run!
