Story
Approx. DOB: 4/5/2018                Approx. Weight: 40Lbs Adoption Fee: $ 250 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Carrie joined Furry Kids after transferring from a small town in southern Kansas.  She had been used as a breeder dog. Carrie was very fearful when she arrived to us and it has taken about 4 months in her foster home to break through to her.  She loves her other furry friends in the house and is really starting to love and depend on her foster Mom.  She is still getting used to her foster Dad. Her foster Mom has been working hard at socializing her with other people.  She is a very sweet girl and is also very smart. She will need a dog savvy family, preferably one familiar with her breed. A fenced yard is absolutely a must have for Carrie and children 10 and older. I have been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible.   Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
Approx. DOB: 5/28/19                Approx. Weight: 32 LBS Adoption Fee: $ 175 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! From her foster Mom: This little girl is four years old and had a rough start. She survived a hoarding situation for two years, then she didn’t respond well to her adopters. They tried for two years but she hardly left a bedroom, so she had little interaction with humans and probably none with dogs. They surrendered her back to us and she was pretty shut down and depressed when we got her. She was with one foster for a week then came to my house mainly because I had adopted one of her sisters and we felt Mai Mai would respond better and hopefully see a familiar face! She has blossomed beyond any of our imaginations!! In two days, she went from staying in the hallway and only venturing out when I put her on a leash to having the run of the house and playing with me and my dogs. She is so playful and will wiggle her backside and stamp her feet when she wants to play. She really enjoys playing with my two dogs and if they aren’t instigating the play, she is. Usually while they are playing, they all will get the zoomies. She loves, loves, loves belly rubs and cuddling. She likes to be brushed and she did very well when I trimmed her nails. She is housebroken and walks well on a leash unless it’s a new place then she gets a little nervous. There is not a mean bone in this little girl’s body. She would do well in a family with kids (although I’ve only seen her with one kid) and/or dogs or with someone by herself since she is such a little cuddler. Fenced yard required. Story
In NIxa, MO Rusty is a one-and-a half-year-old, 30lb miniature Australian shepherd mix. Rusty has had some traumatic events in his life that have caused him to be a little fearful of people. He needs a patient adopter that understands herding breeds. He is still mouthy but doesn't bite. He needs a home with adults. Youngsters scare him. Once he warms up to a person, he will be by your side 24/7. Rusty would do very well with another pup in the family to play with. Rusty loves to destroy plushies and fetch balls. He would do well in agility training. Rusty has a ton of energy so he will need a safe yard to run in. He does tend to play rough with other dogs. With a little training Rusty will be the perfect companion. For an adoption application, please email Lissa at: eoawster1982@gmail.com Rusty's adoption fee is $200. Note: Dogs are pack animals and do not do well away from other members of their pack. The adopter is the alpha member of the pack, and the dog or puppy needs as much one-on-one contact with the alpha as possible. For this reason, all Route 66 Rescue Inc. dogs are adopted to inside homes only. They must be on leash, or inside a secure fence when outside, and not left outside alone when no one is home. Invisible fencing does not qualify as protection since other animals and strangers have access to the dog. The dogs must be returned to Route 66 Rescue, Inc. if ever given up by the adopter. Thank you for understanding we want only the best for the dogs you give a forever home.
