Meet Hashbrown! This sweet, shy girl needs a little time to warm up, but is full of fun and love once she does. She enjoys playing with the other dogs at her foster home and would love to be part of a pack. (She’s very submissive and gets along well with every dog she’s met so far). Story
Koda is about a year and a half old, born on September 2, 2023. He is very playful and cuddly, with a love for sleeping in. He absolutely loves to run and play chase, and he also enjoys chewing on toys, especially plushy ones! He is reactive to other dogs, children, and people. He is able to adjust to other dogs and cats in a home after just a couple weeks. Watch your food around him, he will claim it at a moment's notice, haha. He is crate trained, and can not be left out alone for very long or he becomes destructive. I got him a few months ago from an acquaintance who could no longer keep him due to health issues and have been working on his reactive behavior, but will be moving soon and will no longer be able to keep him. He needs somebody who is able to work with him and help him feel secure. He is a big sweet anxious baby!

Story
Meet Dumbo! This one-of-a-kind, 1-year-old Australian Shepherd mix may not have big floppy ears, but he does have a huge heart and a personality that just might fly away with yours. Currently living in a foster home, Dumbo is a playful, cuddly pup who lives for toy time, lap snuggles, and the occasional scoop of ice cream. He’s also a work in progress who needs the right person willing to put in the time and care he truly deserves—someone who sees beyond his cuteness and is ready to help him thrive.Dumbo is deaf, which means he experiences the world a little differently. While that doesn’t stop him from being playful, smart, and affectionate, it does mean he needs a home with structure, patience, and an understanding of how to communicate and train a deaf dog. He’s currently living in a foster home, where he`s learning how to navigate life and be the best boy ever! He’s incredibly eager to learn and connect—but it takes commitment.Dumbo needs a home without children or cats, as he can be easily startled and sometimes unsure of new experiences. He’s an energetic boy and won’t thrive in an apartment—he needs a house with a secure yard where he can safely explore and burn off his energy. Dumbo loves to hang out with other pups and he would love to meet any potential canine siblings! Our staff will carefully handle all dog-to-dog introductions at the shelter to ensure a great match. If you`re looking for a sweet, smart, and special pup to join you on life’s adventures, Dumbo is ready to soar into your heart. Come meet him today!Dumbo was able to go on a Dog Day Out recently and here is what they had to say, `Dumbo had an amazing day out! We started the adventure with a stop for a pup cup, which he enjoyed so gently—it was adorable. After that, we headed to a big backyard where he had a blast chasing toys around. Dumbo loves tennis balls and could play fetch all day! When the rain started to come down a little harder, we headed inside where Dumbo curled up for a cozy nap. He’s a smart boy who seems to know when it’s time to play and when it’s time to relax. Dumbo would thrive in a home with plenty of space to run and play, ideally with a backyard where he can get his energy out. He also showed some natural herding instincts, so it’d be fun to see how he does with a big herding ball or other enrichment activities.`Dumbo is neutered, microchipped, up to date on his vaccinations, and ready for his forever home! Please read bio before applying! Meet Merlin. This young man has had a rough go of it at just 1 year old. Merlin came to us as a commercial breeder release and when we got him at 6 months old, he had never been handled by humans. As a result, he is very distrusting of humans and requires a lot of patience and time to adjust to new people. Merlin is very dog friendly and because he is more comfortable with dogs than humans, we are requiring that he go to a home with at least one other canine. This will help set him up for success. He will also need a home with a secure fenced in yard, as he can be a bit of a flight risk, and he will need a home with no small children. Merlin has the potential to be an amazing companion, he just needs someone who will give him the time he needs to adjust

Story
Farley was bred in Independence, MO and flown to North Florida where he was raised on a family farm with another dog and various livestock. He took to basic obedience training very well and is very responsive to commands and human leadership. He absolutely loves to help people herd and track livestock. His owners moved across the country into a small apartment and were unable to bring him, so he went back to live with his parents and a few siblings in Independence. Unfortunately, now that he is about 2 years old, he does not get along with his dad. Otherwise he has always been great with other dogs. He is very gentle with people, walks to heel with or without a leash, does not jump, responds to commands, and has some house training, although he has spent most of his life outdoors. We are looking for a home where he will have room to run and strong, loving human leadership to help him stay active and happy.

Story
Willow is a sweet, gentle soul who loves nothing more than curling up next to you after a long day and watching the world go by. She deserves the stability and time that I wish I could give her, but my long work hours and apartment complaints have made it impossible for her to thrive here. Letting her go breaks my heart, but I know she deserves a home full of peace, patience, and presence.

Story
Hi friends! My name is Willy. I'm a border collie mix of sorts and quite handsome if I do say so myself. I'm a bit of a special dog, a real shy guy, but if someone would just give me a chance I will make a great companion. I love other dogs, as long as they're friendly, and I absolutely must go to a home with another friendly dog or two to show me I'm in a safe place. We all need some reassurance sometimes, right? I also need a fenced yard. Whoever my new owner is will need to be able to give me lots of time and space to feel comfortable with them. I'm a really good boy, I'm crate trained and house broken, but until I get used to you I'm gonna need you to keep your paws to yourself. I promise it's not personal, and you'll see I'm worth the wait! Willy is neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped. He's located at The Pet Connection Sanctuary in Beloit, KS, but transportation to the right home may be available. To learn more about Willy please contact The Pet Connection by call or text- 913-671-PETS (7387).

Story
Jai is a 50-pound mixed breed sweetheart who brings just the right balance of playfulness and calm to any home. With her gentle personality and affectionate nature, Jai has quickly become a favorite among our volunteers and fosters. She’s an incredibly friendly girl who gets along beautifully with dogs, cats, and kids. Whether she’s cuddled up for a nap, hanging out in the backyard, or greeting new friends with tail wags, Jai’s easygoing demeanor makes her a wonderful companion for families, couples, or individuals alike. Jai is both house trained and kennel trained, which makes the transition into a new home smooth and stress-free. She loves to go on walks, lounge in the sun, or just be near her people. While she’s laid-back by nature, Jai also enjoys some fun and playtime—especially if it involves outdoor exploring or sniffing around the yard. She would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where she can run and roam freely or with an active adopter who enjoys getting out and about. Jai is the type of dog who will happily match your energy—ready to relax when you are, but excited to join when it’s time for a little fun. The only exception to Jai’s friendliness? Chickens. She just can’t help herself around them, so a chicken-free home is a must. Jai's adoption fee is $200. This fee includes her vaccinations, spay surgery, microchip, and heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Jai was diagnosed with Ehrlichiosis, a condition that occurs when dogs are bitten by an infected tick. She has received treatment and has experienced no further issues since. If necessary in the future, certain antibiotics, particularly doxycycline, are highly effective. This treatment is the preferred choice as it is readily available and generally well tolerated. Ready to give Jai the second chance she deserves? Apply to adopt at lucky13rescue.org and make her part of your story.
