Story
This wonderful girl was part of a neglect case and was forcefully surrendered. She is such a sweetheart despite the hardship of her young life. She is friendly to everyone she meets and likes kidd. She does have the Aussie energy so will need an active family to keep her busy. She will also need all the basic general training as she was kept outside. We don't think she has ever been inside a house so it will be an adjustment for her, please be patient. She also spills her food as she was fed by having food thrown to her. She doesn't know what to do with a dog bed and is protective over any toy/treat she is given since she was never given these either. Any family will love the joy and smiles she brings as she is just happiness in a puppy body. We also use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Tosh is a 21 mo, 29 lb Aussie mix who is a sweetheart in the calm of our home. However, she is overwhelmed by our urban neighborhood. She barks at vehicles, pedestrians, and other dogs. She is also reactive to our 3rd flr tenant who comes through our house, so he has to text ahead whenever he comes through, which is an untenable situation for all of us. Tosh was picked up as a stray in rural TN and taken to a county shelter last summer. She was heart worm positive, so she was placed in a boarding/foster setting for the duration of her treatment. Online, her personality was described as sweet. Tosh adjusted well to our household, including our cat, but we could not walk her due to her reactivity to busy streets. She is on Prozac, and we have been following the Spirit Dog program for reactivity. Knows basic commands; no chewing; no resource guarding. Tosh is making steady progress, but our tenant cannot keep texting his every move, and she would be so much happier outside the city.

Story
Apollo originally came to ACCT as an owner surrender on 3/25 due to note enough room. The owner noted that Apollo likes to run chase birds and squirrels picks and chooses what dogs he likes very friendly with people. He is high energy and has major separation anxiety extremely vocal will cry loud in kennel. They mentioned that a pitbull tried to attack them and Apollo defended them but did not hurt the dog just stood his ground! They noted that Apollo loves children, chases cats and picks and chooses which dogs he likes. They noted that an ideal home for Apollo is onw with a lot of space and outdoor time... he can probably jump the gate... and he will! Apollo was adopted and returned on 4/1 due to noise complaints. The adopter noted that Apollo is a perfect gentleman, leash walk with no pulling. Took stairs one at a time behind me/ helped me to get up from floor/toilet. Got along perfectly with my little dog. Takes treats very politely, always cheerful. Comes immediately when called by name. He is Medium energy, enjoys some activity. He has separation anxiety. If he were homed in a more remote single residence no one but his guardians could hear him so his anxiety would dissipate in due time. He knows the commands sit, stay, come, steady, settle, no no, wait. He walks excellently - heel position or without pulling. He likes any treat, and his favorite toys are ball and stuffed teddy bear. He polite with strangers, for children he stands very still waving his plume tail, he is non-reactive towards cats out on a walk and he likes other dogs very much. They noted that an ideal home for Apollo is a single home so that he has time to get past his separation anxiety so as to not be overheard when yelping. Apollo is very willing and able to be a service type "helper" dog who will adjust his stride to a crippled person and will stand steadily and brace himself to help a person to stand. He is trying to learn to pick up dropped items and hand them to his person 4/2 staff noted- Apollo was very friendly outside today! He was easy to leash and was friendly outside with multiple staff members leaning in for pets and soliciting attention. 4/1 staff noted- Upon intake, staff took Apollo from the owner. She walked him towards dog intake where he saw another dog coming out of the room. He started fixating and low growling very loudly while pulling towards the dog. The staff short armed him away from herself and the dog in case he redirected. Day Trip 3/30/24: Apollo did so good today on our day trip! We started off by going in my backyard where he had time to play and run around. Apollo LOVES to play ball and he even drops it for you! We went for a 2 mile walk today and he could have walked more if I let him. He's definitely a dog that would do well on hikes. Apollo never showed aggression when walking passed other dogs, he was very calm and respective of other dogs during our walk. He does pull occasionally on leash but for the most part walks very well without pulling. He listens well to cues too! I took him to starbucks where he got a pup cup which he really enjoyed and then he got some chicken nuggets. Apollo takes food very nicely. Apollo knows sit, down, and paw and responds really well to them when you ask him to do it. He's overall a very sweet dog and we had a very pleasant outing today. 3/29 staff noted- Took Apollo out to get him ready for a day trip and he was a goofy boy! He was howling in his kennel and was so happy to get out of the kennel and was easy to leash. While in the office, he ran around and seemed like he wanted to play. 3/25 staff noted- Saw Apollo pawing at the kennel door VERY hard, hard barked when he saw me. The kennel door was shaking pretty hard, hopefully won't break door. Story
MERCURY Breed: Australian Shepherd Gender: Male Approximate DOB: 3/11/2019 Size: Medium Weight (Potential): 40 (40) Color: White and blue merle Health: IBS, General anxiety and separation anxiety, crystals in bladder, on prescription food for GI issues and daily medications to manage anxiety. Shedding: Moderate Grooming Needs: Moderate Spayed/Neutered: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Unknown Good with Children: No Appropriate for city living: No A secure, physical fence is required. Adopters must live within 30 miles of King of Prussia, PA. Mercury is as sweet as he is handsome and at a young age he had to overcome quite a bit. He was born in a Pennsylvania puppy mill and rescued at 17 weeks of age. He was frightened and had no idea how to live in a home. Over time with a lot of veterinary care, we have found a diet that agrees with his GI system and have worked with our trainer and veterinary behaviorist to manage and treat his severe anxiety. He is a work in progress but has improved with the help of medication. H will likely need medication and prescription food for the rest of his life and will need someone to monitor the crystals in his bladder so he does not develop a blockage which can usually only be fixed with surgery if things get too severe. Mercury loves to play with toys and monitor the yard for "intruders" like birds and squirrels. He needs a very secure, solid 6-foot fence to contain him (he is a climber, jumper and digger) as he needs a yard to burn off his energy but gets a bit overwhelmed on leash walks (this is a work in progress, too). He will flash a huge smile when he greets you and will pretend that he is a tiny lap dog as soon as you sit down. He likes to watch TV but also is really good at catching a ball. Mercury needs a very loving and patient adopter who has an adult-only home and is willing to manage his medical and behavioral issues all while helping him build his confidence. He isn't a dog for the faint of heart, but he will make yours skip a beat as soon as he gives you a hug. *All dogs will go through a transition period after finding a new home and may need a “refresher course” in house-breaking.
