Story
Meet Sangria, Cosmopolitan, Sazerac, and Margarita! These ladies and their brother are 12 week old Australian Shepherd mixes who were saved from a commercial breeding facility in Lancaster county due not being sold quickly enough. Sadly, this happens all the time due to the alarmingly high amount of dogs that puppy mills are constantly producing. It is simply easier for them to give the older puppies up as they don't care how much they use and abuse their breeding mothers, making them produce litter after litter. These sweethearts are understandably shy and nervous at first, but are doing a great job learning to trust new people! As with all dogs we save from puppy mills, they will need a family who is understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with them as they learn to live in a house and around people. They will need time to trust their new family before working on training, such as house training. This should go without saying, but we require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY. Puppy mill dogs tend to do best in a home without young children as well (10+), though this determination is made on a case by case basis. These are high energy working breed dogs and will require a very active family up to the task of providing them the ample physical and mental exercise they require. Herding breed experience is strongly preferred. If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org

Story
ADOPTION PENDINGBear is a 2.5 year old neutered male aussie/husky mix who weighs 65 lbs. Bear is looking for a new home after his family could no longer care for him. Unfortunately, he was hit by a car and had a broken leg. A pin was placed to stabilize the break as it healed, and Bear was kept on crate rest in his foster home. He was a model patient through his recovery and after months of rest he is as good as new now! The pin has been removed and Bear is now able to be the dog he was destined to be - a happy, playful, but also chill companion looking for love. Even though he can have bursts of high energy, he is relatively calm and laid-back. He has been fine with other dogs and has shown very little interest in cats. Bear loves to play ball and is an expert soccer ball dribbler. Bear loves to spend time with his people and has done well with older kids. He has the softest coat that begs for pets and a sweet personality that will draw you in. We adore this sweet boy and cannot wait to find him the forever family he so desperately deserves! Please help us find Bear the family he's been dreaming of!Interested in adopting?
