Story
Meet Huckleberry aka Huck who is available for adoption within NJ! Huck is 7 years old, about 54lbs, up to date on vaccines and heartworm/flea/tick preventative, housebroken and crate-trained. He’s a very good dog, so well-behaved and would make a good companion or family dog! He’s nervous around sudden noises and strangers, but he warms up quickly and gets along with other dogs and children. He loooves pets, belly rubs, and attention. He is a great running and hiking buddy and loves cuddling on the couch as a couch potato. Don’t leave him alone with your food! He loves food and likes to stand between me and the stove when cooking…and waits to taste test any food that drops. He’s very food and treat motivated and learns new commands quickly. His previous owner didn’t crate train him but he learned the command “go to crate” in about a week! He doesn’t play with toys but loves food puzzles, learning commands, and running off leash. Huck hasn’t met a cat until I fostered him. He’s very curious about my cat where they both sniffed but then scared each other since they differ in communication and play styles. He has potential to get along with cats but they should have their own separate spaces, especially vertical space for the cat since he wants to chase my cat when she runs. He tolerated my cat but grew jealous of her over time whenever I gave her attention. On walks, a couple cats crossed our paths and they didn’t faze Huck. Huck is a good dog off leash with other dogs and people but still needs continued training on leash. When on leash, he pulls and barks, sometimes jumps, at strangers and other dogs but he is slowly improving when distracted with lots of treats. He tends to run towards other dogs to play. Treats don’t work as well to distract him and I’d have to grab the handle on his harness to break focus and sit for treats. Ideally, his new home should have a large fenced yard or a fenced dog park nearby where he can run around in. He currently goes to doggy daycare multiple times a week. If Huckleberry sounds perfect for you, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family.

Story
MERCURY Breed: Australian Shepherd Gender: Male Approximate DOB: 3/11/2019 Size: Medium Weight (Potential): 40 (40) Color: White and blue merle Health: IBS, General anxiety and separation anxiety, crystals in bladder, on prescription food for GI issues and daily medications to manage anxiety. Shedding: Moderate Grooming Needs: Moderate Spayed/Neutered: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Unknown Good with Children: No Appropriate for city living: No A secure, physical fence is required. Adopters must live within 30 miles of King of Prussia, PA. Mercury is as sweet as he is handsome and at a young age he had to overcome quite a bit. He was born in a Pennsylvania puppy mill and rescued at 17 weeks of age. He was frightened and had no idea how to live in a home. Over time with a lot of veterinary care, we have found a diet that agrees with his GI system and have worked with our trainer and veterinary behaviorist to manage and treat his severe anxiety. He is a work in progress but has improved with the help of medication. H will likely need medication and prescription food for the rest of his life and will need someone to monitor the crystals in his bladder so he does not develop a blockage which can usually only be fixed with surgery if things get too severe. Mercury loves to play with toys and monitor the yard for "intruders" like birds and squirrels. He needs a very secure, solid 6-foot fence to contain him (he is a climber, jumper and digger) as he needs a yard to burn off his energy but gets a bit overwhelmed on leash walks (this is a work in progress, too). He will flash a huge smile when he greets you and will pretend that he is a tiny lap dog as soon as you sit down. He likes to watch TV but also is really good at catching a ball. Mercury needs a very loving and patient adopter who has an adult-only home and is willing to manage his medical and behavioral issues all while helping him build his confidence. He isn't a dog for the faint of heart, but he will make yours skip a beat as soon as he gives you a hug. *All dogs will go through a transition period after finding a new home and may need a “refresher course” in house-breaking. Story
Meet Currant, the 6-year-old Mini Aussie with a heart as sweet as her name! Currant’s journey hasn’t been easy, but she’s blossoming more every day! Once very shy and unsure, she’s slowly coming out of her shell and learning to trust. She now follows her favorite people around like a little shadow and, with those she trusts, happily accepts pets. She’s even started leash training and does great when she feels safe! The Perfect CompanionCurrant gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats, learning from her furry friends and thriving in their company. She’d also do well as your one-and-only, soaking up all your love and attention. Her happy place is a fenced yard where she can let loose with joyful zoomies, and her favorite thing in the world? Treats! She’ll follow you anywhere if snacks are involved. Chill Vibes OnlyThis low-energy sweetheart is crate-trained, quiet, and only barks when absolutely necessary. She’s doing great with potty training and is already a pro with puppy pads. While she’s still on the shy side and snuggling isn’t quite her thing yet, she enjoys gentle affection from those she trusts. What Currant NeedsCurrant is looking for a calm, patient family who will continue to nurture her growing confidence. A fenced yard, a kind heart, and plenty of treats are all she asks for in her forever home. Currant is ready to trade her rough start in life for a future filled with love, understanding, and belly rubs (eventually!). If you’re the patient, loving hero she’s been waiting for, apply today to make her dreams come true! She is being fostered in Saylorsburg, PA.  Potenial adopter must be willing to travel to her location for meet and adoption Currant is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.  If you’re interested in giving Currant her forever home, please apply! https://peytonsplaceanimalrescue.org/adoption-application/ ##2225774##
