Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Blu is 11 yrs old Bleu proves you’re only as old as you feel, and this guy definitely doesn’t act his age. He joins his foster dad and hiking group for 3-mile hikes and only starts to drag a little at the end. Everyone in the group likes Bleu, which says a lot about this sweet guy. Bleu loves playing outside and will need a fenced-in yard. He enjoys chasing squirrels and the occasional bunny, but it’s just to see them run. He also loves playing ball, especially with his foster dad, but he’s happy to play on his own outside, too. On his first day in foster care, Bleu made friends with a golden Lab through the fence. Now, when they’re both outside, they meet at the fence to say hello. Bleu does well meeting other dogs, though he prefers the company of people. This smart guy already knows commands like “stay,” “come” and “fetch the ball.” Treats are his motivation as he learns new commands. It’s not all about playtime with Bleu; he also likes to cuddle and would be a lap dog if allowed. Bleu will bark, but it’s mostly his way of saying, “Hi, here I am.” When he sees strangers, he’ll bark in hopes of making a new friend. Once he’s met them and been allowed to give a sniff and maybe receive a pet or two, he’s ready to return to walking with his person. This amazing sheltie/aussie mix is affectionate, sweet and cute. He loves to play and also likes to be right next to his person. Bleu is almost home. Let’s help him find his forever home.Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.June 29, 2026, 9:05 pm

Story
Meet Sting 🖤Sting is a 4–5 year old Australian Shepherd mix weighing about 64 pounds who is quietly learning that life can be kind. He came to us from a hoarding situation, and while he has already made wonderful progress, the world is still a new and sometimes overwhelming place for him. Sting is a shy, timid boy with an incredibly sweet nature. Everyone who meets him says the same thing — this dog doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He simply needs a little time and patience to feel safe and understand what it means to be part of a family.Because of his background, Sting is still figuring out how to “be a dog.” One thing we've already learned about him, though — he absolutely loves the ladies! He takes comfort in gentle voices and calm companionship. We believe Sting would thrive in a home with a confident, friendly dog who can help show him the ropes and give him reassurance as he continues to blossom.Recently, one of our volunteers experienced a breakthrough with Sting. Instead of taking a treat and retreating to a safe spot as he often does, Sting chose to stay nearby. He ate his treat right in front of her, then gently licked her hand before walking away. It may seem like a small moment, but for Sting, it was a huge step—and a glimpse of the loving dog waiting beneath his cautious exterior. The best part about dogs like Sting is what happens once they learn to trust. When you earn his heart, you'll gain a deeply loyal companion who will quietly adore his person. The journey may take a little longer, but dogs like Sting have a way of making every milestone feel special.Sting is already crate trained and potty trained, and he's ready to continue his journey in a patient home that understands that the most special dogs sometimes just need a little extra time. A confident dog in the home is a must for Sting's success. He is currently available for foster or foster-to-adopt, giving someone the chance to help this sweet boy continue discovering how good life can be. Apply at www.caninecollective.org.

Story
Murphy came in with his brother Mack. Both are sweet, loving, mid- to high-energy boys. Murphy started out more independent than his brother and still probably is a bit, but he also seeks out attention from time to time and can be very affectionate. Murphy looks more like pure Aussie than his brother, but he may still be mixed. We'd love Murphy and Mack to be adopted together. They are bonded and thrive in each other's company and the company of other dogs. A physically fenced yard is required. Murphy is available for adoption in Ohio to residents of Ohio. If you are interested in adopting Murphy, please complete the online application here (copy and paste into your browser): https://hhdane.formstack.com/forms/lostpetrecoveryadoptionform

Story
Mack came in with his brother Murphy. Both are sweet, loving, mid- to high-energy boys. Mack has been just about the sweetest boy ever from moment one—extremely affectionate and just loves giving you big Mack hugs. He loves when you let him be a Velcro dog, but don’t get the wrong idea—when you need your own space, he is very good about not being pushy about it. Mack’s brother Murphy looks more like pure Aussie, but we’re pretty sure that’s Mack’s mix as well. We'd love Mack and Murphy to be adopted together. Medium• Bio:  Meet Rumor Rumor is a 16-week-old double merle Heeler who is deaf and visually impaired, but don’t let that fool you—this little girl is full of confidence, love, and personality! Rumor came to Speak! For The Unspoken from southern Indiana with her sister, Secret, after the girls found themselves in a shelter needing a second chance. Since arriving in foster care, Rumor has proven that her disabilities don’t slow her down one bit. She is incredibly people-oriented and absolutely lives for cuddles. If you’re sitting down, expect Rumor to be right beside you (or preferably in your lap!). She loves being around her humans and is happiest when she’s included in whatever you’re doing. Rumor also adores other dogs and enjoys having canine friends to play and snuggle with. She has been wonderful with children and truly seems to enjoy their company. Rumor is gentle, affectionate, and patient, happily soaking up attention from kids and curling up beside them for snuggles. She loves being part of the action, whether that’s joining in family activities, following the kids around the yard, or settling in for a movie night on the couch. Despite being a Heeler, she does not chase or nip at children, making her an exceptional fit for a family looking for a puppy who is both playful and gentle. One of Rumor’s most impressive accomplishments? She is fully crate trained and will often put herself to bed when she’s tired. She’s a smart girl who thrives on routine and has adapted beautifully to the world around her. Rumor is already spayed and is nearly ready to find her forever family. She will receive her final round of puppy vaccines during the second week of July, and after that she will officially be available for adoption. This special girl may experience the world differently, but she doesn’t let that stop her from living life to the fullest. All she wants is a family who will love her, spoil her with cuddles, and appreciate the incredible dog she is. Her foster family describes her as the total package—sweet, social, cuddly, dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and always ready to share her love. Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Todd is a 2 yr old Border Collie mix and new to our rescue.  Todd will welcome you with a BIG “hello!” This goofy guy is overjoyed when he meets people, jumping to greet them and zooming around! Todd is an active pup who loves to socialize with humans and has the kind of personality that makes him a great companion for adventures big and small. With all that energy, he would likely do best with regular exercise. He can also be a total cuddlebug and loves his daily snuggles.   His enthusiasm abounds! Todd has eagerly made some canine friends and brings the same over-the-top enthusiasm to playtime. He loves the outdoors, rolling around in the grass and running around. Due to his playful energy, he would likely do best in a home with another active dog who can handle his lively personality. A fenced-in yard would be a bonus for this fun-loving guy.   Todd’s foster family says he’s eager to learn and ready to please. Motivated by treats, he’s already mastered “sit” and “down,” and he’s improving on leash walking. This black-and-white sweetie will put a smile on your face and will be a loyal, loving companion in his forever home.  Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.June 29, 2026, 9:05 pm
