Despite his impairments, Lumos is full of life and enthusiasm, always eager to explore and learn about the world around him. He is incredibly smart and responsive to touch commands, and already knows place, come, sit, no and goodboy. Lumos loves to play and bounce around with his toys. Lumos would do best in a home with older children since he might accidentally knock over very young kids with his enthusiastic jumping. He will also need a fenced yard to safely play and explore. Lumos is a true light in the darkness, ready to illuminate the life of his forever family with love and joy. I’m Mercedes, a sweet and sassy Lovebug! I’m a 2-3 year old female Mixed breed. I weigh 36 pounds and am the perfect size. I am potty trained, crate trained and good with other animals. It may take me a while to warm up to you but once I do, we can be best friends! I like to follow around my foster mom and sit right next to her, as close as I possibly can and I’m also easily redirected to my bed when she needs some space. I bark at the people and dogs walking by the house but I am very friendly when I meet them on walks and at the dog park. I like playing with all kinds of toys and bones, eating yummy snacks, going for walks and taking a nap. I also love a good game of fetch including bringing the ball right back to you and dropping it at your feet. Before coming to SPEAK I was a stray and needed surgery on my hip after being hit by a car. I am much happier now that I have healed can run around. I will need some hikes and runs at the park to continue to progress and build muscle in my back leg and some patience to work on my confidence. I promise it will be worth it! She came to Dash over 10 months ago with her 2 teammates (siblings) sister Jaylen & Donovan, who have both found their forever homes. It's now this girl's turn. She is currently in the DASH Prison Program where she has mastered all of her 7 basic commands, along with some additional commands including come, stand up, off, crate, over, paw/shake and treat on the nose. She is very sweet, affectionate and very smart and would do best in an active home. She loves everyone she meets, dogs and humans alike. She has not been kid tested, but feel she would do fine with proper introductions. She has also not been cat tested. She is crate trained and housebroken in the prison setting and loves her toys, however, she would need to be watched if she has a stuffed toy, as she can sometimes destroy those. This little fellah is sweet, sassy, happy go lucky and looking for his forever home. He is currently in our DASH Prison Training Program where he is learning his manners and basic commands. He seems to have already picked up on sit, stay, down, wait & leave it. Of course he will need encouragement & continued practice as he acclimates to a new home environment. Cooper is affectionate, energetic, but also can be lazy and relaxed when it's time to snuggle. He loves water & baths, is leash trained, housetrained, doesn't complain in his crate. His trainer says he will go in his crate to sleep when he is told "bed time". He is smitten with this boy saying he is a happy dog who enjoys his toys, walks and social attention. Cooper loves all people and playing the other dogs. He has not been cat or kid tested so proper introductions are a must although Cooper would probably tell you he's ready to come home now!
