Story
Irwin has been with us for a little over a year now. We have been working on some behavioral issues, getting him ready for a forever home. We believe that Irwin is ready to find a home with someone or a family experienced with Border Collies, Aussies or another herding breed. Irwin has lots of energy and needs to have a purpose, a job or anything that keeps him busy. Irwin would not do well with apartment living. He needs his space to be Irwin. Irwin is VERY selective on the dogs he likes and will not do well in a home with cats. If you are interested in meeting this handsome boy and speaking to our staff that has been working with him, please fill out an online application. Once the application is approved, we will contact you to schedule a visit.

Story
Meet Sting 🖤Sting is a 4–5 year old Australian Shepherd mix weighing about 64 pounds who is quietly learning that life can be kind. He came to us from a hoarding situation, and while he has already made wonderful progress, the world is still a new and sometimes overwhelming place for him. Sting is a shy, timid boy with an incredibly sweet nature. Everyone who meets him says the same thing — this dog doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He simply needs a little time and patience to feel safe and understand what it means to be part of a family.Because of his background, Sting is still figuring out how to “be a dog.” One thing we've already learned about him, though — he absolutely loves the ladies! He takes comfort in gentle voices and calm companionship. We believe Sting would thrive in a home with a confident, friendly dog who can help show him the ropes and give him reassurance as he continues to blossom.Recently, one of our volunteers experienced a breakthrough with Sting. Instead of taking a treat and retreating to a safe spot as he often does, Sting chose to stay nearby. He ate his treat right in front of her, then gently licked her hand before walking away. It may seem like a small moment, but for Sting, it was a huge step—and a glimpse of the loving dog waiting beneath his cautious exterior. The best part about dogs like Sting is what happens once they learn to trust. When you earn his heart, you'll gain a deeply loyal companion who will quietly adore his person. The journey may take a little longer, but dogs like Sting have a way of making every milestone feel special.Sting is already crate trained and potty trained, and he's ready to continue his journey in a patient home that understands that the most special dogs sometimes just need a little extra time. A confident dog in the home is a must for Sting's success. He is currently available for foster or foster-to-adopt, giving someone the chance to help this sweet boy continue discovering how good life can be. Apply at www.caninecollective.org.

Story
Meet Astro, a 9 month old Australian Shepherd Mix! Gender: Male Size: Medium (25-50 lbs) Energy Level: Medium-High Dog Friendly: Yes, and requires another dog in the home Cat Friendly: Unknown Kid Friendly: Yes to kids 8 years old or older Apartment Friendly: No Physical Fence Requirement: Physical fence required, 5'-6' height required Crate Trained: Mostly, will go in with encouragement of a treat or treat toy. May cry/whine for a few minutes. Potty Trained: Not fully potty trained, working on it Ideal Home/Adopter: Astro's ideal adopters live in a quieter neighborhood. Outdoor noises are new and scary for him. He is currently comfortable going outside to potty in his foster homes backyard but gets nervous when he hears traffic and other loud sudden noises. Astro needs a family who is patient and willing to continue to work with him on his fear of noises and fear of being abandoned. In return he will give you all the love! Astro is a herding breed so his family must understand that he will try to herd you and small kids. He is a typical 9 month old, does jump and still learning what he is allowed to chew and what he is not. He is mostly potty trained but has the occasional accident when their are loud noises outside and he is afraid to go out. Astro is a quick learner and knows the commands "sit" and "no." Astro would benefit from another confident playful dog in his home to help him feel safe and get some energy out. Likes: Astro loves to give kisses, get belly rubs, play with toys and dogs, chew bones and shadow his humans. He is extremely loyal. Dislikes: Astro dislikes loud sudden noises outside (traffic, thunder, nail guns, sirens...). He is currently working on these fears with his foster family. As a former country dog, he has not heard many of these noises before. Astro currently does not like walks because of all the noises outside but with training and patience we know he can be successful! What makes this dog special: Astro is the sweetest boy and biggest love bug! He loves people and dogs. He is always happy and smiling. Australian Shepherds are called "wiggle butts" for a reason and Astro is no exception. He wiggles so much his entire body shakes! If he is resting and you look at him, his tail will start wagging. He is always smiling and is such an all around happy boy! Adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, deworming, and the dog will be current on flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. ##2750820##
