Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Philadelphia, PA Oreo is a 3 year old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix and weighs 49 lbs. He is up to date on shots, but isn’t neutered or on heartworm prevention. Oreo is nervous around strangers. He barks at them at first, but warms up after a while. He has only been around one other dog. They run and play for a while, but then he prefers to be by himself. He hasn’t been tested around kids or cats. The owner is surrendering him because they separated from their partner. He needs to find a new furever home as soon as possible! If you think you can provide a great home for Oreo, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $100 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. Story
Finnegan is a sweet boy - well behaved - yet, will be shy at first with new people, but not aggressively so. He always seems to enjoy children & other dogs. Finn has lived with cats in the past & was fine with them, although would not overly interact with them - except to sniff them briefly, as they might walk by. Unfortunately, he has had seizures in the past & now is given meds that have seemed to help greatly! Health concerns are not my reason for giving him up - 'it breaks my heart, to do so' - however, so many places to live at will not allow for pets/dogs especially. Finn has good energy for 10+ years - he's actually at a pretty perfect stage, right now, behavior wise. Even, his potty habits are great, really! Enjoys car rides & he gets around with no problems - and will interact with you, as you interact with him.

Story
Meet Sangria, Cosmopolitan, Sazerac, and Margarita! These ladies and their brother are 12 week old Australian Shepherd mixes who were saved from a commercial breeding facility in Lancaster county due not being sold quickly enough. Sadly, this happens all the time due to the alarmingly high amount of dogs that puppy mills are constantly producing. It is simply easier for them to give the older puppies up as they don't care how much they use and abuse their breeding mothers, making them produce litter after litter. These sweethearts are understandably shy and nervous at first, but are doing a great job learning to trust new people! As with all dogs we save from puppy mills, they will need a family who is understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with them as they learn to live in a house and around people. They will need time to trust their new family before working on training, such as house training. This should go without saying, but we require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY. Puppy mill dogs tend to do best in a home without young children as well (10+), though this determination is made on a case by case basis. These are high energy working breed dogs and will require a very active family up to the task of providing them the ample physical and mental exercise they require. Herding breed experience is strongly preferred. If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org
