This poor beautiful skinny mom was taken away from her babies. The babies were put in plastic bin on hot summer day and dumped in a driveway. Story
Meet Cagney! 🐾 Cagney is a sweet 7-year-old Beagle mix weighing about 25 pounds. With her silky smooth coat and adorable floppy ears, she’s as cute as she is affectionate. If you’re looking for a dog who loves her people, Cagney is your girl! One of her favorite things is being petted, and she’ll gently press her head into you to ask for more love and attention. Cagney is fully house-trained and has great potty manners. She has learned the routine by following her foster siblings outside and will let you know when she’s ready to come back in by barking or scratching at the door. Like many dogs, she may be a little shy in a new environment and appreciates seeing familiar faces while she settles into her potty routine. She enjoys playing and loves chasing her canine friends around the yard. Cagney has a confident personality and likes to be in charge, so she’d do best with a playful, easygoing dog who doesn’t mind letting her be the boss. She’s smart enough to respect the boundaries of larger dogs, too! Cagney absolutely adores people and thrives on affection. If she sees another dog getting attention, she’ll happily come over to remind you that she’d like some love, too! Because she was used to sleeping with her previous owner, Cagney can have a little separation anxiety as she adjusts to a new home. She’s doing well in foster care and has been learning new routines, but she’d love a family that’s willing to give her a little extra patience and reassurance while she settles in. She does have a big Beagle voice, but she mainly uses it during playtime or if she hears something interesting outside. Since she hasn’t been around cats in her foster home, we don’t know how she’d do with feline friends. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who loves cuddles, enjoys a little playtime, and wants nothing more than to be close to her people, Cagney is ready to meet you!

Story
Found dodging her way living on the streets to protect herself, didn't trust anyone. With a team of experts we were able to trap her and once she realized she was safe she could finally breath, she could finally sleep, she could decompress. This beautiful street dog has a good life ahead of her. Meet Sidewalk Sally Sidewalk Sally is a sweet beagle girl, around 2 years old, with a gentle soul and the biggest heart. She’s still learning that the world isn’t as scary as it seems, so she’s looking for a patient family who will let her build confidence at her own pace. Once Sally trusts you, she’s all about the cuddles. She’s a certified cuddle bug who loves cozy naps, quiet evenings, and being close to her favorite people. If your idea of a perfect weekend is relaxing on the couch, Sally will happily be your snuggle buddy. Like any beagle, Sally’s love language is food—especially chicken! She prefers to eat her meals in private where she feels safe, and she’s not interested in salty treats. Give her some plain chicken, and you’ll have a friend for life. Sally is house-trained, dog-door trained, and gets along well with other dogs. A calm canine companion could even help her continue building confidence. She does have a few adorable quirks. Household chores are absolutely terrifying in her opinion. Vacuum? Hard no. Broom? Suspicious. Mopping? Clearly unnecessary. Because of that, she’d thrive in a quieter home with patient, easygoing people. If you’re constantly rearranging furniture or tackling loud DIY projects, Sally will probably vote against it. She definitely prefers lazy humans who appreciate slow mornings, afternoon naps, and peaceful evenings. Sally isn’t looking for adventure—she’s looking for security, kindness, and someone who understands that love is earned one small step at a time. If you’re willing to give her the patience she deserves, she’ll reward you with unwavering loyalty, sweet cuddles, and the joy of watching a shy dog blossom into a beloved family member. All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Puppies adopted under the age of five months require a spay/neuter contract, and all dogs are required to be spayed by six months unless otherwise medically noted. Our dogs are currently on heartworm preventative. Puppies receive 3 to 4 rounds of vaccinations depending on their age, and adults receive two rounds unless they've been with us longer than a year, in which case they receive the booster update. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at www.dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application, please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

Story
Dolores (aka LoLo) was adopted from our program in July of 2025 but unfortunately her owner passed away suddenly. She's now back with our program and in foster care while she waits for her new family. She is eight years old and 45-50 lbs.  Lolo loves daily walks, sun puddles, naps, cuddling with her people, naps, belly rubs, and treats. Did we mention naps? While in her foster home, she's loved small interactions with neighbors and their dogs, but would do best in a calm, quiet home. Due to her age and need for space, she shouldn't be in a home with small and/or rowdy kiddos. Other calm dogs who keep to themselves would likely be ok, or she would thrive as your one and only.  Dolores is spayed, current on vaccines and microchipped. She tested positive for heartworms a year ago and was treated via the slow-kill method. She will be re-tested in July and we're hoping for a negative result.  Her adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting this sweet lady, please complete an online application today at: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/ Age: seven years Weight: 43lbsWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Benny is a senior boy with lots of energy, enthusiasm, love and affection. He lives with lots of other dogs and gets along with everyone. He would love to chase the cats if he could so might not be good in a home with cats. He loves a chance to use his Beagle voice but is not an excessive barker; only uses it when he has a reason. He loves being with his human almost as much as treat and meal times. He is not much for car rides, he is good about riding but whines seems nervous wondering where he’s going. Guessing in the past car rides did not end in fun activities for him. He’s a very social boy, loves humans of all sizes and ages and is always happy for rubs and attention. Benny has great house manners and although he uses a crate in his foster home he would be fine without one once he knows his routine. He is fully vetted - current with his vaccines, neutered, on heartworm and flea/tick prevention and he is microchipped.
