You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Zadie is a friendly girl who is looking for a new home. She is with our rescue partner in Louisiana and can some to NJ with an approved foster or adopter. Meet Zadie!  Looking for the life of the party? Zadie is about a year old, around 45 pounds, and possibly a border collie mix. She’s the perfect medium-sized sidekick with a personality that’s hard not to love. Zadie is super friendly with people and dogs, affectionate, and always up for a toy or a treat. She walks beautifully on a leash—and after the fun, she’s a big fan of relaxing in the air conditioning. She keeps her kennel clean, so she may be housetrained, though we can’t promise it. She has shown no food or kennel aggression. Zadie does chase cats, so a cat-free home would likely be her best fit. Otherwise, this fun-loving girl is the full package and ready to find her forever home!    Zadie is spayed, microchipped and is up to date on vaccines. She  completed her heartworm treatment and is ready for her forever home . Her  adoption donation is $500.   Adopting an animal is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these animal have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.NJ Meet Haven — an adorable Border Collie puppy who is as smart as she is cute! Haven is a sweet, playful girl with a curious mind and plenty of personality. Haven loves being around her people and likes to stay in the same room, happily settling nearby while she watches what everyone is doing. She enjoys walks, plays with balls and toys, and even entertains herself by tossing her stuffed toys into the air and chasing after them. She already knows “sit” and walks nicely on leash. True to her Border Collie nature, Haven has some herding instincts! She likes to practice on the resident dog by jumping on her back and nipping at her legs, so she’ll need a family who can help her learn appropriate ways to channel that energy. She also loves chasing squirrels and may let out a high-pitched bark when she’s frustrated that she can’t catch them. Despite her puppy antics, Haven has a wonderfully sweet disposition and is eager to be part of whatever her people are doing. With continued training, playtime, exercise, and plenty of love, Haven will make a wonderful companion for an active family. Haven is up to date on her puppy vaccines, already spayed and microchipped, and her adoption fee is $600. - Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption. Story
Hi, I’m Duke! I`m Duke, a 3-year-old...Um. DOG. Definitely a dog.Beyond that, your guess is as good as mine. Some people look at me and say: `Border Collie!` Other people say: `Flat-Coated Retriever!` Someone else inevitably walks by and says: `There`s gotta be some Shepherd in there.` And I say:`COOL. ARE WE GOING OUTSIDE OR WHAT?`We may never solve the Great Duke Genetic Mystery. What we DO know is that I`m extremely cute, wonderfully sweet, very happy...and... HIGH. ENERGY. Please notice the period between those words. It is there for emphasis. I NEED TO MOVE. If your idea of owning a dog is opening the back door once in a while and then spending the remainder of the day together on the couch... I respect you. I wish you well. PLEASE SELECT ANOTHER DOG. I need real exercise. Walks. Adventures. Things to do. Places to go.Ways to use my brain AND my body. And just as importantly? I NEED STRUCTURE.Because I have opinions. Sometimes those opinions come out as:BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK.What am I barking at? Excellent question. Sometimes there is an obvious answer.Sometimes there is not. Perhaps I heard something. Perhaps I saw something.Perhaps the wind moved suspiciously. I WILL BE INVESTIGATING.Now, you could let me bark at whatever I want whenever I want. You could laugh and say: `Oh Duke! You`re so silly!` You could let me make all my own rules. And do you know what would happen? I WOULD GET REALLY GOOD AT BEING ANNOYING. Practice makes perfect, guys. That`s why I need someone who`s willing to train me, give me boundaries, and consistently show me what behavior is expected. Not someone mean. Not someone harsh. Someone who understands that dogs don`t magically arrive knowing how humans want them to behave. YOU HAVE TO TEACH US.I`m already a really nice dog. I`m sweet. I`m happy. I`m fun. I`ve got loads of personality. But being a nice dog and being a well-behaved dog aren`t automatically the same thing. That`s where you come in.Exercise me. Train me. Give me structure. Be consistent. Give this big mystery brain something productive to do. And THEN? Absolutely. Let`s collapse on the couch together. I WILL HAVE EARNED IT. I`m Duke.Put in the work...AND I`M GOING TO BE ONE AWESOME DOG. Duke is neutered, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. His adoption fee is $500.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. Duke will also get one free exam with one of our participating veterinarians within 30 days of his adoption. If you`d like to meet him please visit, we`re conveniently located in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn near the F train (Ft Hamilton Pkwy) and the B16 bus. We`re open daily for adoptions from 11am to 5:30pm.Duke can`t wait to meet you!Sean Casey Animal Rescue153 E. 3 St.between Ft Hamilton Pkwy & Caton AveBrooklyn, NY 11218adoptions@nyanimalrescue.orgNYS Department of Agriculture and Markets Registration No. RR160
