Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ZAANA was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. She along with her 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 ZAANA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 18 November 2021 and at the time of transport weighed around 30 pounds. The group believe that Zaana could be a Japanese Spitz mix, but we have no way of knowing for sure. ZAANA is the girl for you if you are looking for a gentle, sweet, super affectionate girl. She has settled in well after her long, scary trip from Oman and enjoys when I am in the kennels giving her lots of love and fuss. She will put her paw on my arm or shoulder so that I can scratch the spots she likes and I think it is also her way of wanting to connect. She is a beautiful girl who does have a medium length coat, so grooming is a consideration to be taken into account as if coats are not brushed, they can matt very easily which is not healthy and painful for the dogs. She is an active girl and will need a family that will take her on lots of adventures and give her the lifestyle that she needs and deserves to thrive. ZAANA can be dog selective and so she would be best in a home with no other dogs, so as to not cause any un-needed stress or concerns. Then over time she can get to meet other dogs and see who she likes to have as her friends so she can play and chase and have some doggy-fun. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue   YouTube channel    and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Zaana is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $400. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. Story
Meet Charlotte, a 2-year-old Border Collie/ German Shepherd mix who is originally from Jordan. Charlotte was rescued off of the streets of Jordan and spent time being cared for by her rescuers. She is a loving dog who knows her commands. She loves taking walks and is great on a leash, but can bark at dogs that are passing by. We are currently addressing through training sessions that we hope to continue with her adoptive family. She loves cuddling on your lap and playing outside. She is good with adults, but needs a patient approach with some men. She can get the zoomies so adults need to keep her calm and controlled around young children. She should be the only dog in a home. Due to her sensitive nature, she may get nervous and guarded in new environments, but once she warms up she is a dream! Charlotte needs a home with an active lifestyle. If you are a jogger or runner, Charlotte would love to accompany you on your journeys. She would also thrive in activities like agility training. Charlotte needs a loving and patient home with someone with a calm demeanor to help her acclimate to her new environment. Will you give her a chance?

Make A Difference in your Community - Adopt a Shelter Dog! Would you like to foster a Shelter Survivor? For more information, visit us at www.sheltersurvivors.com ***Ali is not available for adoption at this time. She is having hip surgery and needs time to recover with her foster family. Please read the entire description about Ali.*** ***If you are not in the position to adopt a dog, but you'd like to donate towards Ali's surgery, please go to our website to donate or you can Venmo us @Sheltersurvivors-8 Thank you for your continued support! Meet sweet Ali! Ali is a year old, beautiful Border Collie that was surrendered to us when her owner could no longer care for her. Ali's owner bought her when she was 8 weeks old. She injured herself and suddenly it seemed as though her owner had no time for her. We are not exactly sure how Ali injured herself, but her owner declined care at his vet's office. We were told by the owner that she was healed and running around as usual without any issues. The owner tried rehoming Ali himself, but he had no luck. He started calling around to see what his options may be and looked into possible euthanasia for Ali. One of our foster volunteers was contacted by one of our vet partners and we immediately took action to get Ali into our care. Upon meeting Ali, we noticed that she was not able to put weight on one of her legs. While we knew this injury could end up needing a costly surgery, we could not turn our backs on this sweet girl. Ali was shy when we first met her. She would crouch close to the ground and slither into your arms to give kisses. Our hearts melted. Once in her foster home, she immediately became comfortable and attached herself to her foster mom and dad. Ali seemed to know that she was now safe and loved. She was taken to the vet the next day and we found out that she needs hip surgery. Her surgery is scheduled and she will soon have a pain free hip. She will then go through an eight to twelve week recovery period with her foster family. Once cleared, she will be able to run and play just as a year old puppy should be able to. Ali is a sweet girl with so much love to give. She gets along well with other dogs. She loves people! She is extremely friendly. Keep in mind that she is a "working" dog and will need a home that is familiar with the breed and their needs. She may develop "herding" tendencies. ***She will not be available for adoption until she is cleared by the vet and fully recovered.*** We expect to receive a high volume of applications for Ali, so if you are interested in Ali, please fill out the application in its entirety to be considered. Ali is spayed, up to date with her vaccines, microchipped and housebroken. To adopt Ali, please complete our online dog application by going to sheltersurvivors.com Click on the home page, look for "Application" at the top of the home page, and complete the application. Hit the submit button once you have completed the application in its entirety. This will expedite the adoption process. Adoption Fee: $400.00

Story
Meet Knox! Knox is a deaf, 1-year-old, 55 lb, male Border Collie/Lab/Boxer mix who loves playing fetch and tug-of-war! His superpowers include being an adorable and playful pup, loving all people and kids, and getting along great with other dogs. He loves going to the dog park, hiking with his humans, running at the beach, or taking a swim in the pool. He is high-energy and loves to be the center of attention. He is a smarty-pants, who doesn't let being deaf stop him. He picked up many hand signals very quickly and loves to show off for treats. Knox is housebroken and crate-trained, but because he is deaf, he does have some separation anxiety when he is left alone. Knox takes medicine when going in the crate and only as needed, but it works like a charm. If you're looking for a buddy who enjoys outdoor activities, or someone to keep your kids busy, Knox might be your perfect match. Knox is currently being fostered in Jackson, NJ. His adoption fee is $425. To adopt this pet, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. Story
Meet Buffalo! Buffalo is a three month old, approximately 15 pound, sweet-as-can-be Border Collie mix puppy looking for his forever family! Buffalo is a very smart, energetic boy who is taking well to training and is quickly learning commands. As a Border Collie mix, he would benefit from a family that is familiar with the breed. Buffalo would thrive in a home that can focus his energy and provides mental stimulation along with the sweet love that every pup deserves. Buffalo is 90% housetrained, and knows basic Sit/Stay/Come commands. He loves the outdoors, and would love a home with a friendly canine companion! Though he's currently being crate trained, Buffalo adores puppy-snuggles at the end of his busy day. Are you the forever home for this silly, lovable guy? Buffalo is currently being fostered in Long Valley, NJ. His adoption fee is $500. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. CHIP was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024. CHIP is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. He has an estimated date of birth of 26 March 2023 and in April 2024 weighed 28 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. CHIP is adorable, smart, high energy, loving, affectionate, fun, goofy and did I mention high energy? He shares a kennel with two dogs that came from Oman and has been great in helping them adapt and has been teaching them how to play, wrestle and enjoy toys - something they had not experienced before. Chip is true to his breed in that he can be a little mouthy and he does like to let you know how he is feeling when you are not paying him the attention he deserves and thinks he needs lol. Chip needs an active family and one that understands the breed and that they are a herding breed, they can get nippy if they are not taught to not do that. He is super smart, a lot of fun and will learn quick and will be the best companion to the right family.
