Story
Hi, I’m Petey. I’m a 10‑year‑old Boston boy weighing 35 pounds, with a big heart and an even bigger love for being close to my person. I’m what they call a certified love bug—I follow my foster around the house because being near my human makes me feel safe and happy. Snuggles are my specialty. I’m a quiet guy and never bark. I don’t play much with the other dogs, but I’m starting to get curious about toys… I’m still figuring out what all the fuss is about. I’m a perfect gentleman, still learning the ropes, and I try my very best every day. I’m trained on the potty pad, and I’m great on a leash. I enjoy going on walks and I’m amazing on them—steady, calm, and happy to trot right beside you. I’m good with kids, cats, and dogs, and I’d be a wonderful companion for a senior or anyone who wants a gentle, low‑energy buddy. I love peanut butter and bacon‑flavored treats, cozy naps, and being close enough to feel your warmth. What I’d really love is a home where life is a mix of chill and a little bit of adventure… and where someone wants snuggles all day long. If you’re looking for a sweet, quiet, loyal friend who will adore you with his whole heart, I’m your guy. My adoption fee is $100, but if you are a senior yourself (65+) my adoption fee is waived.   We are always looking for good foster homes. Story
Hi, I’m Frankie — yes, that Frankie, named after Frank Sinatra himself. I’ve got the blue eyes, the good looks, and the quiet confidence to back it up. I’m 7 years old, 17 pounds, and honestly? A total knockout. If there were a “Most Handsome Boston Terrier” award, I’d already have it on my shelf. I’m hearing‑disabled, which means I live in my own peaceful little bubble. I’m usually a very quiet gentleman… unless I need to go outside. Then I warm up the vocal cords and give you a tiny serenade. Think of it as my “Let Me Out” single, soon to top the charts. I adore being near my humans. I’ll follow you around like your classy little shadow, supervising your activities with my movie‑star gaze. Cuddling? Eh. I’m not opposed, but I’m not exactly a snuggle bug. Maybe I just haven’t met the right cuddle coach yet. Toys? Listen… I’m trying. I look at them, sniff them, maybe poke them once, and then I’m like, “Hmm. Mysterious.” But I’m open to learning if you’re open to teaching. I’m crate trained, leash trained, and I get along great with dogs and people. I’m a low‑energy guy who’s perfectly happy in an apartment, I don’t need a big yard, just a comfy spot to lounge and admire you. Because of my hearing impairment, I’d do best with older, gentle kids who understand my quiet world. So… do you have a cozy corner for a gorgeous blue‑eyed crooner to hang out, look adorable, and occasionally sing you a little tune? Because I think we’d make a pretty great duet. My adoption fee is $300. FRANKIE IS HEARING IMPAIRED. We are always looking for good foster homes. Hi, I’m Oreo — a 4½â€‘year‑old, 17-pound Boston girl with a big heart and an even bigger love for being close to my humans. If you’re on the couch, I’m right beside you. If you’re in bed, I’m curled up next to you. I’m happiest when I’m near my people. I’m super sweet and I play wonderfully with the other foster doggy in my home. I love toys, especially balls, and I’ll happily entertain myself or join in for a good game. I also love food… a lot. I’ll even get a little vocal to let you know when I’m hungry. What can I say? A girl knows what she wants. Being food‑motivated makes training easy, and I’m already house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. I’m great with other dogs, kids, and even seniors. I’m currently on allergy meds, but I may not need them all the time. I enjoy playing, but I’m also a champion snuggler who knows how to relax. Walks are one of my favorite things, I get so excited when the harness comes out, and I ride well in the car too. I’d love a family who will play with me, take me on walks, and maybe give me a doggy friend to hang out with. I’m a loving, loyal girl who just wants to be part of someone’s life, whether we’re playing, snuggling, or going on adventures together. My adoption fee is $400. Story
Hello there. My name is Murphy, and I am a 16-year-old lil boy who weighs 22 pounds. I am so lucky this wonderful rescue came and saved me; I did not grow up in a very nice environment. I am a particular little guy; I like to do things on my own terms. I do not like to be forced to do things which makes me upset and nip. I also do not like to share toys or food. I want to be the leader, so I need to be the only dog in the house. I am still learning how to be a dog and still working on my house training and my manners. I do have some hearing loss and need kidney care food because of my age. I absolutely love to be outside and play with stuffies. My ideal home would a person who can teach me manners and who is willing to help me be a better guy. My adoption fee is $100, but if you are a senior yourself (65+), my adoption fee is waived. Must be an only dog. No children. Thank you for your continued support in our rescue efforts! NOTE:  Hospice fosters have ongoing medical needs that will require care for the rest of their lives. While they remain available for adoption, we carefully screen potential homes to ensure their medical and special needs can be fully supported. BTRNT is committed to providing these dogs with a loving forever home—whether that is through adoption or as a permanent hospice foster within our rescue. We are always looking for good foster homes. These homes allow us to rescue more Boston Terriers in need because we have a place for them to go until they are adopted. Story
Hi, I’m Darcy — a 7‑year‑old, 21‑pound Boston Terrier with a soft heart, a big cuddle habit, and a story that’s still unfolding. I didn’t have the easiest start in life, but I’m learning every day what it feels like to be safe, loved, and understood. I’m a super sweet girl who absolutely adores water — the pool is my happy place. I’m also a world‑class snuggler who will melt right into you the moment I feel comfortable. I’m trained with the doggy door, I’m crate trained, and I’m great with kids — especially older, considerate ones who understand that I’m still building my confidence. When it comes to other dogs, I’m a bit selective. I do best with calm, submissive pups who won’t overwhelm me. I’m not good with cats, though — they’re just a little too tempting for me. I’m still working on my training, but I’m trying so hard. I just need a family with patience, kindness, and a willingness to help me keep learning. If you give me time, I’ll give you my whole heart. If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddly companion who’s ready for a fresh start and a lifetime of love, I think we could be perfect together. My adoption fee is $300  AVAILABLE EARLY MAY. Story
Hi, I’m Gatsby, a friendly and loving 12-year-old gentleman, around 45 lbs. I’m great with dogs and love to be around people. I’m always up for belly rubs, and if you stop petting me, I’ll paw at your hand to let you know I want more! Even at my age, I still get around great—jumping up on the couch without any issues, and I’m very active and spry for 10. I’m house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. I enjoy spending time with my people and following the pack when they go outside. I do have some allergies, but they’re under control now. While I don’t love car rides, I do enjoy short walks, though I’m more of a relaxed guy most of the time. My ideal home would be one where I’m not left alone too much. A yard and a doggie door would be great, but more than anything, I want to be close to you! I’m the perfect couch potato companion. My adoption fee is $100, but if you are a senior yourself (65+) my adoption fee is waived.    We are always looking for good foster homes. Story
Meet Pugsley Hey There, I'm Pugsley. I'm just a guy looking for that special love connection.  Are you my perfect match? At 4 years old, I am a fawn-colored, 24-pound French Bulldog/Chihuahua mix. My foster says I am an excellent companion dog. I am crate-trained and housetrained. I walk well on a leash, but I forget my manners if I see another dog on the walk and lunge when I see one. When I arrived at the rescue, I had some injuries possibly caused by rough encounters with other dogs or wildlife. Because of this, I can sometimes be aggressive when I see other dogs. Although I have had some tough times, I can be a great companion dog. My foster says, "He is always by my side when I'm home. He sleeps on the bed with me without trouble at all." I'm ready to live my best life. It would be best if there were no children under 10 in the home, and I would be best as an only dog. Walking with me can be challenging if we encounter another dog, so a house with a backyard is ideal. I would not be a good fit for a first-time dog owner. Still, I could thrive with an experienced handler who can help me develop my behavior, manners, and reactions with other dogs as I learn to feel safe and secure. When you get to know me, and I warm up to you, I can be a wonderful dog. I would love to show you that. If you are that special person, willing to give me a chance at my forever home, I can return that with loyalty and love. Let's meet and see if we can make the best team and live our best lives together. Learn more about our adoption process below and fill out an adoption application to take the first step in giving Pugsley the home he deserves! Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. APPLY HERE: www.richardsonhumanesociety.org ##1553556##

Story
Meet Jay – Your Happy Little Shadow Jay is the kind of dog who brings joy wherever he goes. Happy, playful, and full of personality, he's always up for a game with his favorite toys, a few backyard zoomies, or simply following his people from room to room. If you're looking for a loyal shadow, Jay has that job covered. He takes his self-appointed job as neighborhood watch very seriously, making sure every squirrel, bunny, bird, and suspicious leaf stays in line! Jay is fully house trained, kennel trained, and loves being part of whatever you're doing. At the end of the day, he's just as happy curling up nearby—snoring included.  Jay would thrive in a home with another playful dog and older, dog-savvy kids who can appreciate his fun-loving energy. As for cats...they're just a little too fascinating for him, so he'd prefer a feline-free home. After months of waiting, Jay is more than ready to find a family to call his own. If you're looking for a dog who will make you laugh, keep you company, and love you with his whole heart, Jay is ready to meet you. ##2353867##
