Meet Pugsley Hey There, I'm Pugsley. I'm just a guy looking for that special love connection.  Are you my perfect match? At 4 years old, I am a fawn-colored, 24-pound French Bulldog/Chihuahua mix. My foster says I am an excellent companion dog. I am crate-trained and housetrained. I walk well on a leash, but I forget my manners if I see another dog on the walk and lunge when I see one. When I arrived at the rescue, I had some injuries possibly caused by rough encounters with other dogs or wildlife. Because of this, I can sometimes be aggressive when I see other dogs. Although I have had some tough times, I can be a great companion dog. My foster says, "He is always by my side when I'm home. He sleeps on the bed with me without trouble at all." I'm ready to live my best life. It would be best if there were no children under 10 in the home, and I would be best as an only dog. Walking with me can be challenging if we encounter another dog, so a house with a backyard is ideal. I would not be a good fit for a first-time dog owner. Still, I could thrive with an experienced handler who can help me develop my behavior, manners, and reactions with other dogs as I learn to feel safe and secure. When you get to know me, and I warm up to you, I can be a wonderful dog. I would love to show you that. Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. I’m Frick — a 4‑year‑old Frenchie/English Bulldog mix weighing in at a perfect 43 pounds of soft, snuggly goodness. I’m a calm, quiet little gentleman who barely makes a peep… unless I’m asleep, in which case I snore like a tiny, cozy bulldozer dreaming its best dreams. My favorite thing in the world is being close to my humans. I follow you everywhere, lean in for hugs, melt under ear rubs, and absolutely adore top‑of‑the‑head kisses. If you sit down, I will gently drape myself over you like a warm, living weighted blanket. It’s my calling. Toys? I’m intrigued, but also confused. I stare at them like they’re trying to tell me a secret. Food, however, now that I understand. I’m very food motivated and have perfected the art of the “sweetest boy” eyes to earn an extra nibble. I’m still working on my training including house training but making progress.  I’m leash trained and very gentle. I get along well with other dogs, though bigger dogs make me nervous because I was picked on before. I’m happiest with kind, friendly pups or just hanging out with my humans. Car rides aren’t my favorite, but lounging in the yard? That’s my happy place. I love feeling the breeze, sniffing the world, and just being a peaceful little potato. I’m the sweetest boy-soft‑hearted, snuggly, quiet, and loyal. If you’re looking for a gentle companion who wants nothing more than to love you, follow you, and nap near you, I’m your guy. Hi, I’m Belle, a 5½â€‘year‑old, 23‑pound Frenchie girl with a whole lot of love to give. I’ve had a rough go in my past, but this amazing rescue scooped me up and showed me what safety feels like. Now I’m ready to find my very own person to adore. I’ll be honest: I’m a jealous little lady. I love my humans so much that I don’t want to share them with other dogs. I need to be your one and only, your spoiled princess, your constant cuddle buddy. If you’ve been dreaming of a loyal shadow, I’m your girl. I have very limited vision, but don’t you worry, I’m a total pro at using your footsteps and your voice to guide me. I mapped out my foster home in no time and hardly ever bump into anything. Because of my sight, I can’t do stairs or pools, but I get around beautifully on flat ground. I’m house trained, crate trained, leash trained, and I’m a perfect little lady on walks and car rides. I’m a low‑energy sweetheart who loves nothing more than curling up next to you on the couch. I don’t play with toys much, but give me a good chew bone and I’m in heaven. 💔 He was brought to the vet to be euthanized… simply because his owner was moving. Let that sink in for a moment. How do you look into the eyes of a sweet, trusting dog and decide that his life is no longer worth saving because your circumstances have changed? How does a dog who has spent his life loving his person suddenly become disposable? Thankfully, Mugsy Maplebottom’s story didn’t end in that veterinary clinic. ❤️ Please welcome this precious 4-year-old, barely 20-pound little boy to Texas Cleft Pup Rescue. Mugsy has a cleft palate, and it appears he may have spent much of his life outside and without the care he deserved. We don’t know everything he has been through yet—but we know he deserves so much better. And Mugsy? He is sweet. He is gentle. He has already met his foster family’s Frenchie girls and is settling in like the good boy he is. 🥹 His first experience with air conditioning was absolutely priceless… “This is niiiiiice!” 🥰 Now our job begins. We need to get Mugsy to the veterinarian for a complete evaluation, get some much-needed nutrition into his little body. Date of Birth 3/2/2022 Adoption Fee: $900.00

Meet Mike Wazowski, AKA Mikey! He is a French bulldog who is just under 4 months old. He has the cutest puppy personality, he is brave, playful, funny, cuddly, smart, stubborn like typical bully, loves everyone and is super friendly! IMPORTANT: We are looking for an experienced dog owner who has experience with this breed or similar smooshy-faced breeds. You must be able to pass a vet reference on current or previous pets showing they were spayed/neutered, kept up with vaccinations and heartworm prevention, and followed the medical advice of the veterinarian. Good stuff: he is very comfortable with other pets (dogs and cats), can listen to cues from other animals if they are warning him (mostly), enjoys other animals as much as people, likes rough play like tug of war, loves toys but not destructive to them (yet), hesitates to leap off things, so he's smart enough to know that's a bad idea, does really well in his play yard area/kennel and settles in without issue The warnings: he can't handle the heat and he is not potty trained yet. With this major heat, it’s not always safe for him to go outside because of his breed, so potty training hasn’t been consistent but, because he is super great motivated he has learned to use potty pads. Now that we are finally starting to cool off more, he is getting better about going outside more! He has a lot of trouble breathing in any heat, after playing, and SNORES. His adopter needs to be ready for that to be a future concern, just like all the short-nosed breeds tend to have. Mikey has been neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. He also had a birth defect causing one eye not to develop properly. During his neuter appointment that eye was surgically removed. He has recovered beautifully from this and is loving life more than ever now!
