Story
I was surrendered to the shelter when my owner could no longer keep me. I am a sweetie pie and I have done well with some other dogs in monitored play groups. It is unknown how I might behave around cats. I`ll need slow, monitored introductions to new people or pets in a home. Visit this page for more information about properly introducing pets.Consider adopting me today! Foster notes on Ivy:`Ivy is such a sweetie! We did a three mile hike at Occoneechee Mountain and she did great. She pulls on the leash a bit, but no lunging. I had no trouble keeping her under control. During our car rides, she sat still and enjoyed having the window open a bit. Once she got to know me, she was affectionate and like to give kisses. She loved the dog bed at my house and nuzzled into the corners and rolled around. She also liked getting belly rubs and cuddled with me while I read a book. Favorite thing: Her sweet nature. She listens and obeys and is affectionate.``Ivy is such a sweet dog! She is also very calm and gentle. We took her for a 4 mile hike at Carolina North Forest and found that she is an excellent hiker. She likes to go at an easy trot, which is a fast walk for my husband and me, which is what we like. She didn`t jump on us or bark at all. She also easily passed other people and dogs, although it was clear that she wanted to meet the other dogs. Ivy is also excellent in the car and sat calmly in the back seat on the way to the hike. On the way back to the shelter she lay down and put her head in my lap, hinting that she may be a good snuggler too. She is such a sweet girl it is hard to imagine a home where she would not fit in.``Ivy is a sweet and wiggly lady who loves playing fetch and taking good naps! She is motivated by pets and toys, and will sit very sweetly while she waits. She snores whenever she sleeps and loves to cuddle! She carries around her favorite toys and sploots when she sits!`

Story
Brief Liam is a dapper dude with a head as round and smooth as a honeydew melon and eyes like golden quarters. He is a boxer and Staffordshire terrier mix that has been with us the past year. Liam is looking for another lucky person/family for mutually beneficial, loving companionship. Liam is a cool dog if he had to be summarized in one word. He’s obedient to and deferential to human instruction. He loves to snuggle and cuddle especially on the couch and in bed. He loves a walk/bursts of trotting and also rides in the car. He is E collar trained and is also generally obedient off leash. He's a favorite wherever he goes. Liam is a confident boy when meeting other dogs. He gets along with other non-reactive dogs. He has a high prey drive. Liam has an adaptable nature and willll likely do well in most environments. He could be a solo dog or would do well with another non-reactive dog in the home - especially a female one. Foster to adopt sponsored. Come and meet LIAM!

Story
Queenie has had a tough life, being overbred and likely caged. She is extremely affectionate and her favorite spot is to be a snuggly decorative pillow leaning on you, nuzzling her head into yours - she cannot get enough. She would be a wonderful support/comfort animal with her hands on affection. Queenie gets along with the other fosters in the home, though she does exhibit some intolerance to female dogs in which case she pins them on their backs until they behave. This may be a result of her being a mother. She likes to walk and is crate trained, and E collar trained. She doesn’t mind being alone in my bedroom, which is her preferred space. She is extremely sweet with all humans, approaching them calmly, looking for love, with her little nubby tail going like an allegro metronome. Queenie is available and is sponsored for foster to adoption. Telling me this loving lady. You won't be disappointed.

Story
Taco is a sweet girl that comes with some baggage. She was found on the side of the road and now is a spoiled baby who loves to be tucked into bed at night. She does not get along with other dogs or cats. The perfect home for her would be her as the only pet in the house and given so much love.

Story
Skerpie is a sweet, affectionate cuddle buddy with excellent indoor manners. Already neutered, he stayed in a foster home for five days and proved to be perfectly house-trained—he goes potty immediately when outside on a leash or in a fenced yard. He doesn’t beg at the table or in the kitchen, hasn’t chewed shoes or household items, and sleeps peacefully through the night. Skerpie adapts his energy to match his human’s, happily relaxing indoors while being close and enjoying pets. This knee-high pup has a soft, healthy coat and a gentle, loving personality. He has a bit of lameness in a hind leg from an old injury, but it doesn’t slow him down. Outdoors, he enjoys exploring, chasing sticks, and racing around a fenced yard. Skerpie is still learning basic commands but picks them up quickly, including sit and using a dog door.Skerpie would make a loving, loyal companion for someone looking for a calm, affectionate, and playful dog who enjoys both indoor snuggles and outdoor adventures.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Queen, a charming and sassy sidekick who`s equal parts snuggle bug, road trip companion, and toy-loving goofball. She’s all about her people and would happily follow you from room to room, or better yet, hop in the car for your next adventure. Queen is a professional passenger—calm, happy, and convinced that every ride needs her royal presence. She`s also potty trained, crate aware (though she’ll politely bark when she’s ready to come out), and great on leash with just a little pulling when she`s excited. Queen recently took on a 7-mile hike at Eno River State Park and absolutely crushed it. Suspension bridges? No problem. Crowds of school kids? Handled like a pro. She navigated everything with confidence and grace—earning some laughs and a few “Scooby-Doo” comments along the way. At home, Queen is a toy and treat-motivated gal who loves to chew on bones and play with her stash of goodies throughout the day. She gets along well with the calm senior dog in her foster home and minds her business like the classy lady she is. She`s also great with kids, though she prefers to enjoy her meals and bones without interruptionWhile Queen has some minor mobility quirks—likely due to a hip or leg issue—she doesn’t let it slow her down much. She handles steps with care and is happiest on flat ground where she can stay close to you. In the backyard, she’ll stick right by your side and comes when called. Queen is a sweet, spunky, and loyal dog who’s looking for a home where she can be part of the action, soak up affection, and chew to her heart’s content. If you’re searching for a loving, adventurous companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Queen just might be your match!
