Story
A New Shelter & A New Hope: Meet Lyles.Lyles has spent nearly his entire life behind kennel bars. He entered his first shelter as a tiny puppy and was somehow overlooked for far too long. We brought him to our shelter for one reason: to give him the fresh start he deserves! Lyles is a gorgeous brindle boy who is EXTREMELY dog friendly—seriously, he’s a social superstar with other pups! While he’s a little slow to trust humans at first, he’s a `slow burn` worth waiting for. Once you win him over with head scratches, he’ll be your shadow. He’s already potty trained, obedient, and has perfect leash skills. He just needs a yard to play in and a couch to share. Let’s make sure this is the last shelter he ever sees.

Story
Meet Matilda! Matilda is a sweet, gentle girl with a loving heart and a playful spark. She may take a moment to warm up, but bring out some squeaky toys and treats and you’ll quickly see her personality shine! She enjoys pets, attention, and spending time with her people. In her foster home, Matilda showed just how well she can settle into family life. She’s house-trained, sleeps well through the night, and after getting her energy out, she’s happy to relax as a total couch potato. She’s calm, curious, and enjoys being part of the home—whether that’s lounging nearby or joining you for an outing (she does great in the car, too!). Matilda is still learning some of her manners, like walking nicely on a leash, but she’s eager to learn and would thrive with continued positive guidance. She’s also a smart, playful girl who benefits from having appropriate toys and enrichment to keep her busy—she just likes to stay entertained! She’s curious about both people and other pets and handles new environments well, even around loud noises. With a little structure, love, and consistency, Matilda is going to make an incredibly loyal and well-rounded companion. Could you be the perfect match for Matilda? Story
Hi, my name is Charlie Blue, and, as you can see, I’m very good natured.  What other dog would let you dress them up like a squirrel?  In fact, my friends at the shelter dress me up in all kinds of costumes and I just give them a big kiss when the photo shoots are done.  Frankly, I love the attention. My day is only complete once I’ve curled up in someone’s lap, had lot’s of belly rubs, and an ear scratch or two.  I’m not lazy though, I love to chase tennis balls.  You will need two though as I haven’t mastered the concept of “drop”.   I’m good natured, have tons of personality, and would love to share my life with you.  If you are looking for a fun loving, loving gal then call the shelter and ask for Charlie Blue! Story
Meet Tod – Your New Best Friend Tod is a 3½-year-old, 50-pound sweetheart with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. From the day he arrived at Bayou Animal Services, he has been nothing but kind, patient, and incredibly affectionate with everyone he meets. Tod loves people, does great with other dogs, and is wonderful with kids, making him a fantastic companion for a family or anyone looking for a loyal best friend. He’s also a favorite among our volunteers, who enjoy taking him out for Sniffari walks. Once we found the right collar and worked with our trainer, Tod quickly learned to walk nicely on leash and now enjoys strolling proudly beside his walking buddies. Tod is the kind of dog who just wants to be close to his people. He loves attention, happily leans in for pets, and has the calm, loving personality that makes you feel instantly comfortable around him. Tod is currently heartworm positive, which means he will need treatment to eliminate the worms already present. The good news is that heartworm treatment is very manageable, and Bayou Animal Services has already committed to covering the cost of his treatment through our lifesaving programs, so his adopter or foster will not need to worry about the expense. Tod has so much love to give and is ready to finally experience life in a home where he can relax, feel safe, and be someone’s loyal companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle dog with a big heart and an even bigger capacity for love, Tod might be the perfect addition to your family. Tod is also available for foster while he completes heartworm treatment.
