Story
Meet Matilda! Matilda is a sweet, gentle girl with a loving heart and a playful spark. She may take a moment to warm up, but bring out some squeaky toys and treats and you’ll quickly see her personality shine! She enjoys pets, attention, and spending time with her people. In her foster home, Matilda showed just how well she can settle into family life. She’s house-trained, sleeps well through the night, and after getting her energy out, she’s happy to relax as a total couch potato. She’s calm, curious, and enjoys being part of the home—whether that’s lounging nearby or joining you for an outing (she does great in the car, too!). Matilda is still learning some of her manners, like walking nicely on a leash, but she’s eager to learn and would thrive with continued positive guidance. She’s also a smart, playful girl who benefits from having appropriate toys and enrichment to keep her busy—she just likes to stay entertained! She’s curious about both people and other pets and handles new environments well, even around loud noises. With a little structure, love, and consistency, Matilda is going to make an incredibly loyal and well-rounded companion. Could you be the perfect match for Matilda? Story
A New Shelter & A New Hope: Meet Lyles.Lyles has spent nearly his entire life behind kennel bars. He entered his first shelter as a tiny puppy and was somehow overlooked for far too long. We brought him to our shelter for one reason: to give him the fresh start he deserves! Lyles is a gorgeous brindle boy who is EXTREMELY dog friendly—seriously, he’s a social superstar with other pups! While he’s a little slow to trust humans at first, he’s a `slow burn` worth waiting for. Once you win him over with head scratches, he’ll be your shadow. He’s already potty trained, obedient, and has perfect leash skills. He just needs a yard to play in and a couch to share. Let’s make sure this is the last shelter he ever sees.

Story
Hello! I'm Tucker! I am a big, sweet boy and around a year old. My breed is a little bit of a mystery but maybe I have some Bull Terrier or Hound in me. No matter what my breed is I definitely have some cool colors to my fur! I was found wandering the cold streets but now I'm safe and sound in a loving foster home. I am potty trained, crate trained, and currently working on my manners with my foster dad, I know "Sit"! I am young and large so a home without little kids might be best so that I don't accidentally knock them over. I get along great with other dogs! I am looking for my furever home...maybe you have a spot for me? If you are interested in me, please send an email to us! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! All dogs typically show on Saturdays at the Petco in Clear Lake as well. 2410 Bay Area Blvd near Space Center.   Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $210 (or $270 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas.March 7, 2026, 7:09 pm

Story
Meet Bruce, a loving and affectionate boy who is sure to capture your heart. With a loyal and gentle nature, Bruce is always up for showing his love and receiving it in return. He is a constant tail wagger when interacting with people and is always eager to please. Bruce is the perfect companion for those looking for a devoted friend to share their adventures and will be by your side through thick and thin. Bruce gets along well with his 2 dog “brothers” at his foster home, romping around in the back yard with them. He avoids the cat and has shown no aggression other than to bark, which he rarely does. If you're looking for a faithful and loving companion, Bruce is the perfect match for you. Come and meet this wonderful boy today and give him the chance to show you the true meaning of unconditional love. If you are interested in him, please send an email to SCP!
