Story
Rin came to GGOH from a private rescuer in Minnesota when she reached out for a little help. Rin was a stray so we have no previous history on her. DOB is approximately 1/1/2019. Rin has a quieter, shy personality; with the right home, she will be a great companion. She loves to play and snuggle with other cats, is active and healthy. She has a beautiful dilute calico coat that she keeps neat and clean. While Rin is very cat friendly, she is still quite reserved around humans - when meeting her, she generally will let you near her, but will move away if you attempt to pet her. She's worth the effort to get to know and has great potential, but it will take time for her to trust someone new. If you have the willingness to try and let her adjust at her own pace, she might be a great fit for you. We have not directly introduced Rin to dogs, but she has been in the room as they've walked by and she paid no attention to them whatsoever. Our guess is that in a home environment, she will likely act the same and over time, perhaps even become best buds with them. As Rin is still quite people reserved, we recommend older children only for her as youngsters often do not understand a cat's signals and Rin would not be too happy with a child rushing at her. To meet Rin, please visit our webpage to review our adoption process and requirements and to schedule an on-site appointment. https://www.ggohinc.com/adoption-process-cats

Story
Caribou is a beautiful calico/tabby mix who was picked up off the side of a freeway with her two kittens. The finder took Caribou to MNSnap as a TNR cat but after seeing how good she was with her kittens and the potential she had to becoming a house cat/pet, the finder reached out to us to take her rather than return her to where she was found. She has been very shy and a bit nervous since she joined us but we know she has great potential if someone would just give her the time and space she needs to feel comfortable and safe. We know that she is not the type of cat that everyone is looking for as many want instant gratification cats but we whole-heartedly believe that her person is out there somewhere and without us posting her story, that person may never be found. If you have an open heart and a desire to make a difference in a cat's life, maybe Caribou is the one for you - it's worth a visit to at least meet her, right? Caribou's DOB is approx. 6/1/18. Her ear tip that you see in her profile pics is the result of her spay at MNSnap. Presently, we are recommending older children only as a match for Caribou as little ones would not know how to read her signs. Dogs are an unknown. And, as you can see in one of her pics, she does fabulously with other cats. If you'd like to meet Caribou, please visit our website to schedule a visitation. www.ggohinc.com.

Story
If you'd like to meet Lauren, please jump to our website (https://www.ggohinc.com/adoption-process-cats) to review our adoption process & requirements and to schedule an on-site visit. Lauren was part of our 40th Avenue farm project where we helped a local farmer with an over-population issue. Lauren is a bit on the shy side but allows petting and will stay in place if you approach her slowly so she knows you mean her no harm. She needs a home with another cat to make her feel safe while she learns to trust you. She gets along with other cats well, so you need not be too concerned about her adapting to your home and current pets. However, if you have no other cats, Lauren has many friends here at the rescue who would love to be adopted with her. Lauren is shy, but she is so worth the effort to get to know her. She is not a lap cat (if you're looking for that type of connection, let us know and we can introduce you to others that are). Her transition will take time but if you are okay with that, then perhaps you are just what this shy girl needs. If you see what we see, we'd love to make your acquaintance and so would Lauren. Please consider her. Lauren has an approx. DOB of 3/1/2019.

Story
Patches joined us here at GGOH after we helped a local farmer with an overpopulation problem; she came to us pregnant. Since intake, Patches has been slowly adjusting to the idea that indoor living is the way to go and that humans are not scary and just want to show her how good life can be. She's getting there. Patches will need an adopter or family that is willing to give her time and patience - to adjust and to trust. She's really a very sweet girl and she deserves the chance at a home of her own with her own people to love on her. She will approach for treats (i.e. - she is food motivated) and will stay near but picking up is not on her current list of likes. She really just needs someone to help her understand what a good live is all about. Do you have it within you to be Patches' human companion? Why not meet her and find out. Patches' DOB is approx. 8/17/2019. If you'd like to meet Patches, please go to our webpage to review our adoption process and requirements and to schedule an on-site visit. www.ggohinc.com

Story
If you'd like to meet Glamour, please go to our website and review our adoption policies and procedures and to schedule an on-site visit. www.ggohinc.com Glamour is one of our more shy cats here at GGOH. She is very sweet and just needs someone who has time, patience, and love to give. She is not a cat that is going to meet you at the door when you come for a visit, but she will be in the background watching you, waiting to see if you might notice her. She allows a slow hand and a gentle touch. We know that this beautiful girl has lots of warmth and love to give if someone would just take a chance on her and give her consistent attention and love. We do our best here at the rescue to give all of our pets tons of love, but it will never compare to the love that an owner can give. Please consider this sweetheart - we know she's not for everyone, but maybe, just maybe, she's for you. Glamour's approx. DOB is 10/1/2020.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My foster dad calls me Sweetheart due to my calico patterns; from a certain view they look like heart shapes. I was born in the wild during springtime 2023 to my feral calico mom. I spent my first year living in the woods near my foster dad's house. Lucky for me he put food out every day so I never really went hungry. When the weather started getting cold he provided a heated shelter for my mom and me and we spent many nights cuddled together inside where we stayed warm and dry.    Then I had kittens!  They were born the first week of April 2024 and our foster dad found them and then trapped me. I did not like being trapped or put in a cage or being in a trailer at first, but since my foster dad has been sheltering, feeding and playing with us since late April 2024, I have found being in a human's care is not that bad. I will let him pet me and brush me and I will even let him know I like it by purring for him. I will sometimes even stand in his lap for pets and purr. I especially like feeding time and treat time as I will gladly get in his lap for treats. I also like that he plays with my babies so I can take undisturbed naps. He named my babies Cleo, Penni, Wiley and Sylvester.   I am a clean kitty even though I have a lot of white fur. I like having a clean litter box and will use it well; it beats going out in the woods!   I think I would prefer a quieter house. I've met other people and even children and do ok but I will still put some distance between myself and them at least until I know them. I liked having my mom and a big gray cat for company, when I lived outside, so I may like being with another cat. I am afraid of dogs, though.   Sweetheart is from a stray surrender with her 4 kittens. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 26, 2024, 5:57 pm
