Story
Smoky is a 1 year old smoky, grey, white, and cream colored American Short-haired Tabby! We found him with a litter of his siblings when he was 6 weeks old, underneath a porch of an abandoned house on the North side of St. Louis while visiting a friend's house next door! We instantly feel in love with him when we saw him! We took him home to our children to begin to care for him! Now Smoky is a house cat, that doesn't go outside due to too many other stray cats near my house from the neighborhood. I don't want him to get attacked by other animals, so we keep him indoors. He is very protective of his owners once he trusts you; but off hand, he is not too friendly to strangers. He hisses and growls at people he's not familiar with. He hates baths, and getting his nails trimmed. But overall, Smoky needs a strong, loving, understanding family that can handle his aggressive, but soft nature! Once he gets to know and trust you, he will shower you with love and affection 🐱🩶🤍

Story
Exactly like how all orange cats share a single brain cell, Toucan Sam shares his brain cell with Kenny from South Park…and the rest of the time, when the neurons aren’t firing off the single Kenny cell, there’s just Froot Loops shaking around up there… In world where cats have nine lives, this guy is burning through his like a chain smoking trucker stranded in Vegas. Toucan came to CARE after being picked up by AC dragging his hind legs, having been seriously injured by a fall or having been hit by a vehicle or some other trauma. He had a broken pelvis and later it was discovered he also had a herniated diaphragm which caused a lot of internal injuries. Toucan had a very risky surgery to repair the hernia and put his Humpty Dumpty insides back together again. He came through surgery like the baddie he is, woke up and hissed and growled at the vet techs and then carried on through recovery like nothing happened. ***Shout out to Dr. Bailey and the amazing veterinary team at CARE STL for all the amazing care they provided Toucan (and the other CARE STL patients!)*** Toucan Sam is currently completely medically sound, healthy, and fit for adoption. I share Toucan’s story because it’s important for anyone interested in adopting this guy to know what they are getting into. He’s a chaos goblin. A daredevil. A madcap. YOLO? Not so much with Toucan. Now that he’s off activity restriction, he’s back to terrorizing the masses, in this case his foster household, specifically his foster dog brother. Toucan is a bully and while he can absolutely live with dogs and other cats, he will need a home with patient, gentle, long-suffering companions who will tolerate his bullying and shenanigans. Toucan is also a door dasher. Not the kind that brings you Shake Shack. The kind that tries to bolt out of every open door, despite being what the French call “Les incompetents.” Does this fool believe he can survive outdoors? Yes. Can this fool actually survive outdoors? Absolutely not. It’s already been proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Oh, and if you do order Door Dash be prepared for Toucan to steal it off your plate! Toucan Sam is such a sweet and affectionate baby boy but this guy needs a babysitter, a handler - for real. He needs someone to save him from himself. If you think you’re up for the challenge, apply to adopt Toucan Sam! You’ll be compensated for your efforts with the softest fur you’ve ever touched and 7-8 lifetimes of laughter and love and chaos!
