Hi, my name is Sylvia. When I first arrived at the shelter, I spent a lot of time tucked safely under my blanket. I wasn't quite ready to introduce myself yet—I needed some time to watch, listen and figure out this new place. And I took my time. With patience, encouragement and lots of love from the humans who care for me, I slowly started coming out from under that blanket. A couple of months later, look at me now: I've graduated to "free-roam status." This means my condo door stays open and I can roam the cat room as I please. I guess you could say I finally decided it was time to make my debut. Turns out, life outside the blanket is pretty good. I'm a super-chill girl who gets along well with my shelter siblings, and I've discovered that playing is actually a lot more fun than hiding. Don't worry, though—I still have a soft spot for my favorite blanket. Now I'm ready for my next big step: a home of my own. I'm looking for someone who will give me the same patience and kindness that helped me blossom here—and a cozy blanket wouldn't hurt either. Hi, I’m Trixie. I came to Crestwood Animal Shelter with my kitten, Scooter. My job as Mom is officially finished—Scooter has been adopted—and now it’s my turn to find a home of my own. I’ll admit, I wasn’t exactly thrilled about shelter life when I first arrived. New place. New people. Lots of changes. I needed some time to figure everyone out. And I did. These days, I’ve become much more comfortable with the volunteers, and they’ve gotten to know the cat behind those big green eyes. I’m chill, I’m playful, and I’ve made quite a few friends around here. In fact, the volunteers have become pretty fond of me. My story is also a good reminder that the cat you meet in a shelter may still be adjusting. I needed some time to feel comfortable enough to let more of myself show. Scooter found his family. Hi. When I arrived at the shelter, they named me Lady. My name should be Queen. I am vocal, playful and perfectly capable of entertaining you for hours. I have plenty to say, plenty to do and plenty of personality. There is one thing you should know about me: I prefer to be your one and only cat. Face it, I am a calico. Why would you need another one? The volunteers know the shelter isn't the same as a home. There are other cats nearby, different people coming and going, unfamiliar sounds and a lot happening around me. What they do know is that I enjoy people, I love to play and I would like a home where I don't have to share my kingdom with another cat. And being an only cat has its advantages.
