Story
Rufus, is the name I gave to this sweet stray cat that has been hanging around my property. He is not feral he is friendly to humans. I have been caring for a friendly, independent stray cat. While he gets along well with people, he seems to prefer his independence. Unfortunately, he has had a few altercations with my neutered male cat. This cat is currently unneutered. I have scheduled an appointment to have him neutered, receive a rabies vaccination, distemper shot, and flea treatment, all at my own expense. I am reaching out to inquire if you know of any organizations that assist in placing cats like him in barn or business homes. I am happy to cover any costs and can transport him to wherever he is needed. He is a sweet cat, and I want to ensure he finds a good, safe place to live that is more suited to his independent nature. He might be able to live in a home with an patient cat care giver.

Story
4 year old maleIf you are reading this information, it is because the cat came to us with no background history, and we haven’t had enough time with the cat to know if they like other cats, dogs or kids yet. It does take time for cats to adjust to the shelter. It is best to come in and meet the cat in person to know what you think of their personality while you are here. We do recommend you bring small children in to meet the cats, we tend to find that most cats will choose the children and be the best of friends. We will give you information on how to properly introduce cats together. All our cats use the litterbox but that does not imply that we know what they’ll do in a different environment. Please bring along a crate for your adopted friend. We do have cardboard carriers at the shelter as well for $7.50 plus tax. We also ask that you bring landlord permission, and that declawing is not recommended.

Story
Little miss Ladybug is here and ready to shine! Ladybug doesn`t mind being around other cats as long as they know she can be bossy. She loves to sit and look out the window at the birds flying around the bird feeder. This gal is quite the curious one too! She`s our little escapee and likes to figure out a way to roam the halls of the shelter to see what`s going on! Ladybug is 2.5yrs old. Find us on Facebook to be updated on events and shelter news or visit us at WWW.THEHSKMC.COM. Cats up for adoption at the Hawk Creek Animal Shelter are spayed/neutered, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested negative (unless noted). Initial vaccinations are given (a booster may be needed), also flea prevention and deworming. Please walk in as we do not accept applications online, we do same day adoptions (if approved via staff) and forms are filled out at our shelter. A cat carrier is a must to take a cat home; we have cardboard cat carriers for $7.50 plus tax. Please visit our website for prices and more information about our hours. If you have questions, please click the inquiry button, email (shelter@thehskmc.com) or call us (320-235-7612) and we’ll answer the best we can. Adoption fees are not waived unless noted in this description. Some of our animals are located at PetSmart Willmar. The prices are very minimally different.

Story
After being left at the shelters backdoor in the wee early morning hours this sweet boy deserves his forever and never to be left again! Vitani is a sweetheart of a boy and absolutely stunning to boot! He is very affectionate and likes to rub up on you and ask for attention. He hasn`t reacted to seeing the other cats so he may just be ok with a friend or two in his home!
