Good things do come in small packages! That is the case with Armando (aka Armie), a 7-lb male chihuahua with lots of love to give! He is approximately 8-10 years old. He loves to go on walks and can sure keep up for a little guy! Armando is a cuddle bug and wants nothing more than to dive into your lap and snuggle on the couch. He isn't very interested in toys but if he hears a bag crinkle, his tail will start wagging as he hopes it means he's getting a treat! He loves to take naps next to his foster dog siblings on his dog bed and is very mellow during the day. He is relatively quiet but perks up when he knows it's time for a meal or a walk! A family in northern Alabama moved off and left six or seven little Chihuahua spaniel mixes behind. Their kind neighbor has been feeding them for over a year but they could not afford to get anyone spayed or neutered so of course there are puppies. Two little Chihuahua sisters, one chocolate and one black had puppies the same day with the same little blonde long-haired Chihuahua Spaniel mix dad. Blossom and Reese belong to the chocolate mama and Bubbles belongs to the black mama. They are all very precious. Bubbles is the smallest at about 6 pounds, Blossom is about seven and Reece is about eight lbs. They were born the last of January so they are now 12 weeks old. They have had two sets of shots and worming and will get spayed/neutered next week and will be ready to go to their new homes. The moms are about 15 pounds and the dad is between 15 and 20 pounds so they will remain small. They have been around a gentle four-year-old girl that loved them and they were all very good with her. They are sweet and friendly and outgoing! Handsome Neno is a two time visitor to our rescue. Initially, Neno came to us in 2019 after the family toddlers had frayed his last nerve. When our shelter contacts diverted Neno to us, we welcomed him heartily! Not all dogs enjoy frantic kid affection, so we placed Neno with an active senior and the match seemed made in heaven. When unforeseen health issues required Neno’s adopter to move in with family, the kid issue again came into play. At 9 years old, Neno is ready for his third act in a quiet, calm adult home where he can unwind and be himself. Neno is a medium energy dog, who would prefer a quiet vibe. He could easily thrive in a serene adult home with other mellow dogs. It seems to us that Neno is a comical mix of Dachshund and Chihuahua, a Chiweenie! He has a stout physique, slightly elongated spine and half mast, floppy ears. He is a splendid looking, muscular dog at just 17 pounds. He has a fantastic presence for a small dog. Neno has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. He is in optimal health, and has been neutered. He has received routine vaccinations and health screenings.
