You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Vin Diesel and I'm a senior, male chihuahua.  I just had a dental so my teeth are in pretty okay shape now.  I'm great with other dogs and cats and also respectful kids.  I'm of course hoping to enjoy my retirement ages in a calmer home though.  I walk very well on a leash and love going for car rides.  I'm also potty trained and know my basic commands.  I have great manners and would make an amazing addition to most households.  I'm fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $400 To adopt Vin Diesel, fill out an application at www.kakf.org/formsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 13, 2025, 1:53 pm

Story
Meet Sparkler! Born April 14, 2025 Hey there, hooman! I’m Sparkler! What’s up! I’m Sparkler, your soon-to-be favorite little ball of fur, zoomies, and unconditional love. I was born on April 14, 2025, and I’ve already had quite the adventure. I came all the way from Texas, and now I’m a 7-month-old, 20-pound wiggle-butt bursting with energy and cuddles. I’m not going to get very big, so don’t worry — I’ll always fit perfectly in your lap (and probably your shoulder, too… sorry, not sorry). I’m about 98% potty trained, and I already know how to sit. …We’re working on “lay down,” but honestly, “wiggle, bounce, and do my happy hops” is way more fun. I’m a total foodie, so if you’ve got snacks, I’ve got tricks. I adore humans of all ages — kids especially — and I get along great with other dogs. I haven’t met many cats yet, but I’m keeping an open mind. I’m healthy, up to date on everything I need, and so ready to find my forever family. My favorite things include enrichment pads, stuffed toys, fetch, cuddles, walks, and food. Lots of food. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, slightly chaotic little sidekick who will make you laugh every single day — I’m your girl. Love and slobbery kisses, Sparkler Our standard adoption fee is $375 if paid by cash or check, or $385 if paid by credit card (which includes a $10 processing fee). This fee covers spay/neuter surgery when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, and microchipping. In order to be considered for adoption, we require a fully completed application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with your entire family. Please note that submitting an application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee approval—it simply allows us to begin the review process. If you are interested in adopting or would like additional information, please email us at adopt@safehavendogsIL.org to request an application. Keep in mind that the breed and size listed in each dog's biography are our best educated guesses and are not guaranteed. Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse the adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant for any reason.

Story
Hi, I’m Trident! My fosters say I’m the quietest Chihuahua they’ve ever had! I’m endless entertainment, let me tell you about some of the stuff I love- TOYS and FOOD! Yes, especially squeaky toys, but I love to take them all out of the basket and put them by the front door. I will play for hours throwing them around and chasing them for myself. I also love food, and luckily, WALKS, too! I’ve been working on my waistline with daily walks so hopefully you can help me keep that up. We just step off into the grass for some space and go at our own pace as bikes, strollers, balls and dogs all go racing past me. I use the bed stairs and snuggle at my fosters feet all night long, the only time bark usually is if someone new comes in the room while I’m sleeping. I like my teens and their friends and all the dogs that have been in my foster home. My foster has always done slow intro with them and I feel more secure that way. Ive played with puppies as little as 5-10 pounds and am gentle with the old gal and give her kisses, she won’t play and I accept that. If you have been looking for a big love bug that doesn’t know his size, is still learning about the world, loves his home and his people deeply, check me out! My fosters adore me, you can ask them! PS I give the sweetest kisses. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you.
