You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi there, I'm Popcorn, your friendly, goofy, gentle, curious, brave, mellow, funny, smart, playful, energetic, loyal, and a bit shy canine buddy. My journey to the shelter is quite a hilarious tale. You see, I was on a mission to dig to China from my backyard. I dug and dug until I popped up in the neighbor's yard. They were having a barbeque, and I thought, 'Why not join?' Turns out, they weren't as welcoming as I'd hoped. So, here I am, ready for new adventures with you. I'm a great listener, a superb comedian, and I promise to be the most loyal friend you'll ever have. Adopt me and let's make our own fun stories together! I'm a very outgoing boy and love playing with my kennel mates and friends. I am a little hesitant when I first meet people because I'm not sure if I can trust them. I need a quiet home where I can take my time to build confidence and trust. As you can see, I have a cherry eye. It doesn't bother me and can be surgically fixed.   To adopt this dog, please fillout an application at www.adoggie4you.org.  He was born around 12/01/2018 and weighs 21 pounds.  This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington KY or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $225. We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations. Story
Baby Bat embodies the personality, uniqueness and likeness of the Batman. First, he works alone. No sidekicks or partners. He prefers solitude and his space. Baby Bat has lived with his foster and her dog pack for 5 years, he gets along with them but tolerates them at most. He would do well in a home where he is the only dog, no children, and adults only. Next, Baby Bat is an apex predator. Which means he needs his sleep and food and not to be interrupted or coddled when given either. Baby Bat is not a lap or cuddly dog. Finally, did we mention Baby Bat is a Chihuahua mix? That's a really important detail! Baby Bat is a great and loyal dog seeking a great family to adopt him! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
I have the weirdest name. What is that? "Grandpa Lucky. Sounds like I had a lot of luck in my short life, but I am not quite sure of all that. I just look like a Grandpa because I have lived outside most of the time and it is hard on a fella. I am only about 8 or 9 years old according to the vet I have seen, and am in pretty decent health although a little on the chubby side. First off, I was fished out of a river and taken to the city dog pound. I can't tell you how I got into the river, but foster mom suspects I had a little help with that. Well, it was lucky that I got fished out, but then I went to the city pound where I had 3 days before my time was up...literally. But then I got lucky again because foster mom saw me and just had to have me to foster so I got a ticket out of there. I was a pretty skinny dude when she got me, and it wasn't too long before she discovered that I love to eat. Foster mom also has an 18 year old chihuahua, and sometimes I use her potty pad to potty but I love to go outside too! But with the new floors in the house, she makes be wear a belly band when I am in the living room! How embarrassing. Foster Mom noticed that I was having a little trouble walking on my back legs and that wasn't so good so when we got me checked out, it turns out that I have a little compression of my T4 to T6 vertebrae, whatever that is. Not good. But the vet lady said that nothing needed to be done for that so that was lucky. So, when I get a little tired, I hop like a bunny and the other times when I feel good, I walk like a regular dog. I had some tests done on my blood and I had worms living in my heart of all places. I am told that is not good. But it is lucky for me that foster mommy gave me the medicines to kill those little varmints over time and not all at once. She said it is easier on me if we do it this way. Plus, it is lucky that I got the medicine in a little bit of tasty food that I love. Did I tell you I like to eat? About that, foster mommy tells me I can't gain too much weight, or it will be too hard on my joints and back and that won't be good. Aren't I lucky to have her to take care of me? The one complaint I have with foster mommy is that she doesn't have enough time to let me sleep in her lap during the day. I would like to have a lap in my new forever home and someone who will love me as much as foster mommy does. The heartworms are all dead and gone, and I am done with all the treatments now. So I am free to travel anywhere I want to. Besides having a lap to sleep in during the day, I want to sleep in the bed with you at night. I can't jump off the bed though but being with you all the time is what I want. Then I would really feel lucky! $200 Local adoption fee (in Texas) $400 Out of State adoption fee with $50 temporary fuel surcharge.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rose was saved from the streets of Laredo.  She was being fostered by a good Samaritan who tried to socialize her, but had trouble getting her out of the closet.  She has acclimated really well to our program, loves being outside during the day with the other dogs.  Comes in at night and goes to her kennel to sleep.  She appears to be housebroken. She wants to be people friendly, but she had to warm up to you first.  I suspect she has been traumatized while she was on the streets.  The good sam said the neighbors were chasing her away and throwing rocks at her.  She is starting to realize not all humans are mean.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 12:09 pm

Story
Hi, I'm Skylar, the Cuddlebug! My middle name is "Pet Me". I was a stray in a Southern Illinois rural area when I was picked up and put in doggy jail. Adopt-A-Pet came and took me out and put me in a foster home so I could find a new family who would take proper care of me. My best guess is I'm somewhere between 3 and 5 years old. I weigh 17 pounds and kind of look like a large chihuahua. I'm sure there's some terrier in there too. I am tri-color with some pretty unique markings. Just look at my pictures! I LOVE attention, snuggling up with you & getting a massage: back, butt, tummy or head. It doesn't matter. Just pet me. I can sit or lie down on the couch or recliner next to my foster Mom, while she's on the phone. I won't move for an hour as long as she's massaging somewhere on me. That's the main time I sneak in a few kisses!! My second greatest passion is taking long, sniffing walks around the neighborhood. I'm really good at learning new things. I came to Adopt-A-Pet knowing pretty much nothing, and now I've mastered some of the basic commands. I know Sit, Come, Stay and Heel. Mom has me sit at every street corner saying, "It's a street." I am also learning to Down. A good obedience class with my adoptive family would really help in the long run. I'd be the star student, rather the teacher's pet. When I first came to this house I wasn't neutered and had to mark my territory all over. I didn't know that I was expected to do my business outside. Now I am neutered and my foster mom took me outside constantly to make me learn this. I still have an occasional accident but I've pretty much mastered housebreaking. I'm still a little leery with strangers and it might take me a little while to warm up to you. But once I do, watch out - I'm your friend for life! Again, that obedience class that you're going to take me to will help with this. I'd do best in a quiet house with someone that's home a lot to give me Love and let me reciprocate. Someone who enjoys taking long walks. No little kids, please, as I'm just not used to them and not quite ready to take them on yet. Will you please come and take me home so I can Love you? Skyler's adoption fee of $350 includes: vet exam, DAPP (distemper combo) vaccination, Bordetella vaccination, Rabies vaccination, 4DX heartworm/lyme test, flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventative, routine deworming, microchip and neuter.

Story
Hi there! My name is Panini. I am an adult chihuahua mix looking for my forever home. When I was rescued, I was painfully malnourished, infested with fleas, and absolutely terrified of EVERYTHING. For weeks, I would not venture out of my crate for any reason other than to use a potty pad. I have made a lot of progress in my foster home, but I still have a long way to go and have some requirements for my forever home.My ideal forever home is calm with adults only or older kids who will understand and respect my needs. I’d love a friendly and patient small or medium-sized canine friend in my home to show me the ropes and help me continue to build my play skills. A securely fenced yard is a must because I`m currently afraid of being on a leash. I’m also not ready to be picked up, but with your help, I can get from place to place in a travel crate or a dog stroller. Please understand that I need a person or family who will be loving and patient as I continue to gain confidence. I might not be super snuggly right now or a lap dog, but that doesn’t mean I won’t ever be. Some things you will love about me are my smiley, sweet personality and the excitement I have when you come home. When you start seeing me come out of my shell, you’ll love watching me hop around like a bunny and make cute little sounds. I’m generally lower energy but have my bouncy, playful spurts! I’ve begun to occasionally enjoy relaxing on the couch with the rest of my foster family. I’m mostly potty-trained and know how to use pee pads if you’re gone a while. My foster mom says I have blossomed into such a fun, sweet, and funny girl, and I can’t wait to show my future family what a lovable little stringbean am.If you think we would be a good match, please fill out an application for me, and my foster mom will be in touch so you can learn more about me and we can find a time to meet!Adoption fee is $320Almost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements:Be at least 21 years of age;Have the consent of all adults living in the household;Have approval from the residence owner;Have valid ID with current address;Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home;Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)

Story
“Hi my name is Carmel, and I am sweet and sticky just like candy!! Playful and loving,I always want to be with my people. I love to be on your lap, and I love my toys!! I mean, I can tear into those things like a dog 10 times my size!! I am currently in a foster home without kids, but I did spend some time previously with a family that had a 10 and 13 year old, and I was snuggly and loving with them! I am fairly quiet, but like most dogs I will definitely let you know when someone is at the door and especially if the house is about to be robbed by those crazy humans in uniform, aka delivery people!! I am currently in a foster home as an only dog, but I spent some time in a home with 3 other small dogs. They tolerated me acting like I owned the place. However, not all dogs like my all-about-me manner in their homes. My foster mom is home quite a bit, but when she does leave I have been staying in a closed room while getting used to her place. I can handle a crate if you include something interesting to chew on, but I am working on earning trust to gain full reign of the house! I don`t like to brag, but I walk pretty nicely on a leash. I love to bark at any dog or human that walks by, and my foster mom is working with me on this - she keeps my attention with lots of treats and praise when I am a good girl and ignore the passersby! Speaking of treats - man I just LOVE those things! Any kind - big or small, soft or crunchy. Treats are the key to my heart, and If you approach me the proper way when we first meet and give me lots of them, I will be your bestest girl forever and ever!! So what do you say? Should we meet?!?`Adoption fee is $320Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and`(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***
