One of their fur siblings was already taken to a shelter, but a kind-hearted Good Samaritan stepped in to give these two a safe, temporary home. Unfortunately, she already has three dogs, so this is not a long-term option. These sweet pups are pee pad trained and love walking on leashes. They are a little shy, especially around men, but with patience and love, they will warm up quickly. Location: Marshville, Union County (about 25 miles east of Charlotte) Please note: We do not transport dogs, so adopters must pick them up in Marshville, NC. Both Toby and Precious are up to date on vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered once adopted.  Adopotion Fee $300 for one, $500 for both If you’re ready to give these sweet hearts a loving home, apply here: https://rainbowbridgerescue.org/applications/  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 24, 2025, 9:39 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gizmo – Bonded Pair with Bucky Breed: Chihuahua Age: 11–12 years Location: Middlesex, NC Must Be Adopted With: Bucky (14-year-old deaf Cocker Spaniel) Good With: Cats, dogs Adoption Fee: $350 (for the bonded pair) Meet Gizmo! Gizmo is a loving 11–12-year-old Chihuahua who is part of an inseparable bonded pair with his best friend Bucky, a gentle 14-year-old, deaf Cocker Spaniel who is up to date on shots and altered. These two seniors came to Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue under heartbreaking circumstances. Their 90-year-old mom passed away, and not one of her five adult children stepped up to take them. The family even discussed taking them to a shelter to be euthanized. Thankfully, we stepped in before that could happen. Gizmo and Bucky are incredibly easygoing, low-maintenance dogs who get along well with both cats and other dogs. They are quiet, sweet, and simply want a calm, loving home where they can stay together—they must not be separated. We are seeking a local foster or adopter in or near Middlesex, NC, to give this pair the safe, stable home they deserve. If you can open your heart and home to Gizmo and Bucky, please submit an application today. They’ve lost everything—but they still have each other. Now they just need someone willing to love them both. Story
Meet Peggy! Peggy is a distinguished older lady with impeccable taste, zero patience for nonsense, and enough sass to power a small city. She considers herself royalty (rightfully so) and expects to be treated as such. Peggy enjoys the finer things in life: a cozy blanket (non-negotiable), a human to snuggle against when she feels like it, and food. Especially food. Honestly, mostly food. Peggy is extremely food-motivated and would absolutely sell state secrets for a snack. Things Peggy does not enjoy include vet visits and nail trims. For these deeply offensive events, she requires a muzzle and your emotional support. Ideally, Peggy would like to live in a home where her people are around most of the time because being alone is overrated, and crates are, in her opinion, an absolute crime. Luckily, she can be trusted outside of one. At night, Peggy insists on sleeping in a human bed, under the covers, like the tiny grandma she is. Peggy’s dream home is one where she is the undisputed center of the universe. Kids are a no. Cats are also a no (she said what she said). She would prefer to be your one and only dog but could tolerate a very specific canine companion: calm, respectful, not young, not hyper, not large, and willing to be bossed around. Peggy would do best in a home without shared walls, as she has strong opinions about outdoor noises and meal prep speed and she will absolutely let you know when you are falling behind schedule. A fenced yard would be lovely so she can sunbathe dramatically with her people, but it’s not required. She is house trained, though she may have an occasional accident in new places or when the weather is rude. Despite being a golden-aged queen, Peggy is in great shape and can still run and jump like a much younger dog. She did arrive with some dental issues and has since had several teeth removed, so she’ll need ongoing dental care but don’t worry, this has not dampened her love of food in the slightest. If you’re looking for a sassy, opinionated, blanket-loving older lady to rule your home (and your heart), apply to meet Peggy today.

Story
Salami is a beautiful chocolate-brown Chihuahua mix with the sweetest eyes and an even sweeter heart. She was rescued from a tough situation where she became pregnant far too young, but those days are behind her now, and Salami is safe, loved, and ready to find her forever family. This gentle girl can be shy at first and appreciates a little time to feel comfortable in new surroundings. Once she does, her playful personality shines through. She loves cuddles, toys, and cozying up with her favorite humans. Salami has proven to be a trusted and well-mannered companion inside the home. She’s doing great with her house training and continues to make steady progress. She’s still working on feeling fully confident in her crate, but with patience and reassurance, she’s learning that it’s a safe and comfortable space. Salami is also learning all about the joys of being an indoor dog and has been doing wonderfully! She’s even taken it upon herself to “decorate” her home with toys in every room, just to make things feel more cheerful. Salami would be happiest in a home with another friendly dog or with humans who are home often, as she loves companionship. She also enjoys having her own space to run and explore, so a fenced yard would be ideal for her to handle her “business” privately and safely. If you’re looking for a tenderhearted companion who just needs a little patience and a lot of love, Salami might be your perfect match!
