Story
Hi, I'm Baby and true to my name, I am just that....a baby. I am 8lbs and 9 years old. I was surrendered with my brother and sister after my human passed away and the extended family couldn't take care of us. I want to be carried around, held, snuggled and taken up and down all stairs, those stairs are scary after all. My favorite thing is to snuggle with my human and my siblings on a soft blanket. I like to climb on my human's lap and lay my head on their shoulder while they rub my head, just like a baby. I'm a little sassy and love to play games when you need to pick me up. I like to a do a little dance before I let you pick me up, but it's absolutely adorable and will make you laugh every time, however, you MUST pick me up eventually, because I'm too little to jump on the couch or bed or to conquer those scary stairs. Once you pick me up, I put my paws on your shoulder and I hold on for dear life. I'm very mellow and just love to snuggle. I am 100% potty trained if taken out regularly or have a potty pad near by. I am extremely bonded to my brother and sister and I rely on my big brother to show me that the world is okay. We must all be adopted together, which could seem hard, but together all 3 of us can conquer the world and are as easy as having 1 dog. We promise to show you so much love for keeping us together. Because we have each, we don't need to sleep in our human's bed and we currently sleep in a crate with a heat pad and blanket, but we would also love to sleep with our humans if they allowed. I've recently had a check-up and a dental. I'm as healthy as can be! Can you find it in your heart to give my brother, sister and me a loving home to live out our senior years with love and peace?Dogs are not placed on a first-come first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal, applications may take up to 48 hours to complete. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Baby's adoption fee is $100. Story
Bunny (aka THE BUNS) is part of the dynamic duo bonded pair with Paquita who found themselves in a New Mexico shelter after their person died, and they would love to be adopted together (see listing for Paquita). She and Paquita are both 3-year-old chi (?) mixes who are as different as night and day but go together like peas and carrots.Bunny is a bustling, supremely huggable, social lady who can seem reserved at first, but will soon be burrowing (and snoring) under the covers, requesting salad greens and joyfully strolling the neighborhood with you once she realizes she can trust you. She loves other dogs, cats, and pretty much everyone she meets. She will use the dog door but prefers to be escorted to the (fenced) yard, especially when its rainy or snowy outside (she will use a potty pad if you let her). Bunny has many opinions about passers-by and is not afraid to voice them, so would be best in a single-family home without shared neighbor walls.Bunny walks well on a leash (harness only please!), knows ''sit'', and has generally nice house manners. She gives a stunning side eye and does a mean downward dog. She has been working on her fitness routine and has lost 8 lbs since coming into rescue (with a few more to go!) – she would appreciate a home that will help her reach her summer swimsuit and social goals and to be able to do that with her bestie, Paquita! You won’t be sorry for inviting this terrific pair into your lives!Paquita is part of the dynamic duo bonded pair with Bunny who found themselves in a New Mexico shelter after their person died, and they would love to be adopted together (see listing for Bunny). She and Bunny are both 3-year-old chi (?) mixes who are as different as night and day but go together like peas and carrots.Paquita is a lithe, athletic girl with the softest coat and most jauntily curled tail. The adventurous explorer in the fenced yard, she is the shyer, quieter of the 2 inside and in public. She is not afraid, however, to tell you if she doesn’t like something and can be a bit grumbly (not nippy), so a home with older, dog-savvy children would probably be best.Paquita will use the dog door but prefers to be escorted to the yard for potty time. In cold and snowy weather, she will use a pee pad if you let her. She loves neighborhood walks (harness only please!) and is learning basic leash manners (it is apparent that she and Bunny never had much leash time). One of her favorite activities is doing speedy laps around the yard, second only to getting her ears cleaned by her bestie Bunny. At night, she will curl up into animpossibly tiny ball of floof at your feet. She would love a forever home with her pal Bunny – double the smiles guaranteed!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Bunny and Paquita's adoption fee is $300 for both of them. Story
Hi! I'm Danny, Dan Dan, or Danny boy. I'm a sweet 12 year old chi and the perfect size at 12lbs. My owner passed away and the extended family couldn't keep my sisters and me, so we got surrendered together in our prime years. Despite my age, I love to do zoomies, go on short walks, get belly rubs, protect my sisters, but mostly, I just love to snuggle up on a soft blanket next to my human and my sisters. I'm pretty mellow most of the time unless I hear a siren, then you'll hear the cutest howl from me. I love most humans, except those smaller ones, they scare me, so I would do best in a home with older, dog savvy kids or adults only. I am 100% potty trained if taken out regularly or have a potty pad near by. I am extremely bonded to my 2 little sisters and they rely on me to show them that the world is okay. Hi! I'm Brownie. I am a sweet, snugly, little 9lb girl and I'm 9 years old. I was surrendered with my brother and sister after my human passed away and the extended family couldn't take care of us. Once in a while, I'll get excited and get the zoomies or want an occasional belly rub, but I mostly keep to myself (with my brother and sister). I am a very easy-going girl. My favorite things are food, going outside to go potty and snuggling up next to my humans and siblings on a soft blanket. I'm the most daring of my siblings, I love all people and dogs and will warm up to them quicker than my siblings do. I am 100% potty trained if taken out regularly or have a potty pad near by. Story
Harvey is a super special senior who is looking for his super special humans. At about 10 years old, Harvey is old enough to know what he likes - eating and napping! - and what he doesn't - being touched unless it's his idea. Harvey can be a nervous guy around big dogs and new people, we haven't seen him around cats and he shouldn't live with children. Harvey comes by his hesitation honestly, he likely lived a life of neglect and finally abandonment before coming to CAWS and didn't get all the love and care a dog should receive. We're dedicated to changing that now! We know Harvey's people are out there - someone who will allow him to climb onto your lap when he's ready for cuddles, and someone who won't hold his tendency to snap when he feels threatened against him. Harvey has Cushing's disease and thyroid issues, and will require lifelong medication and dedicated care. Harvey does bark, so he'd do better in a house than an apartment with shared walls. If you think you have the big heart to give Harvey the life he deserves, please fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. Story
Sunshine is an approximately 12 year longer hair black with some gray Chihuahua mix, weighing 12 pounds. She gives an occasional ever so soft kiss when she cuddles with you on the couch. She loves her cuddles on the couch with her 2 legged people and of course sleeps with them at night, but she will occasionally lounge in a dog bed on the floor. She gives a little growl to the other 4 legged furkids while she is on the couch to let them know that is her space. Sunshine gets along wonderfully with the other furkids in her foster home while they are all outside and waiting to get fed, she eats side by side with them. Sunshine was rescued from a situation with too many dogs in the home. She was immediately taken to the vet and diagnosed with diabetes. She has been spot on for a couple years now with her Novolin N 4 units of insulin twice a day after she eats her prescription WD dog food. She had a dental with 3 teeth extracted but numerous teeth missing. Sunshine is mostly blind so has a prescription eye drop twice a day. She has gets check regularly with the eye ophthalmologist and unfortunately is not a candidate for cataract surgery. She is such a trooper getting her shots and eye drops. She waddles around with her tail wagging and finds her way in the house and back yard to do her business. Sunshine is totally house and crate trained. Little Miss Sunshine is the sweetest, awesome girl who will most certainly be the love of someone’s life. She just needs savvy people who can deal with her insulin shots and eye drops on a consistent schedule to keep her diabetes in check. Sunshine needs to go to a home with no children and a back yard so she can be her best and be safe and secure. Because Sunshine is small and only on 4 units of insulin twice a day, the cost for her diabetic needs is not as expensive as you’d think, a big bag of prescription WD dog food along with a spoon of canned WD will last her a couple months. A vial of insulin should last a couple months as well. She will need regular vet visits to check her insulin level. If you have the means to provide this precious little lady medical care for diabetes and eye drops, please consider meeting her to see if you are her forever family that will give her the chance for unconditional love and life.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $100.
