Story
Hi everyone! Meet Snoopy.  He is a Long Hair Chihuahua Mix. He is a 14 pound ball of energy! His perfect day involves hiking through a forested trail or exploring a rocky beach. He is always up for an adventure in nature! He loves jumping over logs and walking through shallow creeks. Afterwards he can relax and snuggle on the couch. He is very affectionate and love giving kisses! Post nap, he can play fetch or tug of war with his favorite squeaker toy. he can end the day with a peanut butter kong and some belly rubs. Dislikes: Walking on streets with heavy traffic, especially when buses and unmuffled cars drive by. The noise is stressful for him, and he prefers the safety of home. He is also sensitive to certain noises, and will alert with a bark. We have been working on ways to provide a relaxing outlet when there is too much going on during walks like a Citronella Collar.  This is a big reason why having my own backyard would be amazing! I like to watch over my home, so new people must allow me a chance to feel safe around them.. Once they walk through the door,  It helps is meeting new people while on a leash. It shows me they are friendly and safe. I am a nervous dog by breed or nature.  I have been trying to build a more secure peronality.  A good trainer and dedicated adopter can help me overcome my fears.  I'm not crate trained but have used a pen. I'm working on the pen being my safe space. I do very well at the veterinary clinic and have gotten compliments for my sweet nature. I also do well getting my nails professionally trimmed.  I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. What I need: No young children.  I do better with adults. A gated backyard. I absolutely love running and can run for hours! My fast, agile body would be amazing at agility courses He can be shy and nervous around other dogs, especially if they don't respect boundaries. However, he can be comfortable with them over time.   ##1867517##

Story
Lottie is going to be 4 years old on Valentine’s Day! I love Lottie with all my heart. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Lottie has separation anxiety. I work during the days. When I am away, she will cry for me and it’s become a problem at my apartment complex. Lottie is loyal, loving, and truly a wonderful dog. She is anxious, but I feel like that is because she is a dog living in an apartment. I feel like Lottie will be happiest with a new mom or dad who can be home or in the home more often for her separation anxiety. I would also love to see her go to a good home with an actual yard for her to play in and get good exercise daily. She has Chihuahua tendencies. She is not great with other animals she doesn’t know. She loves kids, but sudden movements, scare her and she will bark. She has never bitten a person. Anyhow, I really do love her but am no longer able to keep her. The thought of her at the pound breaks my heart. I can’t let that happen.

Story
Meet Woofgang Puck, or just Puck for short! This lovable 8-year-old Chihuahua mix is a little bundle of joy, possibly with a sprinkle of Beagle in his genes. At first, Puck may come off as shy, but give him a moment, and his playful side will shine like a star! Puck adores his toys and loves to get into some light-hearted trouble—just picture him as the life of the party! He enjoys his naps, but don’t let him miss out on the fun; after all, who wants to snooze through an adventure? He loves being outside, but keep an eye on him—if the yard isn’t secure, he might go on his own mini explorations. And be careful! If a door is left open, he’s ready to dash out! When it comes to other dogs, Puck needs a little help. He has a tendency to “assist” them with their meals, which can be quite annoying. His friendly greetings can be a bit much—he barks, jumps, and wags his tail enthusiastically, which may confuse his canine pals. With some training, he can learn to tone it down. He’s also learning how to handle his protective instincts, but if you have other pets, be prepared to guide him through it. Puck is quite the jumper when he’s excited and might unexpectedly leap onto you, giving playful nips at your legs! He listens when corrected but often forgets the rules once the fun starts again. While he’s crate trained, Puck feels much more comfortable snoozing on a cozy bed rather than being confined to a crate. Sleeping in your bed isn’t something he’s into just yet. The good news is, he’s house trained and will let you know when it’s time to go out. Puck does have a heart murmur and takes medication twice a day for it. He can get a bit anxious, especially when being picked up or during car rides, and sitting on laps isn’t really his scene. This sweet boy is looking for a forever home filled with love, patience, and understanding. With your support, Puck will be ready for short hikes and exciting adventures with his favorite human! Puck has been neutered, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. He also had a recent dental and lost a few teeth. Story
Hi, I’m Nora! I’m a 6-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix with a BIG personality and an even bigger heart. I love to make an entrance—whether I’m zooming down the hallway or running in and out of the house, you’ll hear me coming! My tail is usually wagging, and I’m always excited to see my people. When playtime is over, I’m a total snuggle bug and would be very happy curled up next to you on the couch. I’m loyal to the core and once I choose my person, you’re my person forever. I can be a little sassy (okay, maybe a lot), but that’s part of my charm. I also LOVE toys—seriously, I’ve built quite the collection and I’m very proud of it. I get along with other dogs, though I can be a bit bossy at times. I don’t have to be an only pup, but I do best with dog-savvy humans who understand that small dogs can have big feelings. I’m very protective of my people and just want to keep them safe. Cats? Well… I think they’re fun to chase, so I’d probably prefer a home without them (or with cats who can stand their ground). The good news? I’m crate trained, house trained, great on a leash, spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped—and I just had a dental, so my smile is sparkling. If you’re looking for a sweet, spunky, toy-loving cuddle buddy with loads of personality, I might be your girl. I promise to love you fiercely and keep life entertaining. Story
Meet Pistol Annie! Don’t let her tiny size fool you—Pistol Annie is a big personality packed into a 4-pound, 1-year-old Chihuahua body. True to her name, she’ll happily announce your arrival with a bark and a playful grab at your pant legs. Yes, she’s a classic (and admittedly adorable) ankle biter with both humans and her dog friends, so she’ll do best with patient, understanding humans and dog-savvy siblings who can help guide her manners. That said, Pistol Annie has a softer side that absolutely steals hearts. She may very well be the best cuddler ever born—once she’s in your arms, she’s all snuggles and sweetness. She loves playing with other dogs and, while her behavior is cute at her size, continued training will help her become the best little companion she can be. She’s likely best suited for a home with older kids who understand how to interact with a tiny dog. Cats are an unknown at this time. Pistol Annie appears to be potty pad trained and uses the dog door, though consistency is still a work in progress. If you’re looking for a pint-sized firecracker with a cuddle bug heart, Pistol Annie might just be your perfect match. Annie has been spayed, had a pesky hernia repaired, has tested negative for heartworm, is current on vaccines and has a microchip. If you are interested in adopting Pistol Annie, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt).
