Story
Meet Spirit 💛 Hi there… my name is Spirit, but if you ask nicely, you can call me Pretty Girl or Lady Dog. I’m a sweet 12–13 year old lady with a gentle soul. These days, my favorite hobby is napping — I’ve truly perfected the art. A cozy bed, a soft blanket, and the peaceful presence of my people? That’s my idea of a perfect afternoon. Every now and then I’ll surprise you by taking interest in an occasional cat toy… just to keep things interesting. Because I have some arthritis in my shoulders and hips, I prefer short, slow walks. I like to take my time and enjoy the little things. I also have limited sight and hearing, and I don’t have any teeth left. I can be a little unsure about shadows and windy days — they’re mysterious and a bit spooky to a lady with my limited vision. But with reassurance and a calm environment, I feel safe and content. My very best friends are my foster mom and dad. They give me delicious wet food and lots of love, which I think is a very fair trade for my devotion and sweet company. I’m good with cats and other dogs, and while it’s not known how I feel about kids, I’m such a calm and gentle girl that a quiet home would suit me best. If you’re looking for a low-key, loving companion who will happily snooze by your side and warm your heart every single day, I might just be your girl. Love, Spirit 🐾

Story
Meet Ollie! This 8-year-old Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix is the whole package in an 18-lb fluffy frame: a sweet companion who's always up for an adventure and a certified charmer. His signature move? Sitting up and pumping his front paws at you like he's begging. We affectionately call this his “WANT WANT WANT”, and good luck saying no! PersonalityOllie warms up to new people quickly and greets visitors and strangers. He's usually quiet around the house, but he'll let you know with a bark when it's playtime. His perfect day: a few rounds of fetch, a walk around the neighborhood, kicking a soccer ball around, and then settling in for a long belly rub session.Around the HouseOllie is fully house trained with excellent manners - no counter surfing, no accidents, no chewing, no door darting. He knows 'sit,' 'paw,' and his famous 'dance,' and his leash manners are great. He will bark a bit at passing dogs, but he doesn't pull. In the car, he's a dream: he just curls up in the seat and sleeps.Energy LevelLow to medium. Ollie is always ready for a game or a walk, but he's just as happy lounging next to you. His dream home has a fenced yard and someone who'll play soccer and fetch with him — he loves chasing a ball around. That said, a short daily walk and some toy time keep him perfectly content, and he'd do well in an apartment with someone who spends quality time with him. (Fair warning: birds who trespass in his yard will be chased out with a loud warning. He takes this job very seriously.)Gets Along WithDogs: Great — he currently lives happily with other dogsKids: Great — he came from a home with childrenCats: Not a fan — he needs a cat-free homeMedical NeedsOllie takes seizure medication three times a day (every 8 hours) — he's too small for a twice-daily dose. His condition is well managed, but his adopter needs a schedule that can accommodate consistent dosing times. Beyond that, he has no physical limitations: his eyes, ears, and legs all work great, especially when a ball is involved.Ideal HomeOllie is adaptable — he'd thrive in a house with a yard, or would do well in an apartment with regular, consistent walks. He does well with other dogs or as an only pet, and he'd be a wonderful first dog. He needs someone who can commit to his medication schedule, keep the cats away, and appreciate a little guy with a big personality and even bigger paw-pump energy. If Ollie sounds like the guy for you, please complete an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Story
Hi there, I'm Milo! I'm a 6-month-old, 11-lb Chihuahua. I might be small, but I have a whole lot of love to give. Right now, the world feels a little big and scary to me, so I'm looking for a patient, gentle family to help me grow into the confident pup I know I can be. Once I know I'm safe, my sweet, playful side completely shines! My perfect home will have a doggy sibling for me to hang out with - I LOVE other dogs! Seeing a furry friend gets me so excited and brings out my playful side. Having a kind, confident dog in the home will help show me the ropes and build my bravery. As for the humans in the house, I have a strong preference for women and children. Currently, men make me very scared. But as for kids - yes, please! My current foster home has three young kids, and they are my best friends. I play with them all day, get super excited when they walk into the room, and shower them with kisses. I'm doing great at going potty outside! As long as you give me plenty of frequent opportunities to go out, I've got it down. Speaking of outside, I'd really like a secure yard to hang out in, as I'm a certified sun worshipper. That secure yard is important, because I am not so great on a leash. Because I'm so timid, the outside world beyond my yard is a bit too overwhelming, so I haven't wanted to go for walks yet. We can work on leash training slowly at my own pace. Please don't let my shyness deter you, my foster mom says I will 'definitely come around with time' and thinks I'm a treasure! If you'd like to meet me, please fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Milo's adoption fee is $300. Story
Nuggie is a 15-year-old Chihuahua with so much love to give! He’s a devoted companion who finds comfort in being close to his person, and truly thrives on that special one-on-one bond. He gets along well with other dogs and cats and brings a calm, easygoing presence to a quiet home. Nuggie will be happiest with someone who is around most of the time to help him feel safe and secure. Because of his sensitive nature, Nuggie needs an experienced, patient, adult-only home—ideally with one dedicated caregiver. He can be a bit particular about his space and handling at times, so he’ll do best with someone who understands small dogs and can read his cues, giving him the consistency and respect he needs to feel comfortable! In return, Nuggie will be a deeply loyal little companion who just wants a cozy place, a steady routine, and a person to love with his whole heart.

Story
Meet Brittney Female DOB: June 06, 2023 Weight: 10 pounds Breed: Chihuahua Mix Spayed (Fixed) Vaccines: Up to Date Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Brittney is an incredibly sweet, loving, and affectionate little girl who thrives on human companionship. At 2 years old, she has the perfect balance of youthful energy and adult maturity. Her favorite place is wherever her people are, and she is happiest when she can be close to those she loves. Brittney has a gentle heart and a friendly personality that makes it easy to fall in love with her. She enjoys affection, cuddles, and spending quality time with her family. Whether she's joining you for a walk, relaxing on the couch, or simply following you around the house, Brittney is a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to be part of your life. As a Chihuahua Mix, Brittney is likely to be intelligent, loyal, and deeply bonded to her family. Chihuahua mixes are known for their loving personalities and often form strong connections with their people. They thrive when included as part of the family and enjoy companionship, routine, and positive reinforcement. Brittney would thrive in a home prepared for: Daily companionship and interaction Continued training and guidance Mental stimulation and enrichment Structure, consistency, and routine Plenty of love and affection A lifelong commitment to her emotional and physical well-being She would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal best friend and loving shadow. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should expect to continue training and support after adoption. Like all rescue dogs, Brittney may need time to adjust to a new home and routine. Patience, consistency, and love will help her feel secure and allow her wonderful personality to shine. Brittney will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Exercise and mental stimulation Patience, consistency, and supervision Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, guidance, and commitment, dogs like Brittney blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes training, daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, financial responsibility, and emotional commitment throughout every stage of life. Brittney will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine veterinary care and wellness exams Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Proper nutrition and weight management Mental stimulation and enrichment A safe, stable, indoor living environment Because of her smaller size, care should be taken around larger animals, rough play, and unsecured outdoor spaces. Brittney is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. She enjoys spending time with her people, exploring her surroundings, and soaking up all the attention and affection she can get. Like many puppies, she is curious about the world and excited to learn new things every day. Rubi has intelligence, loyalty, athleticism, and a strong desire to bond with her family. Black Mouth Cur mixes are often known for their devotion and eagerness to please, while Terriers bring curiosity, confidence, and playful energy. Rubi is expected to mature into a small adult dog. Rubi would thrive in a home prepared for: Ongoing puppy training and supervision Daily exercise, playtime, and enrichment Positive socialization experiences Structure, consistency, and routine A lifelong commitment to her physical and emotional well-being Puppies are adorable, but they are also a major responsibility that requires patience, training, supervision, and long-term commitment. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue puppies come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Even very young puppies require guidance and supervision to learn how to become confident, well-mannered adult dogs. Puppies are not automatically trained simply because they are young. While we work hard to provide safety, care, and basic socialization, adopters should expect to continue all training and development after adoption. Adopting a puppy means being prepared for: Potty training and accidents Teething and chewing phases Crate training and leash training Nighttime wakeups and supervision Jumping and playful puppy behavior Continued socialization and confidence-building Daily exercise and enrichment Routine veterinary visits and vaccine boosters Financial commitment throughout the dog's lifetime Rubi will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Mental stimulation and enrichment Patience, consistency, and supervision Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, guidance, and commitment, puppies like Rubi grow into wonderful lifelong companions. Rubi will need: Ongoing puppy training and guidance Routine veterinary visits and vaccine boosters Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Proper nutrition and growth monitoring Daily exercise, enrichment, and companionship A safe, stable, indoor living environment Puppies require regular veterinary care throughout their first year, including booster vaccines, wellness exams, and spay surgery when age-appropriate. Because Rubi is still young and growing, adopters should be prepared for the normal puppy stages that include chewing, teething, accidents, testing boundaries, and continued social development. Rubi is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside.
