Story
Meet Pixie Stix!Pixie Stix is an adorable, 14-pound Chihuahua/Terrier mix who is almost 5 years old and as sweet as her name suggests. This happy, affectionate little girl loves nothing more than getting your attention, soaking up pets, and exploring the backyard. She can be a bit reserved at first, but she warms up quickly and isn’t fearful—just a gentle soul who likes to take a moment to get to know you.In the home, Pixie Stix has excellent manners. She’s fully house trained, does fine in a crate (though she may bark at first), and is mostly quiet, but she will whine and bark when she needs something. She hasn’t had much leash experience, but she’s willing and would benefit from regular walks to help her trim down a bit. In the car she wants to sit in your lap, so a crate or a way to secure her is best., She gets along with dogs of all sizes, and mostly does her own thing. Cats, however, are a little too interesting for her—she wants to play and doesn’t always pick up on their boundaries—so a cat-free home is recommended.Pixie Stix enjoys lounging, exploring the yard, and being close to her people. She would thrive in a home where she gets plenty of attention and companionship. Whether she’s your one-and-only or joining another friendly dog, she’ll fit right in. Her signature move is staring up at you with her irresistible puppy-dog eyes, asking for love, and she truly shines when she’s spending time with her humans. If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who just wants to be loved, Pixie Stix is ready to wiggle her way into your heart.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Story
Ritz is a 12 year, 23.6 pound, mostly black with some tan Chihuahua mix. He is a bit overweight so we are working on slimming him down at least 5 pounds, and he has already lost a couple. He has had recent blood work, a dental with a few extractions, and a cherry eye fixed so he is like a new man. He does have a grade 2 out of 6 heart murmur but is not on any medications for that. Our little guy came to us very confused and scared from a local shelter so we are going ever so slow with him to let him know he is now safe. Ritz is not a barker. He is actually quiet as a little mouse and gives gentle sweet kisses with a tail that wags with happiness. He does love to chase a ball and will bring it back to you, so cute for a little guy his age. We have not convinced him he can come up on the couch with everyone yet but we are trying to let him know that is okay in his foster home. He curls up on a dog bed on the floor or in a crate but his 2 legged people work from home so he is not crated very often. He is totally house and crate trained and sleeps through the night. He gets along with all dogs, male and female, big and small. He is such a magnificent and charming gentleman, unique as can be. Due to his age he needs to go to a home with older, respectful children. We prefer he go to a home with a yard because he loves to linger outside and 2 legged people who work from home or can take him to work with them, or retired so he is not alone. He does okay in a crate but we do not want him to live in a crate. If you can give this fabulous little man a safe and secure home with unconditional love, please fill out an application for a meet and greet. He oozes pure sweetness and joy. Ritz should have never ended up in a shelter but he crossed our path and so now we will find his furever lasting home that he is so worthy of. He literally takes your breath away.Dogs are not placed on a first-come first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal, applications may take up to 48 hours to complete. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Ritz's adoption fee is $100. Story
Meet Harvey: The Menace on Bird Legs Are you ready for the ultimate pint-sized hurricane? Meet Harvey, a 6-month-old Chihuahua mix who is equal parts sweet puppy and absolute menace on bird legs. If he had a theme song, it would be "Trouble" by Elvis. Why You’ll Love Him: • The "Alligator" Phase: Harvey has a bit of an alligator spirit! He’s currently exploring the world with his teeth, so bring your A-game (and your toughest chew toys) to keep him occupied. • Potty Pro-in-Training: This little guy is doing a fantastic job with his house manners. He’s mastering the potty pad, but as a young pup, he needs a patient mentor to help these habits stick. • Friendly but Feisty: Harvey loves his human and dog companions! He’s a social butterfly, though he needs a little "warm-up" time to make new canine friends. He’s indifferent to cats, but let’s be real: your resident cat might not appreciate this high-energy whippersnapper’s zest for life quite as much as he does! The Perfect Fit: Because Harvey is a delicate, petite pup, we are looking for a home without small children. He would thrive with an energetic canine best friend who has the patience to handle his wild puppy antics. Harvey is in a major learning phase; with consistent guidance and plenty of toys to gnaw on, he is destined to become the best boy. Think you can handle the mischief? Harvey is ready to bring his chaotic charm into your life. Are you ready to be his patient, energetic mentor? Harvey has been neutered, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Harvey, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt). For more information, call/text Jessa at 385-522-0317 or email jessa.hurty@gmail.com

Story
Have you ever thought, “I really wish I had a buddy in the bathroom”? Or maybe you’ve wanted someone to help you stay accountable by “taste testing” when you cook a little too much. Perhaps you’ve dreamed of a heated eye mask. Well… meet Tyra, because this tiny girl is ready to be all of that and more. Tyra is a 4 month old spunky shadow who believes personal space is a myth. If you think she’s close, she’s positive she can get closer. She’s happiest glued to her people and is hoping her forever family might be you. Because she’s smaller than a house cat, the world can feel a little scary, and right now she expresses that by telling you all about it. She’ll need a home ready to help her build confidence and continue her training so she can grow into her bravest, best self. Tyra is working hard on potty training, thriving on a schedule, and learning to sleep in her kennel at night. She currently lives with a dog, a cat, and a kiddo—she loves everyone, but she’d prefer a home without cats. Trust her, she’s convinced they’re up to something. Dog savvy kids are best since she’s still learning manners and believes kisses are a love language. If you’ve got confidence to spare and want a devoted best friend who will follow you anywhere, Tyra is your girl. Tyra has been spayed, is current on vaccinations, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Tyra, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt). For more information, call/text Cathy at 801-598-0771 or email cv-sandy@hotmail.com
