Story
Luna's Story: We adopted Luna, a Chihuahua-Papillon mix (Chion) about three years ago. She is around 6 or 7 years old. Luna spent the first three years of her life in a cage, unsocialized, which has shaped her strong and sometimes challenging personality. Luna does have some aggression issues when meeting new people and dogs, but she adjusts once she gets to know them. She currently lives with children and does well with our family. She also shares a home with a Bouvier and a Pit Bull mix, and she has no issues with them. However, Luna cannot be in the same room as another of our dogs; they simply do not get along, and their interactions have become increasingly dangerous. We are looking for a new home where Luna can be in a calm, structured environment. She would do best with an experienced owner who is patient, understanding, and able to give her the consistent care and attention she needs. Luna is fiercely loyal and spirited. While she has her quirks, she can be a sweet companion.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: joshuahtrescue@gmail.com PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ LOCATION: Foster ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Joshua ADOPTION FEE: $475. This fee INCLUDES spay/neuter and microchip. **Ask me about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, training and other discounts! I'm a girl for all seasons! Age is only a number, I heard some people say that. And it's true. I'm no puppy these days, but I love to be included in whatever you are doing. If it's time to sit and watch TV, then I am right beside you, and if it's time for walks, then I'm ready to go as far as my little legs will take me. In my new foster home, I don’t even need to be left in the crate when the people are out, because I am already house trained and don’t get into people-stuff. That's good for you, and for me, because I don’t like the crate. I'm a very laid back girl, but don't let that fool you. I'm as clever as a fox! I keep figuring out how to get around the barriers my foster family puts up to keep me away from the windows while the people are away, someone mentioned that I bark at cars and people outside the window, but if that's true it's only because the people need to hear me. I've taught my foster brother how to get through the barriers too, and even the barriers that are supposed to keep us downstairs. I am very proud of how smart I am and find my foster mom to show her that I defeated her barricade. My foster sister is a senior chihuahua diva, and we take turns with mom. Before my foster home, I was with a family who had to give me up. My people divorced and they could no longer take care of me. At first, I was sad, but now I get to make another family happy, and at my age! Not a lot of pups get that chance and I am going to make the most of it. Do you want to meet me and see how I can be your girl for all seasons? Email my friend Joshua at JoshuaHTRescue@gmail.com ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 25 lbs KNOWN WITH DOGS: Good with other dogs, foster home has two dogs including a senior chihuahua diva who is notorious for disliking other dogs that take attention away from her Mom, but Winter is doing well with both foster siblings. KNOWN WITH CATS: Unknown KNOWN WITH KIDS: Winter is good with kids KNOWN COMMANDS: Winter knows how sit and touch. She is food motivated and wants to please you. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Winter is housebroken. She doesn’t like being confined to a crate, but she has done well being left out with her foster’s dogs when she is away at work. The foster has someone who comes in mid-day to take the dogs out and Winter enjoys this. KNOWN LIKES: Winter wants to be near her people and to be included in whatever is happening in the home. She loves to sit next to you on the couch to watch TV, be outside, and go on walks. She walks at a good pace and doesn’t pull on the leash. She also likes to eat and is working to lose a few pounds through her diet and walking program. KNOWN DISLIKES: Being in the crate. HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines & de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital, Union Veterinary Clinic and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) A portion of EVERY ADOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities BE A FOSTER: Save a life: http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program.

She is very well behaved in a home. KNOWN LIKES: She LOVES to cuddle. Her favorite place is a lap. She absolutely loves her people and being right next to you KNOWN DISLIKES: She does not love the crate, but is OK in there at times. She really does not need the crate though! She's been very mindful of the rules in the house. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Noel is a very sweet dog that nursed her puppies when she first came to homeward trails, and now needs a home of her own!! Her foster says she is the BIGGEST cuddle bug. She really wants to be on your lap! She likes to be with other dogs, but we have seen her coexist rather then play with everyone. Story
Spunky little guy seeks fun-loving folks who like fun-loving doggies. I am very social, however I do chase cats and find bigger dogs pretty scary. I should be fine as either an only dog or with dogs around my own size. I'm fully housetrained and a total lovebug. Please let us know if you would like to meet Remi! Remi was adopted almost 5 years ago. Remi brought happiness to his family, and they learned to love him. Unfortunately, the family's circumstances changed, and they are no longer able to take care of him. They have been dealing with allergies for years without knowing that I was allergic to dogs. They think he will be better off with another family. The family says that Remi is a wonderful, healthy dog. Thank you for your interest in Remi M!
