Aspen is the type of dog who will run up to greet you with a kiss. Her goal is to sit on as many laps as she can! This cutie is so sweet and easygoing with other dogs. She LOVES to snuggle into a blanket and stay burrowed through the night. She is the PERFECT Chihuahua! All of the volunteers who meet her wish they were her foster parents! LOL She is THAT CUTE! Ralph came from a very sad situation with a backyard breeder where he was used for breeding and horribly neglected. Ralph does great with other dogs but is scarred of new people and it is taking some time for him to learn to trust humans so he is anxious around people including children. He still flinches when touched. He is making progress on house training. He will need someone who has experience dealing with very skittish dogs and has a great deal of patience and also a very secure fenced yard. He loves to sleep in his be under a blanket – a luxury he never had before coming to HART. Questions About this Animal? Meet Gracie, a sweet girl who just wants to snuggle up next to her person. Gracie is a 1 year old Chihuahua mix with a heart full of love. She's a quick learner who already knows a few basic commands in the time she's been with us. Gracie's favorite spot is the lap or side of her chosen people. It may take her a little bit to warm up to new people and animals, but don't let this couch potato fool you! Once she's excited and ready to play she'll spin in circles like a ballerina before launching into full zoomies. Gracie gets along fantasticly with her foster brother and the neighborhood dogs, and would do well in a home with other dogs, though we aren't sure about how she is with cats yet. Gracie is still working on house and crate training but we know it's just a matter of time before she gets the hang of it. Don't miss your chance with this playful, loveable pup!

Current Location: Union Bridge, MD Looking for a little fox with a big personality? Meet Redford, a handsome 8-year-old, 15 lb., red mahogany Chihuahua mix with a heart as big as they come. Redford is a curious, independent, and friendly boy who has settled into foster life beautifully. He is easygoing and adaptable, and he does not mind a busy household or the commotion of several large dogs. He enjoys following his canine friends around to see what everyone is up to, and he is great with people, including the very large humans in his life! Redford is wonderfully house trained and learned his leash manners remarkably quickly. He walks nicely and does not need a fenced yard, making him a great fit for many types of homes. He also knows “kennel” and is completely comfortable in his crate while his foster family is at work. He can also be trusted to relax in his own room when left out. He is very food motivated and eager to learn when treats are involved. He is also happy to accept praise and has been easy to teach. Even nail trims are no big deal for this little guy. Redford has a wonderfully balanced energy level. He is content with light daily activity, enjoys an occasional play session or short walk, and is equally happy settling down on the couch. One of his favorite things is sitting with his foster family and the other dogs while watching TV. Yes, he actually watches TV! Redford is friendly with strangers, good with other dogs, and wonderfully adaptable. He is the kind of dog who can fit into many different homes and simply enjoys being part of the family. He may look like a little fox, but his real superpower is being an incredibly easy and lovable companion.
