Story
Our precious little guy, Benji, is just the most darling 4 lbs. Chi/Yorkie mix puppy that you will ever find up for adoption.  There is no human that he doesn't want to be friends with and no dog that intimidates him, no matter the size.  He is living with children aged 4 to 16 and enjoys the fast-pace of his foster home with all the bigger dogs, kids and family sounds and people coming and going.  He is curious and fearless.  Recently this little guy attended a Puppy Yoga class at the YMCA with 40 people in attendance.  He raced around the huge Yoga class just having the best time being a lap buddy for a few minutes with lots of cute woman and young teens, and then running off to make another new friend!!!!!   The room was big, there were lots of people there and other bigger puppies, too who were running around.  He joined right in looking for lots of fun, lap snuggles and trying to make as many new friends in an hour as he could! This boy, Benji,  is crate trained, working on housebreaking and he is going to be your best friend and little buddy ever.  Don't hesitate ....he is ready January 15th!   To sign up and apply please, email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 12, 2026, 9:04 pm

Story
Mr. Fluff is a delicate little one-year-old, Deerhead mix Chihuahua weighing just 8 pounds, and who is searching for a calm, nurturing home where patience and love come first. While he is undeniably beautiful on the outside, his heart is still healing from a difficult beginning. Mr. Fluff came from a home that just could not take care of him. After one month in foster care, he has made truly remarkable progress and continues to blossom every day. In his foster home, Princess Fluff has learned that laps are safe, cuddles are wonderful, and gentle voices bring comfort. he seeks affection and enjoys being close to his people once he feels secure. Inside the home he is relaxed, playful in his own quiet way, and his sweet personality is beginning to shine through. he is still building confidence outdoors and leash walks in a fenced yard will prove to be a big confidence booster for him. Mr. Fluff would thrive in a home where his people can continue this positive exposure at his pace. Car rides and neighborhood strolls are goals we know he will enjoy as he gains confidence. Mr. Fluff would do best in a peaceful home with plenty of time and attention devoted to him. he may do well with one other calm, confident dog, but he truly wants to be someone’s special boy. Children in the home should be over the age of 10 and able to respect his gentle nature. he is crate trained and making steady progress with house training. We are being honest in saying that Mr. Fluff still has some shyness to overcome — but he is absolutely worth the patience and love it takes to help him fully bloom. If you believe you could be the safe place he’s been waiting for, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.  January 12, 2026, 9:04 pm

Story
This special little one year old chihuahua is called Magic Maude.  And especially sensitive little girl, that somehow got just a little too round and is on a dedicated exercise in nutrition program to drop some weight.  Currently, she is eighteen pounds and we field that she would be best to be in the ten to twelve pound range as a goal.  She originally was in a chaotic home that animal control had to step in and take away 112 chihuahuas that we're living in the home.  An unfathomable amount of dogs that were not altered, but yet healthy.  When mod came to our rescue and was put in a foster home. She lay there in her crate for days very depressed and emotionally unresponsive.  She barely moved from the one spot she lay in.   Eventually, after almost two weeks, she perked up with the company of few other chihuahuas coming to join her in her large crate.  Soon she was going on walks with the foster. Mom and seemed to enjoy the freedom of being outside, taking in all the new sights and sounds of the neighborhood.  We know she had never been leash walked due to the overcrowding at her original home.  This girl is spayed and healthy and ready to start all over again. She wants love and we promised her a great family who will love her and take her for walks and treat her like the Magic Maude that she is.  She is currently in Nashville, Tennessee, and can be transported to the northeast region as well. Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue  at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  if you want to adopt or know more.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 7, 2025, 6:32 pm

Story
House trained: Mostly with an occasional accident Energy level:Low Noise level: Barks occasionally My foster guardian says: My favorite thing about Coco is just how tiny she is, and how much she loves her people! Likes: Cuddling under a blanket, napping, short walks, riding in the car Hi, Im Coco! My nickname is Coco Bean, because Im sweeter than chocolate, and as tiny as a baby bean! Im 7 pounds of love and cuteness, and Im so excited to find my forever family! As any distinguished Chihuahua does, I have some specific preferences. I like to be picked up in a certain way (dont worry, youll learn how), and I like to have my harness put on in a certain way, and I like to be pet in a certain way, and I like to sniff certain smells on certain routes on my walks! Some might call me a diva, but my foster mom calls me a pint-sized bundle of cuddles and says that Im the best girl ever and so easy to take care of. I promise I really am! Just a few quick walks a day are all the exercise I need, and Im very laid back and well-behaved at home. I can get a little anxious when my routine changes, so Im looking for a family who will be happy to keep things consistent. I also love to be with my people more than anything, so Im practicing staying home alone without getting upset. My foster family thinks Ill get better at this as I settle in, and gain confidence that they are going to come back when they leave. I live with a cat, and we get along fine, though let me just say, he has an attitude problem. He sometimes tries to snuggle my people, my people! Can you believe that? Somehow, I rise above and remain very civil with him. Im also pretty neutral towards other dogs as well. I dont usually want to play or even sniff hello, but Im fine with other dogs saying hi if they want. I really just dont have the time, myself. Ive got to get back to snuggling my humans! Speaking of which, Im really looking for a family who wants a snugglebug of a pup. I like to spend most of my time resting and napping, preferably in someones bed, with my people close by. I do get the zoomies on occasion, and like to run around on the bed with my toys. But after a quick play break, its back to napping for me! If youre looking to add a whole bunch of sweetness with a little bit of spice to your life, I might just be your cup of teaerCoco!!! Apply to adopt me today! Coco has a luxating patella and is on heart medication. Please visit our website www.ruraldogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing dog and to see other dogs available for adoption!

Story
Male, 6 years old, 49 pounds Personality: snuggler, quiet, affectionate, gentle, and calm. Looking for a laid-back, snuggly companion who’d love to enjoy a quiet night in with you? Meet Jaxxson! This distinguished gentleman enjoys plenty of short walks during the day to get his steps in, but when he’s home, his favorite thing to do is snuggle up next to you on the couch for some R&R. Even when left alone in the house with the freedom to wander, his fosters usually come back to find him in the same spot that he was in when they left. Jaxxson is a gentle soul who gets along well with humans of all ages. He currently lives with three adults and four children between the ages of 8 years and 11 months and is happy to accept pets from everyone. He’s even patient when the baby tries to pull his ears, simply moving away to a safe spot. (It’s all part of his master plan — he loves to wait under the baby’s chair during mealtimes in case a stray snack or two happens to drop down to him.) Jaxxson is doing well with house training, walks well on a leash, and is trusted alone uncrated. Does this chill dude sound like a good fit for your home? Apply today to meet Jaxxson! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC.
