Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Chencha finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Chencha | 3-Year-Old Collie/German Shepherd Mix | 40 lbs of Energy and Heart Chencha is a stunning 40-pound Collie/German Shepherd mix with a playful personality and an enormous heart. At three years old, she’s a high-energy, affectionate girl who loves being as close to her people as possible — paws in your lap, head under your hand, ready for pets at all times. She is almost fully house trained and understands that potty time happens outside. She’ll stand by the door to let you know she needs to go and does best with a consistent schedule. Chencha is kennel trained and settles after a little initial whining. She can experience some FOMO when left alone but relaxes once she adjusts. Chencha thrives on activity and would do best in a very active home with a securely fenced yard. She loves running, playing, and especially romping with other energetic dogs. A daily jog, hike, or long game of fetch would be right up her alley. After a good play session, she’s happy to sploot and recharge. On leash, she’s still building confidence and working through some reactivity, but she improves as the walk continues and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement. Chencha can also be vocal, especially when she’s excited or alerting to something, so she would not be a good fit for apartment living. A single-family home with space to move and play would be ideal for her. She enjoys toys, tug-of-war, chew bones, water play, and brushing. Because of her enthusiastic (and sometimes clumsy) play style, she would likely do best with older children. Chencha is ready for a patient, active, loving family who will continue helping her grow in confidence while embracing her joyful, silly spirit. In return, she’ll bring nonstop fun, loyalty, and plenty of impressive sploots.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Story
Gaby  Gaby is a sweet, smart girl who loves being close to her people. She’s happiest when she can see her person nearby and enjoys cuddling just as much as she enjoys playtime. She’s great at entertaining herself and will happily pick up a toy (especially the noisy ones!) and play on her own. She also loves interactive play and gets especially silly when she’s having fun with you. Belly rubs are one of her favorite things, and her ideal day includes walks, treats, toys, and quality time together. Gabby did well on walks and stayed calm when other dogs were nearby. She was alert but not barky, and overall very manageable. She knows her name, understands “no,” and can “sit” and “shake.” She’s very smart and eager to learn — with a little continued training, she’ll really shine. She did well going in and out of a fenced patio door on her own and would often go into her crate to relax. She enjoys her cozy bed, especially when her person is close by. When left alone for about an hour, she did get into a sheet, so she’ll do best with structure and guidance as she continues to build confidence when alone. Gabby’s foster describes her as obedient, loving, and not hard to handle at all. She loves to play, loves to cuddle, and truly deserves a home where she can give and receive lots of affection.
