My story is both heart-warming and heartbreaking, but I'm glad I found my way back to the rescue organization that can help me find the forever home I deserve. I can be a gentle and loyal companion who simply craves the love and attention that every dog deserves. Despite the neglect I experienced in my previous home,I have adjusted well since being returned to the rescue. My shyness and caution around men is understandable, but with the right patience and care, I'm confident I will blossom into a wonderful family member. I may be a bit shy at first, but will warm up to people and become the heart of the home. Story
Meeko is a sweet, active, almost four year old female spayed heeler mix. It breaks my heart to even be in this place. But unfortunately I do not believe that we are the right home for Meeko anymore. We rescued Meeko from death row at an overpopulated shelter in Arizona about 3 years ago. We have experience with the breed, and thought that she might be a good playmate for our other heeler. But Meeko is quite different from our first heeler and is very high energy and requires a long walk or hiking, fetch, and special attention daily. We have tried training, overnight camps, interactive games, daily exercise, mentally stimulating games, etc. On top of her physical and mental needs, Meeko is urinary and fecal incontinent. The vet believes she was hit by a car or had some other trauma event before we adopted her, and parts of her spine are fused together. She does pretty well though when she is kept to a strict feeding and potty schedule.
