Story
Shiloh is a tall, handsome gentleman who is looking for a family that will love him through his golden years. He always happy and is always willing to give hugs. He doesn't need to be the center of attention, but he wants to be nearby. Shiloh is very go with the flow and is willing to do anything you ask of him. He is great about getting in and out of a car, he has no issues going up and down stairs, and he is always up for a leisurely walk. He also likes to take naps on the couch and explore the backyard (occasionally he will chase a squirrel or bunny). He is not much of a barker, and not bothered by things like vacuums, sirens, doorbells, or people walking by the house. Shiloh recently had quite a few teeth extracted, but you would never know, as he was his normal cheery self while recovering. One of the many benefits of an older dog is that they don't require the same level of supervision as younger pups. Shiloh quickly convinced his foster family that he doesn't like or need a crate, and there is no baby gate that could hold him back. Fortunately, this senior gentleman earned the trust of his foster family by proving that he is a good boy who has no interest in counter surfing or getting into things. He is very adamant that he gets to sleep on a certain pet bed, and he gets a little bent out of shape if one of the other dogs gets there before him. He pretty much stays in one place all night until he is told it is time to go out in the morning. Shiloh is currently living with a puppy and is very kind and tolerant of him, but he prefers the pace of the older resident dog. Shiloh would be best suited as an only dog or in a home that doesn't have young, energetic pups. He is excellent with adults and teens, and would probably be best with children older than five, who understand the slower pace of an older dog. If you are looking for an easygoing buddy with a sweet personality, Shiloh is the right collie for you.

Story
Meet Grace — Sweet, Silly, and One of a Kind Grace is a 7-year-old Collie with a gentle soul and a quirky, lovable personality. This beautiful girl prefers the quiet comforts of home to the hustle and bustle of the outdoors. She’s not one for long walks or outdoor adventures, Grace is happiest relaxing inside with her favorite humans, enjoying cozy naps, and playing with her toys, she loves to toss them in the air and try to catch them! Grace is fully house-trained and has wonderful indoor manners. She’s trustworthy when left alone but may sneak a snack if you leave something tempting on the counter. She loves her crate and is often retreating there. She will even relax in the bathroom when she wants some peaceful “me time.” While she’s shy at first, Grace quickly warms up and shows her affectionate and silly side. She enjoys treats, gentle play, and being part of a calm, loving household. Loud noises and thunderstorms can make her nervous, so she’ll need a patient family who can offer comfort when she’s scared. Grace would do best as the only pet in a quiet home, ideally with adults or older children. She’s an introvert at heart who just wants a cozy spot, a predictable routine, and someone who loves her for exactly who she is. Gracie is ready to fill your home with joy, quiet companionship and the kind of love that only a Collie can give. If you're looking for a calm, loving dog with a dash of goofy charm, Grace might be the one.

Story
If you’re looking for a loyal companion who shines as bright as her name, Star is your girl! This 7–8-year-old Collie/Shepherd mix is the perfect blend of playful energy and sweet snuggles. Star loves the outdoors — playing fetch with her tennis ball, going for walks, and hanging out with her foster brother. She’s a smart cookie who knows her cues, and her foster family has found the magic word: say “attention!” and she’ll trot right over, sit politely, and wait for her favorite treat (carrots, please!). She’s an alert pup who likes to keep an eye on her surroundings — she’ll let you know when strangers, school buses, or garbage trucks are nearby. With gentle guidance and focus, she does wonderfully on walks and continues to improve on her leash manners. Star is both house and kennel trained, though she doesn’t need to be crated — she’s a polite lady who can be trusted home alone. She’s also great with kids (her foster nieces, ages 3 and 10, adore her!) and would love an active household where she can play hard and cuddle harder. Whether she’s chasing a ball, exploring the yard, or curling up on the couch for movie night, Star will fill your home with love and loyalty. She’s ready to bring joy to her forever family — could that be you? Star is fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round preventative, spayed and microchipped. She weighs about 50 lbs. If you are interested in providing Star her best life ever, and adding her to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Note that BAARK is located in the NW suburbs of Chicago, and adopts local to our area.

Story
Bonnie is a beautiful collie mix who is about 2 years old. She had 7 puppies at our shelter and is now looking for her own perfect home! She is a sweetheart, who loves to carefully jump up on you for hugs and attention. She is incredibly smart and agile and would love a home to keep her active and enriched! She does take longer to get used to some men so a slow and patient home is needed. She is dog friendly and kid friendly. Once she bonds to people she does have the tendency to resource guard them so we are looking for a home with previous experience dealing with any potential guarding issues. Due to resource guarding we are marking her for households with children over 12 yrs of age. She seems to enjoy other dogs at the shelter, but due to her small animal prey drive, will need a home without cats or small pets.

Story
Meet Coco- a dashing 4-year-old Collie/Shepherd/Terrier type mix who came to us after being surrendered to another shelter. He weighs in around 35lbs, though is a bit skinny, so will likely even out around 38lbs. He is a playful and fun guy, who enjoys walks and running around outside. He's an active dog and doesn't mind wading in his kiddie pool! Coco is a bit selective with his dog friends and has done best with submissive females. Coco walks well on a harness and is very curious about exploring his surroundings. He can be nervous meeting new people and will need slow introductions. He has been moved around quite a bit recently, so we would love to get him back in a home!
