Story
Hi there. Thanks for taking a look at me! I know my cute face is irresistible, but remember that I will take up lots of your time and attention while I grow into an awesome adult dog. Socialization, training (including house training), and exercise are just a few of the things I will look to you for. Chewing, teething, and learning what is Okay and not Okay to put in my mouth are all part of the puppy experience. And, be prepared for the time and money for frequent trips to the vet during the first few months so I can get up to date on my boosters and vaccines. But most of all, be prepared for all of the LOVE, puppy kisses, and joy I will bring into your life. If you are up for the challenge and the fun, stop in and meet my cute self in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email bloomingdale@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 90, and the staff will be happy to help you.

GOOD IN A HOME WITH Other dogs, children. Meet Millerton (In Foster)! Millerton is a sweet, adorable, and super loving pup who needs some extra TLC. Requirements for him to be successful are having a fenced yard as well as another dog to show him the ropes. He is still a bit timid but has come a long way in his foster home. Once he warms up to you, he will be your loyal companion and hold a special place in your heart. He is crate trained and is doing well with potty training. He enjoys playing with other dogs and toys. He also loves being outside and fetching sticks. If you're looking for unconditional love 24/7 look no further - Millerton will not disappoint! Our sweet boy's adoption fee is $250 which includes his neuter, microchip, fecal exam, and shots up to date. Millerton is approximately 2 years old. The best part? This nugget is only 34 pounds! His birthday is 8/27/21. Please consider opening your heart and incredibly loving home to this affectionate and gentle angel! Note: All dogs require a $100 training deposit. Once confirmation of the completion of a training class has been sent to the rescue, you will receive your deposit back in full. As we are a rescue all of our adult dogs/puppies for adoption must be spayed or neutered. Although we make every attempt to have this done before finding their adoptive families, this is not always possible. Please speak with your adoption coordinator to see of this service has already been performed or they will explain to you if your new dog/puppy will need this service while in your care at no cost to you. When emailing please include your phone number to help speed up the adoption process. Also, for the safety of our dogs we only adopt within a 2 hour radius of Joliet, Illinois, to allow our volunteers to do home checks if necessary.

Story
Rough Collie 3 years old Fenced yard required Fostered in Illinois Don’t let the smooth-like coat fool you. Three-year-old Grace is a sable and white rough collie. Her coat was heavily matted and the shelter decided to shave her before releasing her to our rescue. Although Grace looks good as a smoothie, her beautiful long coat will return in no time. Meanwhile, enjoy her hugs, kisses, and sweet personality. Little Grace is a sweet and friendly girl. She loves cuddles and giving kisses. She greets strangers by gently jumping on them. She gets along well with the resident cats and two resident collies. She is curious and friendly with the next door neighbors’ dog as well. Grace and the neighbor’s dog jump up on the fence to see each other any chance they get; super cute to watch. Although at times she might be a tad bit pushy towards one of the dogs in the foster home, they both snuggle up for a nap on the couch at the end of the day. When not enjoying the comforts of home, Grace likes running around the yard. She gets bursts of energy and zooms all over the place. This fun girl needs a fenced in yard for sure! Grace is coming along nicely with her training. She knows the sit and come commands and is working on shake and down. She could use a little work on social etiquette. Her table and counter manners are less than ideal, and she tends to jump on people, but we feel that with consistent and gentle training she will learn in no time. Good thing she is food motivated. Grace rides well in the car, is pretty good on a leash, and is fine with loud noises. When outside, she has some difficulty keeping focus as there’s so much to see, hear, and smell while on leash or in the yard. Continued practice with following directions when distracted is recommended. Bath time and brushing is not a problem for Grace. Being a social girl, she likes to be with her collie pack when her humans are gone. One day, Grace expressed her displeasure with confinement. When she was left in a gated kitchen, she somehow managed to escape. She was found sitting on the couch happy and content as if she’d been there all day! And who can blame her? Maybe her nickname should be Houdini. Her foster mom started crating her when leaving for extended periods of time. Grace will whine for a while but will settle down. When everyone is home, the crate is open and you’ll find Grace relaxing there from time to time. With her playful nature and loving kisses, Grace would be a great addition to any family. Fill out an application for amazing Grace today. Application can be found here: https://collierescue.org/DogDetails.aspx?id=2023-038

Story
Fostered in SE Michigan Fenced yard required Cindy Lou is a bit famous in our rescue. She is one of two collie puppies that came to us with a life threatening heart defect called Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). Cindy Lou had her heart repaired by the cardiologists at Michigan State University and has made a great recovery. She will need a final heart echocardiogram to complete her care which will be covered by CRGI. Cindy Lou is a very happy and sweet girl who loves to snuggle and hang out with her people. She can be talkative at times but her foster mom is trying to teach her to use her "Inside Voice". She has been around other dogs and cats and of course is great with all. She rides great in the car as well. Cindy Lou would do well in a home that isn't too boisterous only because she's a princess and a busy household is bit overwhelming for her at times. We also feel Cindy Lou needs some obedience training to help finish building her confidence especially in new situations. Just like any collie puppy, she needs consistent positive reinforcement and someone to take her out and show her the world is a fun place and not scary. She is crate trained and house trained but of course needs continued follow up with all since she is young. Do you have time for a sweet collie girl puppy in your life? Story
Fenced Yard Required Fostered in SW Missouri (Springfield area) Meet Trixie! This darling 1.5 year old girl is slowly coming out of her shell and showing her true, sweet personality. For most of her life, Trixie was very sheltered. Then a family obtained her, and they loved her very much. But the busy household, daily activities, and active children were overwhelming for Trixie. Her family reached out to us with the hope that we would be able to find her a home where she could relax, live without fear, and thrive. Trixie is a very sweet and gentle girl that needs confidence building activities and slow, continuous socialization. Guiding her through these stress reducing lessons will be made easier since Trixie is food motivated and will gladly sit for a treat. Leash walking is a work in progress and will take a while as she gets nervous about new sounds and new situations. It takes her some time to trust, but once Trixie gains your trust she will want to stay near you and enjoy all the cuddling and petting you have to offer. She will also seek reassurance from her person when she gets a bit unsure or anxious. This girl is young and playful. She will entertain herself with toys; she will even bring you a shoe or a slipper just in case you need one. She also likes to carry her toys around the house and leave them in various locations. Being young, she still likes to chew on Nylabones so she will need to be supervised or crated when not watched. Still a puppy at heart, she likes to run and play with other dogs and needs to learn proper play manners. She is a little overwhelming for older dogs and gets too wild when playing with young ones. Trixie would be fine with a mild mannered, patient dog, but we also believe she would be fine as an only dog too. What she needs most is a patient family that will take things slowly and guide her through the adjustment period and the learning process. Because Trixie is easily startled, a fenced in yard is required. It will allow her to run around and play safely. This lovely, deserving girl is looking for a calm, understanding forever home where she will be loved and cherished. She will in turn repay you in collie kisses! Application can be found here: https://collierescue.org/DogDetails.aspx?id=2023-053

Story
Stripes is a 1 y/o (dob 8/20/22) neutered male dog. He is medium in size weighing around 35-40#. Stripes brindle color and body shape lead is to believe he is a Cattle Dog/Shepherd mix. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, chipped, heartworm negative, and on prevention. Stripes has been around a 3 y/o child and did well but was a bit skittish of kid activity. Therefore, we believe Stripes would be more comfortable with older kids. He loves other dogs and plays well with others. Stripes knows to do his business outside and keeps the house and his kennel clean. He can be shy at first but warms up quickly. He does well with other dogs and they help him build his confidence. Stripes loves his human and likes to be close to them when he isn’t playing with other dogs. He does put himself in his kennel while his foster mom gets her work done. Stripes may take a while to warm up but once he's comfortable he's very loving. He is very loyal to his main human. He feels comfort in his crate and enjoys furry toys. Stripes is a laid back guy who loves nothing more than a cozy bed, belly rubs and human snuggles. Stripes loves car rides and does well just in the car and not in a crate. This sweet boy is looking for a caring home that will help him continue to build his confidence. He is being taken care of in TN but no worries because we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
This beautiful girl was dumped off in the country where she stayed waiting for her owner to come back for a week. Most times she laid in the road and people had to drive around her. After a week someone called us and we went to get her. She is not only beautiful, but she is also smart and sweet. Unfortunately, she tested positive for heartworms when we took her to the vet. That was four months ago. She has now been fully treated and is ready to live a long, happy, healthy life with her new family. Irelyn is spayed and UTD on all vaccines. She loves walks, is good in the car and is housetrained. She is a dominant female so a home with easy going males would be fine. She loves to be brushed and enjoys zoomies around the yard. If you would like to add the special girl to your forever family, please contact dogs4mylife@gmail.com or omlc7@hotmail.com and we will send our info, application and additional pics.

Story
Hi ! My name is Joshua but my friends call me JJ ! I am about 4 months old and weigh 28# . I am still growing and will prob be about 60 # when I’m an adult . I am crate trained and pretty much house trained . I do well in the car and even on long car rides . I love to go for walks on the leash . My favorite past time is to wrestle with my other foster buddies . Right now I am chewing on all my favorite toys and bones. Recently I went for a boat ride . They say I am a natural . No fear. Stepped on and off the dock and even took a nap. Feeling the wind in my face and my ears blowing back was a thrill . It will have to warm up more to test the water for a swim. Please consider adding me as a member of your family Thank you for your interest in a Save a Stray pet. The first step is to complete an adoption application. https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We do use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport because they care about their animals on board. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.
