Story
https://www.collierescue.org/dogs/8 NAPERVILLE, IL Kirby is a gentle, mahogany sable Rough Collie who brings a calm, comforting presence to any room. This mellow, house-trained senior girl loves staying close to her people and would thrive in a quiet home that can support her slower pace and mobility needs. Kirby is a 11-year-old Rough Collie whose sweetness and easygoing nature shine through in everything she does. She’s fully house trained, rarely vocal, and content with a simple routine that includes short, regular walks and plenty of couch time. Kirby prefers to stay near her adults, soaking up gentle affection and companionship rather than high-energy play. She’s learning to loosen up and play a bit from her foster siblings, but her favorite role is quiet, loyal shadow. Due to significant muscle loss in her rear legs, Kirby has difficulty with stairs and getting up, so she needs a home that can accommodate her mobility challenges. She’s doing better with supportive care and supplements, but still benefits from a safe, stable environment where she can move at her own pace. A fenced yard is always desirable but she doesn’t require it as long as she gets age-appropriate exercise. Kirby moves carefully around seniors and would be an ideal match for a calm, patient household ready to offer her comfort, consistency, and love in her golden years.

Story
Fostered near Wonder Lake, IL Fenced yard optional https://www.collierescue.org/dogs/4 Sasha is a wonderful 7.5 year old Sable and White Collie. When Sasha came to CRGI she was very afraid of life. What we learned about her is although change, new people and experiences are scary for her, once she adjusts, she is a total Velcro dog, super smart, obedient and very loving. I am her foster mom, and I will tell you straight up, she will take time to adjust to a new home. Once she does, Sasha will show you just how amazing, loving and devoted a dog she is. For Sasha, slow and steady introductions to people and other dogs work best. She not only has bonded with me, her foster mom, but many of the neighbors she encounters through her frequent walks throughout the neighborhood and the people she has encountered in Petsmart and Home Depo. Sasha knows, crate, place, sit, watch, touch, down, wait, stay and paw. It is adorable when Sasha is asked to go to her place, sit, wait and watch for her food. She is like a little solder at attention until she is released. Sasha is nervous with anything new, places and certain people. When she meets dogs walking or in training, we do brief introductions and she does great. In the home Sasha prefers to be the one and only dog as she is not big on sharing toys, bones, or attention. Cats are unknown. Sasha has the energy of a 7.5 year old dog, calm and affectionate at home. Walks 2-3 times x a day, usually about 1-2 miles each, which she enjoys. Not a big toy girl but sure loves her bones! Sasha loves positive training with treats as it grows her confidence and focus on her owner. Sasha would do best in a home without children as their energy is scary for her. Older, calm children would be ok. Although she will do fine in a fenced in yard, her foster home has found that frequent walks have been an amazing aid in growing her confidence. Sasha will be totally devoted to her forever home. It is just her nature. When she first got to her foster home, she needed a couple of weeks to adjust and get comfortable. We gave her that. She has her crate which she relied on heavily to feel safe in the beginning. (Her crate will go with her to her forever home) After a few weeks we moved the crate upstairs and what is awesome is she made the choice to hang out downstairs with her foster mom and foster sister. The funny thing is her foster mom asks her to go in it now when she leaves the house, and Sasha has decided she doesn’t want to! (She is however enticed with a stuffed frozen Kong!) Not that she needs it when left in the house, well except for her paper fetish, so toilet paper or easy access paper beware! She was fully trained when she came to us. We decided to take her to a beginners’ training course to help her build confidence and get to know her better. Step one was getting in and out of the car. With the help of her foster sister and treats, she jumps in and out like a champ now. Although there are times when a new experience will cause her a bit of stress and she will decide to hang out in the car for a while after we get home! That is ok. It is her time to decompress. We are good with that because she trusts her foster mom to get her in the car and take her to new places and meet new people. Class was a bit scary the first time around, but by session three she would whine in excitement when we pulled in! We had an incredible trainer at Petsmart in McHenry named Morgan. Before class all I had to say was we are going to see Morgan, and she would get all waggy tail and excited to go. She did need a few moments to decompress in the car when we got home. Just the fact that she did so amazing at class, entitled her to a few moments to settle down. What is super interesting about this girl is that although new situations and people can be stressful for her, she still wants to experience them. For example, we walk all the time on both sidewalks and forest preserves. In the beginning, both stressed her out. Now she would be extremely upset if her foster mom left her home. Sasha needs a forever, devoted owner or family that appreciates with every effort to help her get comfortable, she will give her family unlimited love. She will show you at every turn how devoted and trusting she is.

FENCED YARD REQUIRED Fostered in Elkhart, IN https://www.collierescue.org/dogs/58 Meet Libby, a 3-year-old Rough Collie with a unique sable merle coat and captivating mismatched eyes. This playful girl is looking for a loving cat-free home where she can thrive alongside respectful children and other dogs! Libby is a sweet and intelligent girl who enjoys being the center of attention, especially from her favorite humans. With a playful spirit and a knack for training, she responds well to positive reinforcement, particularly when treats like hot dogs or string cheese are involved. Although she can be a bit stubborn, her charming personality shines through as she engages with her foster family. Libby is fully house-trained and crate-trained, making her an ideal companion for families with children aged 5 and up. Libby requires a secure yard and would thrive in a single-family home or larger space. While she's friendly with other dogs, she needs to be in a cat-free environment due to her strong prey drive. Her foster family is currently working on her vocalization and reactivity to loud noises. With the right training and love, Libby is sure to become a cherished member of her forever family.

Story
Fostered near Elkhart, IN Fenced yard required https://www.collierescue.org/dogs/18 Chance is a 3-year-old tricolor Rough Collie who does best in a calmer household. He’s very social with other dogs, great with cats, and a true crate pro who settles well. A little shy at first, it takes him a little time to warm up to visitors, but once everyone is settled, he is just fine. Chance does best when he can take things at his own pace—especially with a confident canine buddy nearby for moral support. In foster care, Chance has slipped right back into a steady household routine and shows he’s happiest in a relatively low key environment. Having children in his prior home was overwhelming to him so an adult only home would be best for this boy. He’s fully house trained and crate trained. He’ll occasionally enjoy couch snuggles, though he often prefers having his own space. Chance enjoys the company of other dogs and plays well, though his play can sometimes be a bit too enthusiastic and too rough. He would do best with younger, playful dogs and a strong role-model dog to help build his confidence. He’s good with cats and has a very low prey drive. A fenced yard is required for safe off-leash play. Chance will also need some light house-proofing, as he can be a bit of a counter-surfer who may steal food or personal items to chew. Leash walking is still a work in progress, as he can be nervous about outside sounds and sights. His foster home has started manners class to help him grow more confident when exploring the world beyond home. Chance would be so grateful to have a family that is willing to continue working with him. If your heart is open to a sweet, gentle Collie who would feel safest and happiest in a calm, peaceful home with a canine friend by his side, Chance may be the perfect soul to welcome into your life.

Story
Fostered near Plainfield, IL Fenced yard required https://www.collierescue.org/dogs/2051 Meet Sylvia, a 6 month-old tricolor Smooth Collie mix puppy who’s as smart as they come. She is quick to pick up new things from quickly becoming house trained, mastering sit, starting to learn wait and recall commands as well as free, and quickly figuring out new puzzle toys and slow feeders. This sweet little girl does well in her crate and can keep herself busy with a variety of toys and chews but she also loves to play with people, go for walks, get snuggles, and play with the resident dogs in her foster home. Sylvia is an energetic girl who has been learning her manners and is eager to find a home ready to continue her training to keep her learning the new things she needs to learn. Sylvia is affectionate and sweet and really enjoys following her people to see what they're doing. She enjoys all kinds of toys, Kongs, bully sticks, balls, and Nylabone chews. She is incredibly smart and figures out new games and puzzles quickly without giving up. Sylvia is an active pup who would do best in a home as an only dog or with patient but confident dogs who will continue to show Sylvia proper pup manners. She would also benefit from a family who wants to be active with her as she is a dog who wants to work or be busy. She would likely do well in agility classes or other sport classes as she is a fast and intelligent gal. Sylvia plays hard but she’s a pro in her crate and sleeps peacefully through the night. She rides well in the car on short or longer trips. She enjoys other dogs but can still get a bit overstimulated when playing with them. She has been learning "gentle" when playing with other dogs and also learning "all done" to end the play session. Continued guidance will help her learn good doggy manners. Sylvia is still a typical puppy: she may bark at new sights and sounds but is highly motivated by food and will work through the new or fearful experience with patience and time with the exposure while receiving treats. A securely fenced yard or dog run and a family committed to training, structure, and exercise will help this clever smoothie mix truly blossom.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Neely! Neely is a sweet, playful 5-month-old Border Collie/Lab mix with a petite frame and a big, loving heart. Neely is on a furlough this week: "She’s super playful and super curious about everything. Potty training is going well if we take her out enough but if we have pee pads around she’ll use them, she didn’t like the windy night we had the other day, it scared her and she didn’t want to go outside so pee pads for the win. She learned how to sit! Although still working on it hahaha. And she’s doing much much better on leash She has been around my niece (5yo) and nephew (6months) and did so well, not even nibbling that much just many licks! If you’re looking for a little shadow who wants to love you endlessly, Neely is your girl!" born 8/1/25 Apply at projecthopearf.org Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 29, 2026, 7:03 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143 Noah &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143 Noah is a 6-month-old Border Collie/Lab mix… and 100% lovable goofball. This fuzzy little lovebug is eager to please and just waiting for his forever person or family to choose him. What’s he like? Great with other dogs and loves to play (he’s learning not to overdo the “annoying little brother” energy). Equal parts Velcro pup and independent entertainer — he’ll happily dig through the toy basket and keep himself busy. Knows not to chew furniture or shoes, though socks and dryer sheets are his weakness (he’ll drop them when asked!). Can get overstimulated in chaotic environments and prefers slow introductions. He may take a minute to warm up, but he’s worth the wait. Once he trusts you, he is the sweetest snuggle bug who just wants to be close to his person. What can he do? Kennel trained (sleeps through the night and goes in on command). Fully potty trained with subtle but clear cues. Excellent in the car — calm, comfy, and observant. Recently graduated a 10-day obedience program! He knows “wait,” “place,” “come,” “heel,” loose-leash walking, and more. His perfect match? &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Someone committed to continuing his training and staying consistent. &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 A confident, dog-savvy adopter who can guide him and help build his confidence. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Biscotti.  Came from Memphis with her mom and 8 siblings!  Rescued from being euthanized for space.   Flew in by Pilots for Paws.  She is adorable and sweet! She loves running around and snuggling.  She is super playful and lovable with gorgeous blue eyes!. Biscotti is the kind of puppy you don’t just like—you fall in love with her. This sweet ~4.5-month-old Border Collie/Husky mix recently spent the weekend on furlough with our family, and she fit right in like she had always been here. In a wonderfully chaotic household with three kids, adults, and a playful 3-year-old Bernedoodle, Biscotti was gentle, kind, curious, and so incredibly loving. She’s playful and fun—loves dog bones and tennis balls—but when she’s had her fill of fun, she’s happiest curled up right in your lap, fast asleep. She’s a skinny little thing who definitely appreciates mealtime (can you blame her?), and she has the softest brindle coat paired with the most stunning eyes and ears you’ll ever see on one dog. Biscotti is still a puppy, which means she’s learning. She isn’t fully house-trained yet, but she did beautifully sleeping overnight in her kennel and settled quickly without much fuss. She rarely barked and showed just how adaptable and easygoing she truly is. If we were in a place to take on puppy training right now, there’s no question—Biscotti would already be ours. She’s already showing all the signs of becoming an incredible dog. She just needs a family who’s ready to help her learn, grow, and continue becoming the amazing girl she’s meant to be. &#226&#156&#168 Playful. Gentle. Loving. Beautiful. &#226&#156&#168 Biscotti is ready for her forever home.
