Story
Fenced yard required Sweeney is a tri-headed white Smooth Collie. This puppy boy is ready for fun and adventure. Five-month-old Sweeney is happy, bouncy, and full of energy. He loves people of all ages, other dogs, walks and car rides, and is always eager to explore. He greets everyone with a play bow just to let them know he wants to run and romp. Sweeney is both fun loving and a quick learner. He knows how to sit and how to give paw. He’s leash trained and crate trained. He will even bark to let you know when he needs to go outside. He still has to work on house manners a bit as he likes to put his paws on everything, but he is treat motivated and will quickly become a well mannered boy. Sweeney would do best with another active dog willing to play, or with an owner willing to devote time to walks, training, and playtime to burn off some of his puppy powered energy. He would love a family willing to engage his mind and body. An obedience or agility class would be great for Sweeney and fun for the whole family. Sweeney has enthusiasm for everything life has to offer. If you’re looking for someone to share life’s adventures, he’s your boy! We are not accepting applications at this time for this particular dog. You can submit an application if you are interested in being matched with another current or future dog.

Story
Fenced yard required Fostered in SE Michigan Watch out! This bandit just might steal your heart. Bandit is a sweet and fun 8-month-old boy. He is happy and friendly to everyone he meets! Even though he is a big boy, he thinks he is still a lap dog. He loves attention, scratches, and snuggles. Bandit loves to have fun! He enjoys running around the yard and playing with the resident Australian Shepherd and Husky. Bandit also likes to carry his favorite toys around the house and even likes to curl up with them on the floor. He has not chewed on them yet; he just carries them in his mouth ever so gently. He will also carry shoes and clothing items around the house. He’s learning what’s a toy and what’s not. He will need some supervision before being allowed to roam the house freely while his people are away for extended periods of time. This happy boy is still very much a big puppy and has a few things to learn. Bandit is just starting to get an understanding of proper leash walking and basic commands such as sit and down. He will sit and shake, or give paw, as long as treats are involved. He’s a smart boy and is catching on fast. When excited, Bandit will often run into or jump up on his foster parents. Being an eighty-five pound puppy, he would do best in a home without elderly or low mobility individuals, and since he could easily knock down small kids, he would be better suited to a household with older children. Bandit can jump out of the car but sometimes needs help getting in. A car ride is not his favorite activity, but once he’s in, he rides well overall. A fenced in yard is required as Bandit loves to run around chasing everything in sight. He would benefit from being in a home with another playful dogs but would also do well as a single pet as long as he can be kept entertained and busy. Are you ready to share your adventures with this delightful boy?

Story
Fenced yard required Piper is an eight-month-old puppy that is coming out of her shell. Full of sweetness and curiosity, this little girl is also very timid and approaches everything with caution. Piper likes to observe everything going on around her before joining in, but she is slowly making progress with her socialization. Piper wants to be part of the action, she just doesn’t always know how to join in. She will circle around until she feels brave, and then she’ll jump on the couch or plop down on the floor. Piper doesn’t often seek out attention, but when she jumps up on the couch next to you, she soaks up the love and enjoys being petted, and she won’t get up until you move first. Piper will need a family that can be very patient with her and take the time to earn her trust. This sweet pup is her happiest when she is outside. Piper loves to prance around the yard and investigate all the smells and nose around under sticks and leaves. One of her favorite things to do is run around with a toy in her mouth and try to get the resident dogs to chase her. If she can’t convince anyone to play, she will toss the toy around and entertain herself. Piper doesn’t bark when she is in the yard, but loud noises do scare her and her first reaction is to run in the opposite direction, so having a fence to ensure that she doesn’t bolt out of the yard is imperative to her safety. Piper has shown a lot of progress since arriving at her foster home. She quickly learned how to go up stairs, and with a little coaxing (and her foster mom getting tired of carrying her) she learned to go down. She is good about jumping in the car and rides well, she just doesn’t always like to get out on her own. When she arrived, she didn’t know what a treat was, but she slowly started to realize how delicious they are and started to take one if it was placed in front of her, and then a couple days later decided it was safe to accept it from her foster mom’s hand. Piper will need some help with learning commands as she starts to get more comfortable with her environment. When it comes to her ideal forever home, patience is the biggest requirement for Piper’s future family. A calm environment would also help her feel comfortable, so older kids who understand how she feels and how to approach and respond to her would be best. Piper gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playing with them. She would fit in well with younger dogs, but she might be a bit much for older dogs. She would also be great as an only pup. No matter where she ends up, Piper is sure to be a loyal, fun, and endearing companion.

Story
Hard to believe Carrie is a puppy! She’s calm, gentle, friendly, and VERY smart! Carrie aims to please her people, and learns and follows commands pretty quickly. She loves people, is wonderful with other dogs, as well as with older children. (We are not sure about cats.) Carrie is believed to be a Collie Mix. Her estimated date of birth is January 8, 2023. At 4 months, she weighs 24 lbs. It is most important to note that we cannot be 100% sure of her adult weight, but our best guess is about 50-60 lbs. An ideal family for Carrie is one able and willing to make the commitment of time, attention, and energy into working with and training Carrie to be her best self! A fenced yard is ideal as is another younger or middle-aged pup in the family Carrie is crate-trained and is working on good house manners (housebreaking). She is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, is on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Her spay is included in her adoption fee. For information about adding this adorable girl to your family please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.

Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Tiger Lily (she answers to Lily) is very timid at first but this would be expected from a former street dog. It will take a day or so for her to warm up to you, but then she's yours for life. If you want a dog that hugs you, then Lily is whom you want. Research indicates she is a Moscow Watchdog mix, and the watchdog part holds true with her. She is not a big barker but is always on alert. She is crate trained and leash trained and loves long walks, Lily would be best in a home with a fenced yard as she loves to explore and run. She does have some fear reactivity that is caused by anxiety but that can surely be worked on through trust and training.  Tiger Lily has not been tested around children but has been introduced to cats. She loves her foster fur sister, but it took some time. In the beginning she had the idea she was the alpha dog, but on the advice of trainers, we made it clear our own dog came first. Now she is happy in her new position as little sister. Her good points are she doesn't jump up on you, doesn't continually lick your face, and does not counter surf. Her favorite toy is a ball, and she can play alone with one for a long time. She loves to sit outside for hours on end, just looking at everything. When she lived on the streets of Azerbaijan, she was injured and found in a pool of blood by a rescue team. They fixed her foot and helped her heal so that she could fly to America in search of her furever family!  Fill out an adoption application to schedule your own private meet and greet with this furry friend.
